Work Hard
by Hyper Premium
What we have, God has given us. Of all the great ideas that evolved in the last decade, only a few have had the appropriate framing. So many young men are close to the truth but just miss the mark. In culture, personal development, and politics our aim should be the fulfillment of God's plan for us. This is the goal of Work Hard. In the name of that pursuit, we'll discuss pretty much anything that touches culture and individual responsibility. hyperpremium.substack.com

Let Yourself Off the Hook - Ep105
There is legitimate guilt from God that serves to drive us to repentance for our sins. There is also illegitimate, self-imposed guilt that we hold onto after God has forgiven us. Self-imposed guilt is, at its core, a rejection of God’s ability to forgive you and wipe you clean once you have repented. It’s a long one this week boys. Take a drive and listen in. Men and Their Failures - Ep103
Women will fill any void that men neglect. If you, as a husband, fail to fix the sink, take out the trash, and make good decisions, your wife will fill those roles as well as her own. But don’t expect a pleasant home life if you pass off your duties. Hen-pecking results from a husband who is a poor leader and a wife who is unloved. Pick up the pace guys. Lead your wives lovingly. Ep101: Raccoons and Diamonds
Too many normies out there like to gripe about how much time, money, and energy their kids suck up, as if children are some burden or curse they have to bear for 18 years before they are finally free to take back their own lives and do what really makes them happy. We say that’s a load of selfish bunk. Ain’t nobody more rested than a daddy who’s just wrestled with his kids, or a mom who delights in the crickets and flowers her children bring to her. So, kick your fears of child-rearing in the hindquarters, have some children, and share in the wonder of God’s creation with them. Family stories, wild imaginations, and nonsensical games of Calvin Ball await you. Get out there and Dad it up. Ep100: Don't Fear the Fever
As an unofficial thanks to our 3% UK listener base, Ethan talks about how the youths of Great Britain are drawing attention to the ever-widening culture gap developing in their country. For the second half of the episode, we talk over the complexity of market forces. We hope to draw attention to the fact that there are no easy or simplistic answers to correcting any of the economic problems that Americans face. Whenever or however the economic correction and restructuring occurs, it’s going to be a rough ride, but the rougher it is, the quicker the recovery should be. Fevers are necessary to kill disease. You should not fear them, because for a Christian, God is on your side. If He cares for every sparrow that falls to the ground, how much more does He care for you? Prepare diligently and brace for impact, men. We love you and we’re praying for you! Do you have a question/topic that you want addressed on the show? Email us! Ep96: Clarification Protocol
This is a special episode of WORK HARD. We have received enough questions and concerns that we felt it prudent to explain, in detail, to the best of our abilities, why the podcast exists, who it is for, why we use the tone and words that we do, and what we are attacking. This is more than double the length of our normal episodes, so it is divided into sections and labeled accordingly so that you can more easily find answers to questions or issues that you may have had in listening to previous episodes. We don’t expect that this will quell every question or concern; It may even add to them in some areas, but we want to explain our positions so that others may at least disagree without confusion. If you have questions or concerns, you can reach both Ethan and Jason by emailing us at [email protected] Our deep and profound thanks to those that have supported us. EP80: Conversion Theory
Intro: Hypochondriacs vs Themselves, and Indians vs Trains.Between the Couch Cushions: Jason recommends "The Adventures of Tintin." No, not the animated movie of course. This is Jason we're talking about. Get the original graphic novels! Ethan introduces the rock band Flyleaf. Get you some of that, brother.Main Topic: An impromptu discussion about martyrdom and conversion experiences. Ethan shares his own coming to faith story. You don't want to miss this one.We love you and we're praying for you!Follow Jason here:https://www.instagram.com/footsoldier4christ/https://x.com/theJasonGoodmanFollow Ethan here:https://www.instagram.com/megathreat/https://x.com/UnlimitedHarmSupport Hyper Premium: https://buymeacoffee.com/hyperpremiumEmail: [email protected]: Jason's story of the martyr who was burned at the stake was regarding Archbishop Thomas Cranmer. Jason got one detail wrong: Cranmer did not turn himself back in to be martyred. Cranmer had been sentenced to death for defying the pope's authority. He recanted his position after three years of imprisonment, pressure, betrayal, and having been stripped of his church office. He was not released from prison however, and eventually caught wind that he would be burned at the stake regardless. He had been miserable for recanting, and so when he was asked to read his recantment before his execution, he instead testified as to the truth, afterward putting his right hand into the fire first to be burned because it was with his right hand that he had written the recantment. Ep74: Addiction in the Expedient Age

Destroying a system in order to implement a better one is a messy process. Brace for impact and pray for better times in the future. Between the Couch Cushions: Ethan recommends “The Black Cauldron,” a 1985 animated movie based on the novel series “The Chronicles of Prydain” by Lloyd Alexander (which are also really good, so check those out as well). Jason recommends “Treasure Planet,” a 2002 animated movie based on the book “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson.Main Topic: The boys talk about the new age of sports betting and how the economic depression among young men is affecting how they spend their time and coin. Ep73: Bountiful Planet
Intro: The boys share pyro and pressure washing stories. Between the Couch Cushions: Ethan recommends the original “Blade Runner” by Ridley Scott, and Jason recommends the novella “Farmer Giles of Ham” by JRR Tolkien. Main Topic: Any scarcity of resources in the universe is purely a result of mismanagement. God did not give mankind the mandate to fill the earth without providing the means to feed those people. There is no population bomb, no real shortages, and no way that mankind can destroy the earth before Christ is ready to return. Believe the promises God has made to us; be highly critical of what people tell you regarding the planet’s wellbeing. Like this podcast? Tell someone about it or share it on your socials. The boys talk about how to distinguish a fool from a fool, and how to interact with them.“Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Ep71: The Taming of the Shrewd
Intro: Ethan is getting half a house built, and his dishwasher is getting a dishwasher. Have you ever assembled a 1000 piece puzzle in a cramped closet using only a hand-cranked flashlight? Between the Couch Cushions: Jason thinks you should listen to Paul Simon’s Graceland album. Ethan reminds us that “Ocean’s 11” is sick.Main Topic: This is an episode for the new husbands out there, and perhaps the older husbands who don’t lead the way they should. It’s not a popular topic in our feminized culture, but that’s not uncommon for this podcast. We advocate a tender, firm approach, which we believe is Biblical. Ep70: Steven Lawson, Brown Recluse
Disclaimer: This episode includes discussion of sexual allegations directed at Christian public figures. All information regarding the allegations, or responses to the allegations, is hearsay and has not been thoroughly researched by Hyper Premium. These allegations are being used purely for discussion purposes. Intro: Ethan explains ‘brain spotting,’ Jason talks about his soil-building experiments, and the boys discuss what Alfalfa (of Little Rascals fame) is doing now. Between the Couch Cushions: Ethan brings “Fire and Ice” (animated movie directed by Ralph Bakshi) to our attention. Jason suggests that “The Book of Virtues” (compiled by William J. Bennett) makes a good supplement for devotions with your children. Main Topic: Ethan and Jason discuss how to view the failures of Christian leaders. What do you do when your hero is hit with sexual allegations? When do you stop listening to them? Does their sin negate all their previous work? It’s important to realize the limits of our information and our ability to know things with absolute certainty. We are finite creatures. Ultimately, we need to fall back to scripture and be careful not to idolize leaders. Sola Scriptura, brothers and sisters. Ep68 A Man and His Yurt
Intro: Vivek got himself fired for being a fake American-Indian. Ethan and Jason discuss being true to who God made you, and being genuine instead of manipulative. Also, why are hot, bikini chicks back at Carl’s Jr? And why are so-called conservatives cheering it? ‘Conservative’ is not a useful term and should be abandoned, but what do we use in its place? The American culture seems to be coming around to Christianity, including some very public figures who are often crass. There is an adjustment period for them. Be ready to receive them and love them and pray for them. Between the Couch Cushions: Jason recommends the 1993 movie “Dave", starring Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver. Ethan tells us about the movie “THX 1138,” George Lucas’ directorial debut. Main Topics: The intro bleeds into the main topic on this episode. Who is “American”? In this melting pot experiment, who determines what American culture is? Is it inherently American to move for work or school and be rootless? In a country that is still young, we are in a bit of an identity crisis. Ethan and Jason assert that the time of the American nomad is over. It’s time to settle and build communities. Forsake the idol of Individuality. Build, baby, build. This is a public episode. Ep66: Inferiority and its Complexes
This is a landmark episode because the boys address their first listener question as the main topic! How do you lead in a relationship if you feel inferior to the woman? Between the Couch Cushions: Two more great media recommendations from fellas with great taste. Jason talks about the children’s novel “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH,” and Ethan recommends the classic TV show, “Cheers.”Shoot us an email at [email protected] your friends and your dads about the show. ABOUT THIS SHOW
What we have, God has given us.
