Valhjim Music
by Valhjim
Valhjim is a music composer with an eclectic approach to different genres: rock, pop, folk, New Age, and experimental electronic music. Greatly driven by imagination and poetic imagery, he combines multiple instrumental textures to fire the imagination of his listeners. His more experimental ambience and electronic music is built with layers of suggestive sound textures, rhythms, and melodic lines that stir the imagination into suggestive imagery and worlds unseen, true architectures of sound that open up limitless spaces to explore. Often Valhjim's melodies sail through genre thresholds, crossing over from one genre to another, from neo classcal to electronic, or from jazz to rock or new age.

Nocturne
"Nocturne" Valhjim The night is calm. A solitary lamppost casts its yellow beam upon the cobble stones. In the distance, a line of three standing ashtrees softly sway in the evening breeze. Up above, a silver moon glows in the sky. Thoughts meander in the mind. They come in waves imbrocated with images of unrecalled past lives. A woman's voice intunes a melody from long ago in this soft nocturnal peace. Valhjim — syntesizers, samplers, guitars. © 2025 Valhjim. All rights reserved. Original music by Valhjim.

Echoes of an Exhibition
"Echoes of an Exhibition" Valhjim A small gallery in the evening. Dim light. Pictures on the walls under spotlight. You walk slowly, inspecting intently the landscapes and people depicted inside the frames. Colors, textures, shapes form composition, rhythm, each a different universe. You step into different rooms, atmospheres, spaces. Each picture a sonic landscape. You hear echoes of another Exhibition from long ago but still present in time everlasting. You are the sound. You are the music. Valhjim: guitar, synthesizers, samplers. © 2025 Valhjim. All rights reserved. Original music by Valhjim.

They Play in the Clouds
"They Play in the Clouds" Valhjim An orchestral ambiance piece with a touch of jazz, "They Play in the Clouds" suggests imagery of blue skies, streaming cloud formations, and ethereal vocalizations harmonizing in the breeze. The winds blow causing the clouds to stream along, capriciously whirling and twirling like eddies on a lazy stream. A saxophone improvises over the soundscape, whispering its jazzy notes in the wind. **************** Valhjim: synthesizers, samplers. *********** © 2025 Valhjim. All rights reserved. Behind the Sun
Behind the Sun Valhjim We walk behind the sun in search of words to say love and grief will surely come our way someday silence creeps between the words we do not dare to say We crouch behind the sound of crashing waves along the strait The salt upon our tongues remains when all the words refrain. (bridge) We walk behind the sun in search of words to say love and grief will surely come our way someday Someday Someday Someday. ************************* Valhjim: Guitars, Synthesizers, Samplers. *************************

Bodhi Tree
Bodhi Tree Valhjim It is not to wonder that Gautama found Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree—all trees are living, beautiful Bodhi Trees, living bridges between heaven and earth, mind and spirit, body and soul. All trees shine with inner light, there's so much going on inside them that is not visible to the eye: rivers of energy streaming through trunk, boughs, leaves, flowers and fruits, complex networks of roots spreading underground, talking, connecting, with other trees, plants, bushes, and undergrowth; trees provide shelter from the heat of the sun, home for birds and numberless creatures; trees bring down rain to fertilize the earth, give us delicious, nurturing fruit. All trees are beautiful Bodhi Trees, bridges between worlds. ******** hope you like this poem and music, friends. Thanks for listening and for your kind and thoughtful words—they bring much joy and inspiration. Valhjim © 2025 Valhjim. All rights reserved. Original music by Valhjim.

The Aeolian Harp
Aeolian harp, (from Aeolus, the Greek god of the winds), a type of box zither on which sounds are produced by the movement of wind over its strings. It is made of a wooden sound box about 1 metre by 13 cm by 8 cm (3 feet by 5 inches by 3 inches) that is loosely strung with 10 or 12 gut strings. These strings are all of the same length but vary in thickness and hence in elasticity. The strings are all tuned to the same pitch. In the wind they vibrate in aliquot parts (i.e., in halves, thirds, fourths…), so that the strings produce the natural overtones (harmonics) of the fundamental note: octave, 12th, second octave, and so on. --Encyclopedia Britannica. Articulations Of Rain
Articulations of Rain Mild rain. Water drops. Clear timbres. Crystalline notes - Interlacing Patterns. Textured sounds. Soft melodic lines. Layered streams of wind and water. Thunder in the distance. Sound thickens. Frogs croak. Choirs come out of the rain, they blend and become one with other sounds in this wet symphony of the world. --(C) 2021, Jim Valero (all rights reserved). Dorothy, Dorothy She gave up everything just to be with him her whole life turned around his own He loved her young wild eyes he saw himself in them there never was a day he strayed from her mind She was all for him He was all for her two bodies and one soul Everywhere he went she followed suit all the poems he wrote she took down She was his love She was his girl he saw himself in her wild eyes She was all for him He was all for her siblings and lovers both She followed him up and down great mountains into foreign cities and God-forsaken towns (chorus) Dorothy, Dorothy, what are you to do? Yggdrasil
"I know that an ash-tree stands called Yggdrasill, a high tree, soaked with shining loam; from there come the dews which fall in the valley, every green, it stands over the well of fate." --The Poetic Edda, , Larrington, Carolyne (Trans.), Oxford World's Classics, 1996. Yggdrasill, Old Norse Mimameidr, in Norse mythology, the world tree, a giant ash supporting the universe. One of its roots extended into Niflheim, the underworld; another into Jötunheim, land of the giants; and the third into Asgard, home of the gods. At its base were three wells: Urdarbrunnr (Well of Fate), from which the tree was watered by the Norns (the Fates); Hvergelmir (Roaring Kettle), in which dwelt Nidhogg, the monster that gnawed at the tree’s roots; and Mímisbrunnr (Mimir’s Well), source of wisdom, for the waters of which Odin sacrificed an eye. After Ragnarök (Doomsday), the world tree, though badly shaken, was to be the source of new life. --Encyclopedia Britannica. * Music envisioned, composed, and recorded by Valhjim. Bright Star Silently coming The dawn Through your eyes The snow slowly Melting Beyond in the sky And as you rise up With dreams In your mind The girl in the photograph Jumps through your heart Bright Star, light up My life again Bright Star, give me Your love again There’s cold in the air But the sun’s In her smile You send her a thought and then you start to float And as you slowly Begin To descend The girl in the photograph Hides in your heart Bright Star, light up My life again Bright Star, give me Your love again Softly the wind Caresses Your skin Your hair freely Floating The clouds in your head And as you slowly Look into Your mind The girl in the photograph Is born in your heart Bright Star, light up My life again Bright Star, give me Your love again. —Jim Valero, November 22, 1982.

The Enchanted Forest of Bronceliande
--(C) 2020 Jim Valero (all rights reserved). Bronceliande Brocéliande (also known as Breselianda, Bersillant, Berthelien, Berceliande, Brecheliant, Broceliande) is a legendary enchanted forest that had a reputation in the medieval European imagination as a place of magic and mystery. Brocéliande is featured in several medieval texts, mostly related to the Arthurian legend and the characters of Merlin, Morgan le Fay, Lady of the Lake, and some of the Knights of the Round Table. It first appeared in literature in the Roman de Rou chronicle by Wace in 1160.

Jupiter's Moons
--(C) 2020 Jim Valero (all rights reserved). JUPITER'S MOONS These four largest moons of Jupiter are known as the Galilean Satellites on account of Galileo Galillei being the first to see them in 1610. Io, the closest to Jupiter, displays huge voclanic activity. It's very hot. Ganymede is the largest satellite in the solar system. It possesses an outer shell of ice. Europa is the smallest of the four, like Earth's moon. Under its frozen surface there are oceans where life might exist. Its distance from Earth is 390 million miles. Callisto is famous for its craters, but shows no volcanic activity. These four moons are named after Jupiter's lovers in Roman mythology. Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System. ITs volume is 1321 times larger than Earth, and its mass 316 times larger. Despite this, it has the fastest rotation in the Solar System, completing a whole rotation every 10 hours.

Lament for the Albatross
"At length did cross an Albatross, Thorough the fog it came; As if it had been a Christian soul, We hailed it in God's name. It ate the food it ne'er had eat, And round and round it flew. The ice did split with a thunder-fit; The helmsman steered us through! And a good south wind sprung up behind; The Albatross did follow, And every day, for food or play, Came to the mariner's hollo! In mist or cloud, on mast or shroud, It perched for vespers nine; Whiles all the night, through fog-smoke white, Glimmered the white Moon-shine.' 'God save thee, ancient Mariner! From the fiends, that plague thee thus!— Why look'st thou so?'—With my cross-bow I shot the ALBATROSS." --(C) 202 Jim Valero (all rights reserved). My deepest gratitude to Monica Hernandez for her beautiful and powerful singing on this project.

Long the Night but Strong The Heart
Long the Night but Strong the Heart Entangling is the snare clustered is the ash the ducks are in the pond white breaks the wave More powerful than a hundred is the counsel of the heart and Reason is the fairest lamp for man The saplings of the bramble have berries on them white the gravel of the sea white the foam on the cliff Rain without, my hair is drenched the wind whistles on the reeds long the night but strong the heart for you The saplings of the green-topped birch will liberate my mind the thrush is on her nest the eagle soars the skies Rain without, the ocean's drenched pale white is the sea my spirit's free my heart flies with the wind Entanglin is the snare clustered is the ash the ducks are in the pond white breaks the wave Rain without, my hair is drenched the wind whistles on the reeds long the night but strong the heart for you.
