King David, King Jesus, and Me? Who Me?

God doesn’t see what the world sees. In 1 Samuel 15-16, Saul’s downfall and David’s unlikely anointing reveal a powerful truth: God looks at the heart. Discover what God sees when He looks at you—and how to guard the one thing He values most.Note: At about 6:45 into the sermon, Pastor Dave showed a video clip from the new animated movie, "David", that shows David's anointing by the prophet Samuel. He's Not Done: Love Conquers All

In a disconnected world, God makes Himself visible through how we love others. Real love isn’t about how many people we reach, but how deeply we care for those in front of us. Despite differences, we’re called to live in unity, reflecting Christ through compassion, forgiveness, and fellowship. When we choose intentional, sacrificial love, we strengthen the church and reveal God to the world—because He’s not done working through us yet. Easter Sunday: The Passover Lamb

On Easter Sunday, we explored why Jesus is called the Passover Lamb and how the first Passover in Exodus points directly to the cross. Just as the blood of an unblemished lamb caused God’s judgment to pass over Israel, the blood of Christ covers our sin and satisfies the wrath we deserve. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus became the perfect and final sacrifice, offering not only forgiveness but new life. The question for each of us remains: is our life covered by the blood of the Lamb?We recommend watching the following Bible Project video before listening to Pastor Garrett’s sermon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14x_PtlnJHw Due to copyright, we can’t include it in our video, but give it a watch, and then come back here! For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv

This morning we finish up our “Loving the World” series and our missions-focused month with a guest speaker: Tim Cole from Waypoint Church Partners. Waypoint offers many services to Christian churches across the Mid-Atlantic Region, including planting churches. Tim talks to us about what that looks like and leads us in a message about the mission of the capital C - Church - and what that means for us.Tim takes us back to the book of Genesis and the idea of lə·mî·nōw which is a Hebrew phrase we see repeatedly in Genesis 1. This phrase is crucial in identifying the fruit churches and disciples should yield. For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv

Loving the World: Loving the People Jesus Loves

There’s probably someone in your life who isn’t easy to love — but Jesus loves them completely. Scripture reminds us that God is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, and His compassion calls us to see people the way He does. You were made to share the grace you’ve received. Loving the people Jesus loves may be uncomfortable, but it’s where compassion grows and the mission of Christ comes to life. For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv

When Jesus is the Lord of His Church: Harmony

This message concludes our series, “When Jesus is the Lord of His Church”. In John 17, Jesus prays for us—that we would be one. In a world fueled by offense, the Church is called to look different. Unity isn’t sameness; it’s surrendering our preferences to His Lordship. When love leads, harmony follows—and our oneness becomes a witness. “When the Church is one, the world is won.”For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv

When Jesus is the Lord of His Church: Worship

We’ve made God too small. Psalm 29 reminds us that the Lord’s voice shakes creation and commands our awe. The same power that raised Jesus now works in us, turning worship from a moment into a way of life. When Jesus is truly Lord, every decision becomes an act of surrender and every day an offering of glory to the One who is worthy. For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv

When Jesus is the Lord of His Church: Truth

In a world that treats truth as optional, Jesus stands as the only Truth. When He becomes Lord—not just Savior—His Word cuts, heals, and transforms us. This is a call to stop reshaping truth to fit our lives and start reshaping our lives around Him, holding grace and truth together as we follow Him fully. For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv

Lessons for Christians Today: New Life in Christ

Transformation isn’t about trying harder—it’s about living from the new life you’ve already been given in Christ. In Colossians 3, Paul reminds us that we don’t strive toward a new identity; we live from it. As those raised with Christ, we’re invited to put off old patterns, put on new practices, and let His peace rule our hearts in the everyday moments of life. For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv

Lessons for Christians Today: Fullness & Freedom in Christ

For many believers, “Jesus is Lord” can remain a theological statement rather than a lived reality. This reflection explores the gap between belief and practice, revealing that true freedom isn’t found in control, options, or self-effort, but in being deeply rooted in Christ. When Jesus is truly Lord, life shifts from striving to fullness, nourished by the only Source that satisfies. The Gift: Unwrap the Gift

We’re often exhausted in our faith—not because God hasn’t given us enough, but because we’re not using what He’s already given. The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, yet many of us keep striving in our own strength. Drawing from Galatians 5, this sermon explores what it means to truly “unwrap” the gift of the Spirit, walk in step with Him, and experience the fruit-filled life Jesus promised—without trying harder, but by surrendering deeper. For more information about what is going on at Hope Christian Church, visit us in person or online!https://www.hopechurchwv.comhttps://facebook.com/hccwv
