    7. The Open Door (Revelation 3:7-13)

Episode Summary Jesus’ work in the church at Philadelphia teaches us something very important, that a struggling church may yet have great opportunities for the gospel. But there testimony also reminds us of another, equally important truth—that we must be careful what you trust to make you part of God’s family, because only Jesus himself is the open doorway into God’s royal household. Read the Bible passage here: Revelation 3:7-13 Series Summary This message was preached on 12 March 2017 as part of a Bible teaching series on the first three chapters of the book of Revelation in the New Testament, especially the letters to the seven churches in the province of Asia Minor. 6. Dead Church Walking (Revelation 3:1-6)

Episode Summary The world looks at the church in Sardis and sees a living church. Jesus looks at the church at Sardis and sees a dead church. What killed it? And why is its 'life' an illusion? Of course, all hope is not yet lost – there are still a few who can make a difference, if only they would wake up. Read the Bible passage here: Revelation 3:1-6 Series Summary This message was preached on 5 March 2017 as part of a Bible teaching series on the first three chapters of the book of Revelation in the New Testament, especially the letters to the seven churches in the province of Asia Minor. 5. Tolerating Jezebel (Revelation 2:18-29)

Episode Summary The church at Thyatira represents something of a paradox: a church that is keeping on for Jesus and commended by him on the one hand, while on the other hand is tolerating the kind of behaviour that wouldn’t please Jesus at all. It reminds us of the danger a seemingly ‘healthy’ church can have when we begin to tolerate the kind of behaviour that is more like the world than the kingdom of Heaven. Read the Bible passage here: Revelation 2:18-29 Series Summary This message was preached on 26 February 2017 as part of a Bible teaching series on the first three chapters of the book of Revelation in the New Testament, especially the letter to the seven churches in the province of Asia Minor. 4. Where the Devil Dwells (Revelation 2:12-17)

Episode Summary Despite standing firm as followers of Jesus in the face of horrendous persecution, the church at Pergamum had drifted from their true north in God’s Word. Their experience shows how easily our society, our culture, and our own hearts’ desires can begin to shift our trust in God and his Word. Read the Bible passage here: Revelation 2:12-17 Series Summary This message was preached on 19 February 2017 as part of a Bible teaching series on the first three chapters of the book of Revelation in the New Testament, especially the letter to the seven churches in the province of Asia Minor. 3. Facing Prison (Revelation 2:8-11)

Episode Summary Persecution is a reality for followers of Jesus in a world hostile to him and his gospel. But in the modern West, real persecution often seems very distant to us. Of course, we ought to pray for, support and encourage our persecuted brothers and sisters in other parts of the world in whatever way we can, but what if things had to change in our land tomorrow? Are we ready to face ridicule, violence and even death for the name of Jesus? Read the Bible passage here: Revelation 2:8-11 Series Summary This message was preached on 12 February 2017 as part of a Bible teaching series on the first three chapters of the book of Revelation in the New Testament, especially the letter to the seven churches in the province of Asia Minor. 2. First Love Lost (Revelation 2:1-7)

Episode Summary While sound Biblical teaching is essential for a healthy church, a church cannot stand on teaching alone. Sound teaching must generate love for God, and love for neighbour, both inside and outside the church, or that church is in danger of being removed as a witness to Jesus in the world. Read the Bible passage here: Revelation 2:1-7 Series Summary This message was preached on 05 February 2017 as part of a Bible teaching series on the first three chapters of the book of Revelation in the New Testament, especially the letter to the seven churches in the province of Asia Minor. 1. Seeing Jesus (Revelation 1:1-20)

Episode Summary John’s vision of the risen, ascended and glorified Jesus is absolutely awe-inspiring, and it’s the essential introduction for the whole book of Revelation. But how does this ‘revelation of Jesus Christ’ (v1) compare to the ways we often think of Jesus? Read the Bible passage here: Revelation 1:1-20 Series Summary This message was preached on 29 January 2017 as part of a Bible teaching series on the first three chapters of the book of Revelation in the New Testament, especially the letter to the seven churches in the province of Asia Minor.
