Worldly Spiritual

A discussion about life, from a spiritual perspective.

  1. 7

    Giving Thanks

Who do we give thanks for? It's NOT people who are out for themselves, who build wealth in money, power and influence. We give thanks for people think of others, who build wealth in the goodwill of others. If you think too much about yourself, now's the time to change. We talk about giving thanks from a spiritual sense but also in a worldly sense, in keeping with the title of the podcast. You're also given an assignment at the end - to spend your Thanksgiving building relationships with others - instead of just lying around after big meal (and did you thank the cook(s)?

  2. 6

    Spiritual Cooking

Cooking is spiritual. Good food contains the love and passion of the cook in addition to quality ingredients. Jibril talks about his work as a chef and how he embodied his love and passion into this artform. We talk about the alchemy of cooking and how it relates to developing someone spiritually, as well as how one's emotions actually do become part of the dishes being prepared.

  3. 5

    Inshallah - God Willing

"Inshallah" or "God willing" - what does it mean and how is it being used? Also, at what point, when we're doing everything WE can do to help a loved one, do we turn over things to the spiritual? Jibril and Mark talk about different aspects of living life based on your perspective versus being led.

  4. 4

    The Spiritual Worldview

Your worldview dictates how you interact with the world and how you respond to situations in it. Jibril and Mark share their views on spirituality, how to develop it and how it motivates you to be more loving to those around you.

  5. 3

    Selfless versus Selfish

It's easy for the lures of the world to change us from being selfless, thinking about others, to being selfish, thinking about ourselves. We talk about the characteristics of both and how to change from being selfish to being selfless. How many selfish people does it take to screw in a light bulb? Find out now!

  6. 2

    Adversities are Opportunities

We learn more through adversity than through good times, as many people can attest. These times are actually good opportunities to build your character - knowing who you are, what you believe and what you stand for. Your ability to deal with adversity depends on how you approach it. If you look at it as a learning opportunity, you are more likely to endure it with a positive outlook.

  7. 1

    Let the Light Shine In

Light in spiritual literature is a metaphor for goodness and hope, among other things. We talk about its uses in the different world religions, but also how we can apply it in our lives - to be others-centered and to bring hope to others.
