Why “Low” Emotions Still Show Up Even After You’ve Done the Work
Send us Fan MailYou’ve grown. You know you have. So why are the same old emotions showing up again? In this episode, we’re unpacking the disorienting experience of feeling “low” emotions after you’ve already done so much inner work. This is for the woman who thought she had moved past the shame, the fear, the grief…only to have it resurface and make her question everything. Those emotions aren’t coming back because you’ve failed. They’re coming back because you’re meeting them from a more expanded version of yourself.Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. You’re not reacting to them, you’re reacting to what you believe about them.
Send us Fan MailWe like to think we’re seeing people clearly. That what we’re reacting to is what’s actually happening. But most of the time? We’re not seeing them. We’re seeing them through us.In this episode, I talk about the moments where I’ve been completely convinced I was right, only to realize I was looking through a very specific lens. One shaped by old beliefs like “I don’t matter” or “I’m not being respected.”When you start to notice the lens… You get a little space. And in that space? You get choice. Not to blame yourself. Not to excuse anyone else. But to shift how you see, and that shifts everything. Because sometimes the most powerful change isn’t out there. It’s in the way you’re looking.Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. The Risk of Being Seen
Send us Fan MailWe women have said we have been invisible for a long time. Especially older women. We're told to be visible, to speak up, to show up fully, but no one really talks about what happens after you do. In this episode, I unpack the real reason being seen feels so risky for women: the judgment, the interpretation, the nervous system responses that make us want to shrink back into safer, more edited versions of ourselves. From business to relationships to aging, this is about the tension between wanting to be deeply known… and wanting to hide at the exact same time. Inspired by Jim Carrey, this episode explores what it actually takes to stay rooted in yourself when you step into visibility and why that might be the real work. When Stress Becomes a Presence
Send us Fan MailI woke up in the middle of the night, completely awake, but I couldn’t move, couldn’t speak, and there was a heavy pressure on my chest. Both times, there was a figure in the room that felt very real. I thought I was losing my mind… until I discovered that women across cultures have been describing this exact experience for centuries, sometimes calling it the Night Hag, the Mare, Kanashibari or as I recently learned, Inoculous.Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. Medicine Isn’t What You Think It Is
Send us Fan MailWhen most people think of medicine, they think of something they take. But what if real medicine isn’t found in a bottle at all?In this episode of Women on the Brink, we explore a different way of understanding healing. One that's rooted in connection, presence, community, and the natural world. From the clinic room to the forest trails, this conversation unpacks how medicine can be something you live, not consume, and why the most powerful forms of healing are often the most subtle.Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. The Courage To Bloom
Send us Fan MailWhat if the life you’re holding onto… is the very thing holding you back? In this episode of Women on the Brink, I share the moment I had to leave a long-term relationship because our values were not aligned. And here's the big question that changed everything: Who do I want to be 10 years from now, and would that woman be proud of the life I’m living today? Send us Fan MailAt some point, healing turns into a full-time job… and your body still feels exhausted. More treatments. More rules. More effort. But what if that’s the problem? Why Boys Struggle to Become Men Today
Send us Fan Mail Why are so many young men searching for answers about masculinity online? In this episode of Women on the Brink, we explore the disappearing rite of passage for boys, the importance of male mentorship, and why the transition from boyhood to manhood has become so unclear in modern culture. Drawing on the work of mythologist Joseph Campbell and examples from traditional societies, we ask: are young men failing, or have we simply stopped guiding them?Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. I'm Turning 65 (And I'm Buying the Pants Anyway)
Send us Fan MailWhy do so many women feel pressure to stop aging at 40? In this episode of Women on the Brink, I unpack the quiet cultural conditioning that tells women they should look forever youthful, and what it takes to push back against it. From a funny shopping trip with my hiking buddy to turning 65 this year, we talk about body image, Botox, social pressure, and why choosing to age with strength, curiosity, and pride might be the most rebellious thing a woman can do.Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. Radical Responsibility - In a World Run by Unregulated Nervous Systems
Send us Fan MailThe headlines feel like a group chat between emotionally reactive world leaders and our nervous systems are tempted to join in.In this episode of Women on the Brink, I explore radical responsibility where I'm choosing to regulate, set boundaries, and steward my own energy, instead of absorbing chaos I didn’t create. Friends, Lovers or Fu#k Buddies?
Send us Fan MailThis episode of Women on the Brink dives into the blurry lines between friend, lover, and casual sex—and why those categories get so complicated for women, especially in midlife. Chris and regular guest Kim Protopappas unpack the emotional grey zones of modern dating: the fear of “having the talk,” the risks of making assumptions, the role of attachment and chemistry, and why so many women settle for half-relationships instead of asking for what they truly want. With honesty, humor, and a little hard-earned wisdom, they explore non-negotiables, red flags, manifestation, and the courage it takes to communicate clearly, reminding us that the real question isn’t what role someone plays in our life, but how we feel about ourselves when we’re with them. The MAGIC of Making Mistakes
Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I’m reframing something so many women quietly carry: mistakes. We’re taught to value formal education, linear careers, and “getting it right.” But what about the lessons we learn from heartbreak, detours, wrong turns, and brave decisions that didn’t go as planned?I share a personal excerpt from my book I'm currently working on and reflect on how wandering, crashing into reality, and losing my footing weren’t failures — they were formative. They taught me boundaries. Independence. Self-trust. Pleasure without apology. And how to hold my own in a world that constantly tries to define women for us.If you’ve ever looked back on your life and thought, I should have known better, this episode is for you.Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. Midlife Grief in Women: Identity Loss, Hormones & How to Pivot After Change
Send us Fan Mail What if the thing that’s making you feel lost, numb, restless—or strangely relieved—isn’t a crisis… but grief? In this episode of Women on the Brink, we explore the quiet, complicated grief that so many women encounter in midlife—the grief of relationships ending (even the right ones), parents aging or dying, careers shifting, identities dissolving, and the younger version of ourselves we can no longer be. Through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, nervous system wisdom, and deeply personal stories, we unpack how grief lives in the body, why it often precedes profound change, and how to pivot—not bounce back—into the next chapter. If you’ve been wondering, Who am I now?… this conversation may help you see that grief isn’t the end. It’s the reorientation. Dating, Self-Value and Finding Yourself in Midlife - with Kim Protopappas
Send us Fan MailWomen on the Brink began as a personal inquiry — an attempt to understand how I kept tripping myself up, not just in romantic relationships, but in my life. I was curious about how smart, capable women (myself included) quietly abandon themselves in ways that are almost invisible. Over time, one truth became clear: women don’t want another conversation about how to attract love — they want to understand how to stop losing themselves. That’s why I’m so glad to welcome back Kim Protopappas as a regular voice on the show. This week, we begin with a simple but powerful question that when Kim said she had come to genuinely love and value herself. What does that actually look like in real life? How does valuing yourself change the pace of connection, the way your body responds, the choices you make? This conversation is about becoming more honest, and finally learning how to stay with yourself. Because sometimes the relationship we’ve been preparing for all along… is the one with ourselves. Tuning In — Moving Through Life With More Ease
Send us Fan Mail What if ease isn’t something you earn — but something you allow? In this episode of Women on the Brink, I explore an idea that’s been quietly reshaping how I move through the world: that we’re not navigating life alone. Inspired by The Light Between Us by Laura Lynne Jackson and a surprising, science-grounded podcast called The Telepathy Tapes, I reflect on the idea of layered support — the universe, a team of light, and our ancestors — not as something dramatic or mystical, but as subtle, relational guidance woven into everyday life. This episode isn’t about belief or being “psychic”; it’s an invitation to consider what might shift if you assumed you were supported, if listening to your body and timing mattered as much as effort — and if the other side has been quietly reaching for you all along. Women Rising: The Power of Small Acts
Send us Fan MailIn this tender, grounding episode of Women on the Brink, I talk about what it really means for women to be “rising” in a world that feels heavy with war, politics, and fear. While the headlines are loud, something quieter and more powerful is happening in kitchens, gardens, beading circles, yoga studios, and small acts of care between women. I reflect on Indigenous and Métis women, women of the global majority, and women everywhere who are holding communities together through love, presence, and nervous-system regulation. This episode is an invitation to rest, to notice the women who have shaped your life, and to remember that even the smallest acts of kindness send ripples of healing into the world. The Witch Awakens: Intuition, Power and the Return of the Feminine
Send us Fan MailIt’s October — the season of thinning veils, when the air itself feels electric. The days shorten, the nights deepen, and if you’re paying attention, there’s a certain shimmer in the ordinary. It’s also the time when witches show up everywhere — in costumes, in old movies, in the collective imagination. Historically, witches were mostly women—who were healers, herbalists, midwives, and wisdom keepers in their communities. They knew plants, weather, fertility cycles, and natural rhythms long before medicine was institutionalized. But as patriarchal religion and early modern state power grew (especially from the 1400s–1700s), those women were persecuted—often accused of “witchcraft” for embodying knowledge and authority outside church and male control. So the word witch became a weapon to destroy feminine power. The Universe Pinged Me Hard (Until I Finally Listened)
Send us Fan MailI’ve come to believe in what I call destiny points — those moments written in our soul’s record, the Akashic Records, where we’re meant to arrive no matter how many detours we take. Sometimes we’re on Path A — the one aligned with our higher plan, guided by the universe and our ancestors. And sometimes, we wander onto Path B — the human path, full of fear, ego, and the illusion of control. When we’re paying attention to the signs and synchronicities laid out for us by the universe, patterns begin to form and our soul map take form. A soul map isn’t something we plan out- that was decided before we got here. It’s something we remember. It unfolds through curiosity, through choices, through willingness to follow breadcrumbs even when they don’t make sense.Join me in this conversation on how we are constantly being guided and shown the path, even when we think we're way off track.Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. The One Trauma Response No One Talks About: Fawning
Send us Fan MailWe’ve all heard about the classic stress responses: fight, flight, or freeze. These are the instinctual ways our nervous system reacts to a perceived threat — either by confronting it, running from it, or shutting down entirely. But there’s a fourth response that gets a lot less attention — and that’s fawning. In this episode we discuss how fawning comes to be and ways we can overcome it.For 1:1 Coaching sessions you can reach Chris here:https://www.womenonthebrink.net/[email protected] the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. Embracing the Yang Energy of Summer
Send us Fan MailIn Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is ruled by the heart, by fire, and by yang — that dynamic, outward, expressive force. It’s the time of year when nature is fully alive, blooming, buzzing, showing off in all her glory. And it’s an invitation for us to do the same — in our own way.So today I want to offer some thoughts on how women can move with the energy of summer without burning out, shutting down, or feeling overwhelmed. Because let’s be honest: summer can be a lot. The pressure to be productive, outdoorsy, and endlessly radiant can start to feel less fun if we aren’t balanced. So let’s talk about how to embrace the yang energy of summer without frying our circuits .Support the showThanks for listening and feel free to follow us on different social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube and on our website www.womenonthebrink.net. Why Rage is a Compass: Unpacking the Feminine Shadow
Send us Fan MailToday we’re stepping into something many of us were taught to avoid, suppress, or fear: RAGE. Not irritability. Not annoyance. Not frustration wrapped in politeness. The deep, volcanic kind of rage that bubbles up from somewhere primal and says: No more. This kind of anger, we’ve been taught, is dangerous, inappropriate, and unfeminine. So if you’re on the brink right now—of yelling, quitting, crying in the car, or walking away from something you can’t pretend about anymore—you are not crazy. You’re coming alive. Rage is not the end. It’s the beginning.
