We’ll hear God's tender words to Israel: “Do not fear.” Even after their failures and seasons of rebellion, the Lord has not forgotten them. He calls them back to Himself, offering redemption, forgiveness, and hope. These chapters also introduce Cyrus, a ruler God would use long before he was even born—a remarkable reminder that God is sovereign over history and works out His purposes in ways we could never imagine. As you listen today, consider this question: What am I trusting in besides God? Isaiah challenges us to lay down our idols—whether they are possessions, accomplishments, fears, or desires—and place our confidence in the Lord who declares, “I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.” So take a deep breath, open your heart, and join us as we read Isaiah 44–48. Day 206 Podcast Intro: Isaiah 37–39 & Psalm 76 Welcome back to Day 206 of our Walk Through History. Yesterday, we left Jerusalem surrounded by the mighty Assyrian Empire and confronted with a terrifying question: Will God's people trust Him when the odds seem impossible? Today, we witness God's answer. In Isaiah 37, King Hezekiah brings his fears before the Lord, and God responds with a powerful reminder that no earthly king, army, or empire can stand against His sovereign will. What seems like certain defeat becomes a stunning display of divine deliverance. Then, in Isaiah 38, the story becomes deeply personal. Hezekiah faces not an invading army, but his own mortality. As he cries out to God, we see a king learning that every breath is a gift and that God's mercy reaches into both national crises and individual struggles. In Isaiah 39, the tone shifts again. A moment of pride and misplaced trust reveals a troubling glimpse into Judah's future. The chapter reminds us that spiritual victories do not eliminate the need for ongoing humility and faithfulness. Alongside these narratives, Psalm 76 celebrates the majesty of God as the One who breaks the weapons of the powerful and causes the nations to stand in awe. It is a fitting song to accompany the events of Hezekiah's day, declaring that true security is found not in human strength but in the Lord alone. As you read today, watch for the contrast between human power and divine power, between fear and faith, between pride and humility. Above all, notice how God proves Himself faithful in every circumstance—whether facing an empire, an illness, or an uncertain future. Let's begin our reading of Isaiah 37–39 and Psalm 76.

Day 205 Podcast Intro: Isaiah 35–36 Welcome back to Day 205 of our journey through the Bible. Today we move from a breathtaking vision of hope into a dramatic real-world test of faith. In Isaiah 35, the prophet paints a picture of God's coming restoration: deserts bloom, the weak are strengthened, the blind see, the deaf hear, and a redeemed people walk the Highway of Holiness toward everlasting joy. It's one of Scripture's most beautiful portraits of God's promise to heal what is broken and bring His people home. Then, in Isaiah 36, that future hope collides with a present crisis. Jerusalem is surrounded by the Assyrian army, and King Hezekiah must decide whom he will trust. The enemy's spokesman mocks God, spreads fear, and urges the people to rely on political calculation rather than divine faithfulness. The question hanging over the chapter is one we all face: Will we trust God's promises when circumstances seem to contradict them? As we read today, notice the contrast between these two chapters. One reveals God's glorious future; the other shows the challenge of believing that future in the middle of hardship. Hope is promised in chapter 35, and faith is tested in chapter 36. So let's listen for both the promise and the challenge as we read Isaiah 35–36.

Throughout Hosea, God has confronted His people's idolatry, unfaithfulness, and misplaced trust. In these final chapters, the warnings become more urgent, but so does the invitation to return. Even after all of Israel's wandering, God's desire is not destruction but restoration. One of the most beautiful themes in Hosea is that God's faithfulness remains even when His people are unfaithful. The book ends with a call to repentance and a promise of healing, renewal, and blessing for those who turn back to Him. As we read Hosea 8–14 today, let's reflect on where we place our trust, how we respond to God's correction, and the amazing truth that His grace is always greater than our failure. Let's begin.

As I read these chapters, I can't help but notice some striking parallels between the spiritual condition of Israel in Hosea's day and some of the challenges we see in our own society today. Hosea describes a people who had drifted from God, trusted in their own strength, pursued other allegiances, and gradually lost sight of the covenant relationship they were called to maintain. While every historical period is unique, Hosea's message reminds us that God's concern is not merely outward religion but hearts that are genuinely devoted to Him. Even amid judgment and consequences, His desire is always to call His people back to repentance, faithfulness, and restoration. Let's dive into Hosea 1–7 and consider what these chapters might be saying to us today.

Even in judgment, He remains faithful to His purposes. He humbles the proud, protects His people, and preserves a remnant who will continue to trust in Him. As you listen today, pay attention to the contrast between human confidence and God's sovereignty. Ask yourself: Where am I placing my trust? In the shifting strengths of this world, or in the Lord who rules over all nations and all history? Let's begin Day 197: Isaiah 13–17.

Welcome back to Day 196 of our Bible reading journey. Today we enter one of the darkest chapters in the history of God's people as we read 2 Chronicles 28 and 2 Kings 16–17. These passages tell the story of King Ahaz of Judah, a ruler who rejected the Lord and embraced the gods of surrounding nations. Instead of turning to God in times of trouble, Ahaz placed his trust in political alliances and false worship, leading his kingdom deeper into spiritual decline. In 2 Kings 17, we witness the tragic fall of the northern kingdom of Israel. After generations of rebellion, idolatry, and refusal to heed God's prophets, Israel is conquered by Assyria and taken into exile. The chapter carefully explains that this disaster was not merely a political event—it was the consequence of a people continually turning away from their covenant with God. Yet even in these sobering accounts, we see an important reminder: God is patient, warning His people again and again before judgment comes. His desire has always been repentance, restoration, and faithfulness. As you listen today, consider where you place your trust. Are you relying on God, or are you tempted to seek security elsewhere? And how does God's patience toward Israel reveal His heart toward us today? Let's begin Day 196.

Micah was a prophet who spoke during a turbulent time in Israel and Judah. His message is both challenging and hopeful. He boldly confronted injustice, corruption, and empty religious practices, calling God's people back to genuine faith and obedience. Yet alongside his warnings, Micah delivered some of the most beautiful promises of hope found in Scripture—promises of restoration, peace, and the coming Messiah. As we read Micah in its entirety today, listen for the contrast between God's righteous judgment and His incredible mercy. Notice how Micah calls out leaders who exploit the vulnerable, while also pointing forward to a King who would be born in Bethlehem and shepherd His people in faithfulness. One of the book's most memorable themes is found in Micah 6:8, where we're reminded of what the Lord requires: to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. So take a deep breath, settle in, and open your heart to God's Word. Whether Micah's message convicts, encourages, or challenges you today, remember that God's ultimate desire is not destruction but redemption. Let's begin our reading of the book of Micah.

One of the book's central messages rings out clearly: God desires hearts that seek Him, not merely rituals that honor Him with words. As Amos declares, "Seek Me and live." As you listen today, consider where God may be calling you to greater faithfulness, integrity, and dependence on Him. Let's open our hearts to His Word and see what He wants to teach us through Amos 1–5.

Isaiah 5-8

Today we return to 2 Kings 15 and 2 Chronicles 26, where we take a closer look at the reign of King Uzziah of Judah and the turbulent days of the divided kingdom. Uzziah's story begins with tremendous success. He sought God, strengthened Judah, built cities, fortified defenses, and led the nation into a season of prosperity. His accomplishments remind us of what can happen when a leader depends on the Lord and walks in His ways. But these chapters also contain an important warning. As Uzziah grew stronger, he became proud. The very success God had blessed him with became a stumbling block when he began to step beyond the boundaries God had established. His story is a powerful reminder that spiritual success is not just about how we start, but how faithfully we finish. At the same time, we see political instability in Israel, with kings rising and falling in rapid succession. Through all the chaos, one truth remains constant: God is still sovereign, still faithful, and still working out His purposes. So grab your Bible and join me as we explore these chapters and discover the dangers of pride, the blessing of humility, and the importance of remaining dependent on God no matter how successful we become. Jonah chose to disobey God, not because he was afraid of failure, but because he disliked the people God was sending him to. He knew God was merciful, and he didn't want his enemies to receive that mercy. As we explore this powerful book today, we'll see how prejudice, pride, and resentment can keep us from walking in obedience. More importantly, we'll discover that God's love extends far beyond the people we think deserve it. Jonah's story challenges us to examine our own hearts and ask: Are there people we've written off that God is still pursuing? 2 Chronicles 10-12

Up until now, we’ve seen a united kingdom under Saul, David, and Solomon—but today, that unity begins to fracture. Rehoboam’s choices lead to division, and the nation splits into two: Israel in the north and Judah in the south.
