    Anger is a Behavior

In this Treasure episode from Marauder Radio, Bob explores anger as a behavioral expression driven by powerful emotions and shaped by how we process the world around us.By understanding that anger — kicking, screaming, swearing, fighting, punching, yelling, and all the other behaviors we associate with being angry — is ultimately a behavior, we can begin to recognize our ability to change it. When we change how we interpret, understand, and respond to the situations happening around us, we can also change our reactions.Shifting this cognitive process of interpretation and understanding is the key to healing and to ending the negative outcomes that often result from anger-driven behaviors.

    Heal Your Anger

In this "treasured episode" of Marauder Radio, I explore anger not just as a feeling, but as both a behavioral and physiological response to our thinking. Our thoughts drive our emotions—and those emotions, in turn, activate real physical responses in our bodies. Those emotional and physical reactions need expression. They will come out in some form of behavior. When that behavior looks like yelling, kicking, screaming, fighting, punching, drinking, or using drugs, we label it as “anger.”But what’s really happening beneath the surface? These behaviors are ways the body releases the energy of the fight-or-flight stress response—fueled by deeper emotions like hurt, fear, or both.At its core, anger is the sound that hurt and fear make as they leave our soul.

    What Drives Motivation

You hear it all the time: “Don’t try harder—try smarter.” And just as often: “I just need to get motivated… I need to try harder.”But here’s the reality—motivation isn’t something you force. It’s something you feel. It’s intrinsic. Internal.Motivation doesn’t respond well to pressure—it responds to ignition. That ignition usually comes from two places:Inspiration—something outside of you that sparks interest, meaning, or desire.Outcomes—your honest evaluation of whether what you’re doing is actually working. So if you’re feeling stuck or unmotivated, don’t default to pushing harder.Instead, ask yourself two better questions: What’s inspiring me to do this? And is what I’m doing actually producing results?Because motivation isn’t built by grinding harder—it’s built by connecting what matters with what works.

    I, Me & My

When you’re advocating for yourself in conversation, remember this:the "I's" have it.Stay focused on your experience—what you’re thinking, feeling, wanting, needing, and expecting. That’s why we use “I,” “me,” and “my.”When you speak from your side of the street, people stay focused on you—on what you’re actually communicating. It gives the listener clearer information and makes it easier for them to reflect, affirm, and validate what you’re saying. And just as important—it lowers defensiveness.

    Advocate Collaborate Negtiate

The Advocate–Collaborate–Negotiate communication strategy is a simple, three-step approach to creating healthy, efficient, and effective interactions. It helps you navigate challenges, solve problems, and find real solutions—together. When you follow these three steps, you’ll not only improve how you problem-solve, but also strengthen collaboration and build deeper, more meaningful connections in your relationships.

    Acknowledge, Accept, & Replace

When it comes to managing anxiety, there may be no better medicine than taking action. In this "treasured episode" of Marauder Radio, I walk through a simple, memorable framework—fittingly built around the letter “A”: Acknowledge – Accept – Act (or Replace). When you begin to feel anxious, the first step is to acknowledge it. Be present. Call it out for what it is instead of avoiding or denying it.The second step is to accept it. Gather the data. Look at the facts and the logic behind why you might be feeling this way. Acceptance doesn’t mean agreement—it means understanding.Once you’ve acknowledged and accepted your anxiety, you’re ready to act. That might mean taking a concrete step forward, or it might mean replacing the thoughts that are driving the emotional and physical response we call anxiety.
