From time to time when the preacher was away The HSR Church would have some of it's members give the sermon.  The late Dick Green, who was a long standing member of the High School Rd. Church of Christ, gave us, and now you, this sermon.  I hope you will enjoy.

This is a true gem.  I can't tell you how fortunate I was to get this accomplished.  I didn't even realize what I had until after I received.  This was originally on a reel tape.  I didn't even have a working reel to reel player to play it and had to have this professionally rerecorded.  It is mind blowing to have this piece of Church history. The late Herschel Patton preached this particular sermon on July 7th, 1986 at the High School Road Lectureship in Indianapolis, IN.  Maybe you can learn something from this. I'm putting his obituary below for informational purposes. Herschel Erwin Patton, 93, of Huntsville, Ala., passed away Dec. 1, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Spry Funeral Home, Huntsville, Ala., followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. in Booneville, Tenn. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home. Officiating will be Jackie Bradford, Don Patton and Jeff Archer. Mr. Patton, born in Grayson County, Texas, preached the gospel of Christ in Churches of Christ for more than 60 years in Alabama, Tennessee and Texas. In his later years, he also served as an elder with Jordan Park Church of Christ for more than 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sarah Wheeler Patton, and a brother, Marshall E. Patton. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Reba Ashby Patton; three sons, Gary N. Patton and wife, Billie, of Decatur, Ala., Charles E. Patton and wife, Sylvia, of Lake Waccamaw, N.C., Steve A. For many years the Church at High School Road in Indianapolis had a radio program they put on called, "Prove All Things".  The host was John Welch and this particular tape was a "stand by" tape in case John couldn't make the live show happen for what ever reason.  This particular stand by tape was recorded with not only my Father, John Welch, but also his Father Robert Welch.  I hope you will enjoy this. A.C. Grider stood against W.L. Totty on many occasions in debate on the topic of Institutionalism.  Apparently this tape was made to give to those in the Bowling Green, KY area where the debate was to take place.  Unfortunately,  the only date I see on the tape is 1963.  Other than that I do not have a specific date.   Bio of A.C. Unfortunately, I have not ascertained yet as to when this was recorded or where.  If I were to guess it is at the High School Rd. Aude McKee preached this sermon at the High School Road Church of Christ Lectureship on July 15, 1982.  I hope you will enjoy this topic and have a listen. Aude McKee, Age 91 of Madison. June 30, 2011 Preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Verna Nunley McKee and great grandson: Elliott Hunter Bennett. Aude served as a medic in WWII. He returned to become a Gospel preacher for over 50 years, serving congregations in IN, GA, KY, TN & Nigeria. He held gospel meetings throughout the U.S. & was well known for his teaching, his humility & his love for the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 11 years: Otelia Richardson McKee, sons; Larry (Shirley), David (Jeanie), Timothy (Joy) & John (Janay), stepson: Steve (Alicia) Richardson, 9 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Fri. July 1 from 4-8PM with funeral services on Sat, July 2 at Phillips-Robinson Chapel, 2707 Gallatin Rd. at 1PM with Paul Earnhart officiating. This particular lesson was preached on July 6th, 1987 by the late A.W. Goff.  I am pleased to be able to re-record this lesson in digital clarity.  It is a lesson well worth your time.   A.W. Goff was born February 24, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to the late Archie and Ollie (McCrackin) Goff. He passed from this life June 4, 2020 in Russellville, Arkansas, at the age of 91 years. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rayburn Goff and Carlos Goff, two infant sisters, wives, Nadine Wilkes Goff, Hattie Jo Dennis Goff, and Sue Low Goff; son-in-law Robert McNew, daughter Amy Dennis Coffey, and grandson Robby McNew. He is survived by three sisters, Elzada (Ray) Harris, Nola Mulligan and Naomi (Jim) Fannin; children, Paula McNew, Wayne (Emily) Goff, David (Paula) Goff, Todd (Karen) Dennis, Gary (Myrrel Lee) Low, and Beverly (James) Patterson; grandchildren, Jamie (Nathan) Wilkerson, Rebecca Kusters, Kevin Goff, Randy (Megan) Goff, Kathy (Joey) Mendoza, Jennifer Goff, Jeff (Misty) Goff, Anna Lee (Bill) Mann, Dennis (Jessica) Coffey, Daniel (Jillian) Coffey, Andrew Low, Cynthia (Jerome) Salomon, Clay Patterson and Haley (Matt) Haney; and 30 great grandchildren. A.W. began his preaching career at an early age, preaching one of his first sermons under an oak tree beside the church building in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas. He taught some Bible classes as a teenager. He was greatly influenced to become a gospel preacher by his father, Archie, and two mentors - Paul Lusby and Harold Sharp. He preached in several congregations in Northeast Arkansas by appointment. He briefly attended Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, and then began preaching full-time. He preached in Fort Scott, Kansas; Medicine Lodge, Kansas; Bradley, Illinois (5 years); Cash, Arkansas (3 years); the Eastside Church of Christ, Blytheville, Arkansas (3 years); Northside Church of Christ, Conway, Arkansas (5 years); Morrilton, Arkansas (5 years); E. 16th Street Church of Christ, Russellville, Arkansas (33 years). He held many gospel meetings throughout the country during these years, often conducting 12-15 meetings per year. He converted countless individuals, strengthened the churches where he went, made life-long friends of the brethren, and had a sterling reputation throughout his 60-year career. He conducted his sole debate in Morrilton, Arkansas in 1977. He conducted countless weddings and funerals. A.W. will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Graveside service and burial will be Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville. Mr. Mike Pittman and Mr. Leon Goff will officiate.
