On the Same Page with Your Partner Regarding Religion, Politics, and Morals thumbnail

On the Same Page with Your Partner Regarding Religion, Politics, and Morals

11/05/2024 8 min 46 sec

One thing I’ve come to realize and love about my relationship with my husband (there are many) is that we are on the same page politically, morally, and religiously. These are important things to note when you are dating someone and talking about marriage. No, you don’t have to agree on everything, but in my opinion the big stuff you should.  If you are single, dating, talking about getting married, I would ask these 3 questions What are their religious beliefs? What are their morals? What are their political views? These are hard topics to discuss, I get it, but they are vitally important in a relationship. Think about it, you want to spend the rest of your life with this person. This is the person you will be making all your decisions with. This is the person you will be raising your children with. This is the person you are sharing your finances with. This is the person you will live with. This is an important decision. I cannot stress this enough!! Making a List About Your Future Partner thumbnail

Making a List About Your Future Partner

06/11/2024 12 min 11 sec

Do you know what you are looking for in a partner? Do you know the characteristics and traits they would have? If you answered no to these questions, it may be time to sit down and write out a list of what you are looking for in a future partner. I'm not talking about physical traits. I'm talking about if they love Jesus, are loyal, outgoing, fun to be around, have a sense of humor, have integrity. Someone suggested I write out a list of what I was looking for in a future husband. I searched my heart for what I truly wanted in a partner and invited God into the process. My list is about 6 pages of characteristics and at the end I wrote out a prayer. This may be something you need to do to become clear as to who you are looking for. This made dating less overwhelming for me and I was able to sift through guys I didn't want to date because of this list. This list is not meant for you to be closed minded, but it will help you be firm in your non-negotiables and not settle. I want to hear from you! If you decide to make a list tell me! Changing Your Mindset Around Online Dating thumbnail

Changing Your Mindset Around Online Dating

05/28/2024 12 min 29 sec

There was a point in time when I was set on meeting my future husband “organically.” I had this dream that I would meet him through friends, mutual friends, or doing something I love. I didn't want my story to be "we met online." With diving into my relationship with Jesus, working on myself, and truly wanting to be with a quality guy, I started to change my mindset around online dating. My mantra became it doesn't matter how I meet my husband, it's who he is. With this shift I was able to go into online dating with a new perspective and trust that God can use any situation for me to meet my husband. Dating online isn't easy, but with the help of my dating coach I was able to put parameters around online dating to make it not so overwhelming and discouraging for me. I have complied those tips into a free guide for you to use yourself. It's called "Do's and Don'ts of Online Dating." If you would like this free guide, click here! The Foundations of Marriage and How to Prepare for Marriage thumbnail

The Foundations of Marriage and How to Prepare for Marriage

01/23/2024 21 min 59 sec

In this episode, I discuss the foundations of marriage according to a book I've been reading. It's call "Happy Wives Club" by Fawn Weaver. If you are a wife and haven't read this book, I encourage you to do so. She visits 12 countries, 6 continents, with 1 mission, to find the secret of marriage. She interviews a number of married couples and they all say the same secret! I dive into what the Bible says the role of a husband and wife are. I mention Ephesians 5:22, 25 saying wives submit to your husbands, and husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church. The world has taken these verses out of context. Women think they don't need a man and can stand in the role of a man. This is a wrong way of thinking. According to scripture, both play important roles in a marriage. If you are single, what I talk about in this episode is important to keep in mind and prepare your heart for what is to come. The way you can prepare is to have an intimate relationship with Jesus. Here is a link the the book "Happy Wives Club," by Fawn Weaver I offer one on one coaching for single women. You may be thinking, will I ever meet someone worthwhile? Will it ever be my turn? Will dating lead me to meeting someone I want to spend the rest of my life with? The answer is YES! DO NOT SETTLE! I had a coworker tell me I needed to compromise what I was looking for in a partner. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to her. You do not need to compromise or settle. I know it can be hard. Interview with Kristy Alexander Garvanne: Her Beauty Business, the Joys of Singleness, God's Timing

12/06/2023 40 min 55 sec

I chat with my friend Kristy about entrepreneurship, her business, singleness, and meeting our husbands later in life.  In this episode she shares about how and why she started her business. She had a dream at 15 years old of having a skin care line one day, and many years later her dream became a reality. This episode is filled with lots of wise nuggets and encouragement for those of you who are single and how to prepare.  Some things we shared God doesn't give us desires to be cruel Maximize the season you are in. Be happy in each season. It is not the job of the other person (spouse) to make you happy. Prepare yourself to be the best version of yourself you can be.  Continue to stay in faith. There’s a balance of staying present and wishing for what is ahead. It’s ok to have the down moments, why me? When is it going to happen for me? Trust God’s timing. You may be ready, but the other person may not. Singleness is a beautiful time. Use the time to focus on yourself. Self awareness is key. Allow God to be the author of your story. A safe place to be yourself, to be unashamed. I recently got together with my friends from college and it made me realize what a blessing it is to have a solid group of friends to do life with. It is a breath of fresh air when you get to be around those people that you feel so comfortable you don't have to hold anything back. Do you know that feeling? Maybe you know the opposite, when you are around certain people you can’t truly express yourself or you can’t truly be yourself due to judgment, disagreements that turn into arguments, or a lack of respect and understanding for each other.  No matter what stage of life you are in, it is so important to have quality friends. I Feel Convicted to Tell You thumbnail

I Feel Convicted to Tell You

03/30/2023 17 min 14 sec

Three year ago I wrote a book and I feel convicted to talk about the subject of my book, the Holy Spirit. This is a part of the trinity not many churches talk about or they are unsure of, afraid of. I'm here to tell you miracles, healing, spiritual gifts like speaking in tongues all still happen today! Do you have faith to see it? This is definitely more common in other countries most likely because they are open to it and have faith. Here in America the spiritual realm is seen as strange and off-putting. I want to talk about these things and the fears you may have of what the Holy Spirit can do in and through you. I was once in your shoes. I was unsure and afraid of the power of the Holy Spirit. But I stepped into that fear and God met me in a radical way. I want to have open conversations about this topic. Ask questions. I am not an expert, but there is a reason God told me to write this book. Whether it was to organize my experiences and thoughts on the matter, and dive deep into scripture to now be able to share with you who Holy Spirit is and the things you may be missing in your life as a Christian. In the episode I reference many Bible verses in regards to the Spirit and I will list those for you here to take a look at yourself. What Defines Identity? thumbnail

What Defines Identity?

05/31/2022 13 min 37 sec

I spoke with 40 students at a FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) meeting a few weeks ago. In this episode, I share with you what I shared with them, because I feel it is relevant to all of us. I asked them, what is identity and where does your identity lie? We can get so caught up in the things of this world and they can become who we believe we are. What happens if that very thing you pride yourself in, whether it’s your career, sport, activity, is gone in an instant? Anything can happen. When we put our identity into things of this world, they can be gone instantly. Who is forever constant, never changing, faithful, and full of love for you? We talk about this and more. I share an excerpt related to this topic from my book, “A God You’ve Never Met.” I have a newly updated website and I'm taking new coaching clients! nikkiromani.com

Give Up Your Timeline

04/15/2022 10 min 18 sec

Do you have a plan for your life, but your plans never seem to work out the way you hope they would? This couldn't be more true for me. I have made plan after plan, and they don't seem to go as I had hoped. I planned to be married by the time I was 26 and have kids before 30. Guess what? I'm 33 and still not married and no kids! What do you do when this happens? In my time of waiting and uncertainty, I've turned to God and focused on my relationship with him. I've come to realize that I need to give up the timeline I have for myself, and give God control. He knows what I need when I need it better than I do.  I've written about the start of my intimate relationship with God in my book (it's a life long journey). Why is it important to read the labels of the foods, beverages, and even the products we use on our bodies and around the house? Because the front of a product can be deceiving and we don't know what's actually in the product until we read the ingredients. We live in a toxic world and we need to be aware and mindful of the things we are putting in our bodies. This will help us to live a happy, healthier life! I give tips on what to look for and make it simple when something like this can seem overwhelming.  I share some accounts that I've found helpful for me on this journey. I Ain't Single No More

01/06/2021 13 min 49 sec

Singleness and dating have been quite the journey for me. My first and last boyfriend was in high school (we were on and off throughout college), and I dated 2 guys from then until now. So yeah, I know what it means to be single.  Two years ago, I got a matchmaker (what's a matchmaker you ask? Find out here.) and have been on and off of dating apps. NOTHING. Honestly, nothing happened. My matchmaker couldn't find me a date and I was getting discouraged and wondering if this would ever happen for me. Then I was reminded of a vision God gave me 7 years ago of my wedding day and I knew this would happen for me one day. But when? This has been a journey and I am happy to tell you, I AIN'T SINGLE NO MORE by the grace of God. He gifted me with the most incredible boyfriend. In the end, this was all worth it.  I share my update in this episode and speak to all the singles out there! I understand. I get it, but trust me, it's worth the wait.

About My Book

02/12/2020 11 min 4 sec

When I tell people I am writing a book, I'm asked two questions: What is your book called? What is your book about? In this episode, I answer these questions. I share the story behind writing the book in the first place. It was never a goal or dream of mine to write a book. Never saw never. God gave me this opportunity and I refused at first. He was gracious enough to give me second and third chances but after 2 months of refusing, he gave me an ultimatum that I couldn't refuse anymore.   A brief overview of the book: I share my religious background and beliefs growing up I share my radical transformation with the Holy Spirit The person in my life who has influenced me even with her being gone My personal experiences with seeing angels, encountering demons, visions, dreams, hearing God's voice, spiritual gifts What the Bible says about the Holy Spirit I may be biased, but there are a lot of great stories in this book! Why You Need a Mentor thumbnail

Why You Need a Mentor

12/12/2019 11 min 19 sec

Why is it important to have someone speak into your life? Why is it important to have someone to bounce ideas off of? They will push you to be better. They can be a sounding board. They can help you make decisions by talking it through. Hopefully they are wiser than you and can offer their insight on the matter.  What to look for in a mentor? Do you share similar beliefs? Do you like the outcome of their life thus far? Do you like their character? Are they a step or more ahead of you spiritually and mentally? Do you like them? Do you feel comfortable around them? Will they challenge you and encourage you? Are they respectful and loving? Ask them to be your mentor. Mentors can be in person, but they can also be in the form of books, or someone you follow online that you look up to. Look for someone who is where you want to be and follow them, do what they do.  I have mentors online and in person. I really love having a mentor in person that I can chat with face to face. She knows me personally and can speak into each situation and decision I need to make. It's wonderful!  Look at the people you have in your life. Is there someone you look up to? Someone you want to be like? Someone you already have a relationship with? Start there. Do you need a mentor? I'm here for you. What is Your Identity? thumbnail

What is Your Identity?

11/20/2019 11 min 56 sec

Do you realize the thing you put your identity in, if it’s a worldly thing, can be taken away at any moment? If or rather when it does, who are you? Identity is the qualities, beliefs, personality, looks and/or expressions that make a person; self-image. who you are, the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world and the characteristics that define you. Ask yourself these questions: How do I view myself? How am I perceived by the world? What are my characteristics and traits? Who does God say that I am? You are made in his image Genesis 1:27 "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."  You are co-heir with Christ Romans 8:17 "Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." You are fearfully and wonderfully made Ps 139:14  "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Take time to sit and think about these questions. Write down your answers. I'm writing a book! Interested in being a part of the book launch? We Need to be Awakened thumbnail

We Need to be Awakened

11/07/2019 10 min 44 sec

There's one word I've been hearing over and over. It has been sticking out to me. I've heard it in songs, people have said it, the name of my church is this... AWAKEN Hillsong recently released an album and the song "Awake my Soul" has been playing on repeat in my home. My church is called Awakening International. I watched a documentary movie on Youtube called "Sheep Among Wolves Vol. 2" and they talk about the awakening of the people of Iran starting an underground church and it's rapidly growing. INCREDIBLE! You must watch it! There was something in that movie that caught my attention. An Iranian woman moved to the US with her husband to escape persecution, but after being in the States she begged her husband to move back to Iran. Why? Because she said America is asleep. Satan is singing a silent lullaby.  That statement hit me hard. This is exactly what I've been feeling. Are we all spiritually asleep? God is moving and we are missing him. Kanye West has been awakened. I've even heard him talk about it in an interview. He is a new man by the power of God.  I've written a book that will be out the beginning of next year, and now I know God's perfect timing with all of it. I've been working on this book for 2.5 years and it's all about the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, spiritual warfare, and the power that lives within us. This is what people need. They need to be awakened to the power of God! Last week I talked about burnout. The feeling as though life is passing you by too quickly and you can't keep up! If you feel tried and exhausted, you may be experiencing burnout. Listen to that episode by clicking here.  This week I share with you how resting actually helped me beat some personal records in weight lifting and helped me to feel strong while riding 60 miles on a road bike. I took some time off, slept more, listened to when my body needed to stretch or go for a walk instead, and drank lots of water. I still would lift weights and go to the gym, but not as often or as frequent as I used to. There is such a thing as over exercising and I think I may have experienced that. I was shocked at my results when I took this necessary time to rest.  Listen to this episode to hear what happened.

I recently returned home (less than a week ago!) from an unforgettable experience all because I sent a cold email 2 months ago. I put myself out there and told whoever was at the other end of the email who I was- a life coach and athletic trainer passionate about helping others find their identity in Jesus. Within 24 hours I received a reply asking me if I could get on a phone call as soon as possible. This was the beginning of an answer to my prayer I didn't know I needed.  This wonderful group I ended up going to Barcelona, Spain with is Athletes in Action .  This was a trip I will never forget. I walked away with sisters and I am forever grateful God chose me to be a part of this opportunity.  Listen in to hear what I learned while on this trip and where God is calling me next (ok I haven't quite figured that out yet, but I know it has to do with female college athletes. Training for a Triathlon thumbnail

Training for a Triathlon

07/10/2019 11 min 48 sec

Whether you are training for a triathlon, another race of some kind, a hike….these steps will help you feel more prepared. I felt the most prepared when I hiked Mt. Whitney a few years ago. I did research, spoke to people who had done it before, did training hikes, cross trained, elevation trained, etc. While I was on the hike, it was hard, but I felt good. I felt prepared. This only comes with training- physically, and mentally.  5 Steps: Put it on the calendar Give yourself at least 3 months to train Drink lots of water and get quality sleep Modify workouts week of Have fun! If you are thinking about doing a race, a hike, stop thinking about it and do it! Sign up or mark it on your calendar. If you are thinking about doing a race, a hike, stop thinking about it and do it! Sign up or mark it on your calendar- get the permits. Do whatever you need to do to commit yourself to this event. Bring friends in. I find my friends are more likely to join if I jump on board and commit myself. I, of course, talked with them about it first, put the bug in their ear, but then there comes a time you have to just do it. This happened with getting permits for Mt Whitney, and committing to this triathlon. I got the permits for Whitney and then whoever could come came. I signed up for the tri and told my friends and this is when they knew I was talking serious business.  If you want something to happen you must take action. You can’t wait for someone else to do it. Once you step out, others will join. And even if they don’t, you are doing this for yourself!  Follow me on Instagram @nikkiromani to see how I train and get updates on the results from the triathlon I'm in! Don't Stop at Your Goal

Many people set goals for themselves, but once they hit that goal they stop. I read in the book “Atomic Habits” that we should create systems. Yes, it’s good to have a place in mind you want to be, however, this isn’t the finish line. When you are living your life, you are never at the finish line. There is always an opportunity to grow, to learn, to improve. If you hit a goal, keep going, don’t stop. Two episodes I mention: Moving Your Body Morning Routine (Episode 030)

This is what happens when you jump into something unknown, risky, out of your comfort zone.  Things to remember: This is your life and you need to do what you feel is best. Don’t worry about what other people think. It’s not about them. Don’t worry about disappointing others. Again, it’s not about them, it's about you doing what you feel is best for your life and what you feel God wants you to do. If you are a person of faith, it’s not about you. It’s about what God is doing and how he is going to use you to do it. Pressure to Perform as an Athlete thumbnail

Pressure to Perform as an Athlete

06/12/2019 14 min 47 sec

Athletes have a strong work ethic. They are determined, motivated (for the most part- even if they do complain sometimes), driven. There is a lot of pressure to perform well. This meaning, you must be perfect or you get pulled. There’s pressure from coaches, teammates, yourself. This is different from doing your best. I think doing your best is all you can do, but some of us try to push it too far and that’s when injury happens and burnout occurs. Please always do your best. Always push yourself to be better, but don’t do it to the point you hate yourself or the sport because of it or you experience something like adrenal fatigue because you aren’t giving your body the rest it needs. I have a few solutions for you to help you make your decision, and to be ok with letting go. Solutions: Know who you are. Do you know who you are? Or are you still trying to figure that out. Take a moment to think about all the things you enjoy doing. It may or may not include the sport you currently play and that’s ok. What lights you up? What brings you joy? For me, it is going to the beach, being in the sunshine, playing beach vball, snowboarding, working out, helping athletes find their identity. Enneagram books: Road Back to You, Enneagram Made Easy Enneagram instagram accounts: @enneagram.life, @enneagramandcoffee Spend some time alone to think of what you really want. Spend time dreaming. Write out what you would want to do if money and time weren’t an issue. Don’t hold back. If you didn’t have to worry about anyone else. What dreams do you have? I recently did an exercise from Rachel Hollis’ book “Girl, Stop Apologizing” - 10 years, 10 dreams, 1 goal. In 10 years, what do you want to be doing? Where do you want to live? Are you married? Have kids? How are you feeling? What traits do you have? Do you want to run a business? What does your house look like? 10 dreams- no limits and be specific- do you want to be healthy, do you want to be CEO of a company? 1 goal- what is one goal that will get you closer to your dreams? Pivotal Moments with Ruth-Joy Connell

06/05/2019 43 min 41 sec

Today I have a great conversation with a new friend of mine, Ruth-Joy Connell. She is founder of RJ Connell Consulting as an income strategist helping creative and service-based entrepreneurs generate more profit by implementing strategy and systems around their time and money. If you want to live the life you choose and have freedom, Ruth-Joy is your girl. But she didn't set out to be an entrepreneur. Her path was to become a surgeon. Through the struggle of juggling jobs to be able to make ends meet and failing in school, she came to a point in her life she had to make a decision. Was this what she really wanted? Was this the legacy she wanted to leave behind? Why was she pursuing life as a surgeon when she was already making plans to open her own practice so she wouldn't have to work? She put her identity in becoming a surgeon that the thought of this not happening brought disappointment. The feeling of letting herself down was too much to bare. Listen as she shares her story and how she turned her life around.  Ruth-Joy gives great advice as to how to navigate during a pivotal point in life. How to Make a Difficult Decision thumbnail

How to Make a Difficult Decision

05/08/2019 10 min 24 sec

Do you have a big decision you need to make? Are you trying to figure out with path to take? This was me not too long ago. I have felt for the past 2 years that I have been splitting my time and not able to be successful in either area of my life because I lacked clarity and focus. I felt as though I have been standing in a fork in the road and trying to make my own path in between two things and in the end it was causing stress on myself. Is this you? I recently took some time to evaluate where I was and where I wanted to go. I thought about what I was doing and the stress I was causing myself. I thought about what brought me joy and gave me life. I took time to write down the signs and start piecing together this puzzle of life. Here's what I learned: To seek God first and he will show you what path to take Open your eyes and mind to the signs around you. Be aware of the pieces to the puzzle of life. TRUST- Trusting is hard, but God always comes through. I was walking along the beach talking with God and I released one area of my life I felt it was time for me to let go of. Once I did, I felt a peace wash over me, I felt a weight had been lifted. To learn more about how I was able to do this listen to this episode. It may help you if you feel you are at a crossroads and need to make a decision on which path to take.  This episode is brought to you by The Comeback: Mindset Shift After Injury. If you are an injured athlete and have trouble sleeping because your mind is racing a mile a minute. Moving Forward in Any Transition

04/10/2019 13 min 45 sec

I am a life coach and help individuals work through transitions. Transition as in a missionary off the field, transition into a new job, new city, graduating college, ending your sports career and finding other passions. Or if you are stuck in a rut and need help creating more meaning to your life.   What is a life coach? Someone who helps bridge the gap from where you are to where you want to be. If you don’t know where you want to be, a coach helps you figure that out as well. We create goals, systems, and make new habits to be able to achieve what you want to in the next season of life. We go through many transitions in our life. Are you equipped to go through these transitions in a healthy way?  Are you taking time to reflect? Are you giving yourself the time you need to sit in an emotion and process? Are you enjoying the season you are in? Don’t rush to the next one. I have come up with 5 questions to ask yourself to be able to move forward in any transition. What have I learned in the season I am leaving behind? What mistakes have I made and how can I learn from them? What emotions am I feeling as I leave the past? What am I looking forward to in the next season? What emotions am I feeling moving into this new season? He and his brother started in their garage and now own 7 clinics. AMAZING! Go to Rehabunited.com to check it out! Here are a few highlights of this episode. We touch on the importance of body mechanics. Be mindful and conscious of something like having good posture and use a foam roller! Bryan says, "It seems everyone gets a foam roll. It's like you get a driver's license and a foam roll." He touches on some movements to do if you have back pain. He also talks about our body moving in 3 planes of motion. "Be proactive and do something about it!" Here is a stretching and foam rolling guide if you don't know where to start! nikkiromani.com/howtostretch Don't treat the symptom, treat the underlining problem. "We live in a society that wants a quick fit." Don't just put tape on it. EDUCATE people on the chain reaction the body goes through. Go to a professional to get evaluated. Look at everything influencing the problem.  GO and see a physical therapist and athletic trainer if you have an injury or have pain and want a rehab program. We need to see you because we need to evaluate you to see how your body moves which could be affecting why you are injured.  BODY MIND SPIRIT "Driver is anything that moves something. The two biggest drivers, I believe, are pain and love." -Bryan People work harder when they do something that they love.  It's more than just treating someone's elbow, it's also about mindset and emotion.  Stop thinking of yourself, and take time to serve others.  One value of Rehab United "giving our community an opportunity to heal not just physically, but also mentally."  Interested in getting experience in physical therapy? How to Stick to Your Commitments thumbnail

How to Stick to Your Commitments

03/13/2019 13 min 50 sec

Do you make plans with someone and then cancel on them because something comes up? Do you say things like, “It’s ok, we will get together when we get together”? Does this happen over and over and then you never end up meeting up with that person? Or you do, it’s just months or years later? As millennials, we have a reputation for not following through. To committing to too many things, having a hard time saying no and then are unable to do what we set out to. We say things like “I’m too busy.” “Something came up.” “I’ll do this another time.” Is this something you find yourself doing? We are all at fault at some point or another, however, this shouldn’t be something done all the time. Yes life happens and things do come up, but if this continues to be your excuse over and over again. You need to take a step back and re-evaluate your life. Look at what you are making a priority. When you continue to do this, this is showing disrespect not only to yourself, but to others. Let’s take this reputation back and step up to the plate and do what we actually say we are going to do. There is definitely balance, so you need to understand it’s ok to say no. Evaluate your life, look at your schedule, and if you do not have the time then don’t do it, don’t say yes! Staying true to your commitments builds trust and the more you follow through the more responsibility you will be given to others. Questions to think about: If you are the type of person who cancels over and over, think of why you do this? Why do you cancel on people? Why are you saying you will do something and then you don’t follow through? Are you flaky? Are a person who goes where the winds takes you? Ways to stay true to your commitments: View your schedule Does this fit in my schedule?   Only schedule what you know you will be able to accomplish This will take time to figure out so give yourself grace. You may be uncertain how much time things will take you and that’s ok. Will saying Yes to this opportunity benefit myself Will saying yes to this help out a friend Realize it’s ok to say No Don’t worry about offending the other person Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE on iTunes And subscribe to my email list to get updates.

Stop Taking Like So Seriously: 014 thumbnail

Stop Taking Like So Seriously: 014

02/27/2019 11 min 10 sec

Stop taking life so seriously. This is something I have been told multiple times in my life. I am someone who likes structure, a plan. I put pressure on myself to do things at a high level. To make sure everything is perfect and I have it all figured out before I do something. And if I don’t think I can do it, I don’t do it. This year I have been challenged to play more. To tap into my child-like side. I have been pondering this idea. I thought about snowboarding and was asking myself why I love it so much. What I discovered is that I feel so free, so playful, as though I am a child on an epic playground! It brings me so much joy and it’s because I am being playful and child-like. I think some of us grew up too fast. I think back to my childhood and it’s true, I grew up too fast. I wanted to be viewed as responsible and successful that I took it upon myself to act this way even as a kid. I have always been the peacemaker in my home and I would stand up for people I felt where in need. I’ve always looked after others before myself. This was part of my identity. I was trying to be other people’s savior. I see their true potential.  This is a gift, being able to see people’s true potential, I became a life coach so I could hone in on this gift and help people discover their potential for themselves. From past experiences I’ve learned there are times I need to get out of the way for them to discover it themselves. If you are interested in what life coaching is or if it’s something you may need, go to the link in the show notes to schedule a FREE consultation call to see if it’s a good fit for you! http://nikkiromani.as.me/ or go to my website nikkiromani.com and click the services tab. I’ve come up with a list of ways I can be more playful this year. Play more beach volleyball Snowboard as much as I can Join meet-up groups doing things I’m interested in such as swimming Signed up for a triathlon Painting and creating more like making birthday cards like I used to and designing my book cover! Taking a calligraphy class and actually practicing I did an episode about discovering your outlet...meaning, what’s something you can do that makes you feel refreshed, renewed, is fun and enjoyable and has nothing to do with work.  http://nikkiromani.com/2019/02/what-is-your-outlet-012/ What are some ways that come to mind for you? How are you going to be more playful this year? Make sure to subscribe and leave a review! I would love to hear your ideas about being more playful and child-like.

Writing a Book: 013 thumbnail

Writing a Book: 013

02/20/2019 14 min 11 sec

For those of you who may not know, I'm writing a book. I never set out to be an author, but God had other plans.  It was this time 2 years ago I was asking God how I could reach more people to share with them about the Holy Spirit. You know what he told me? "Nikki, write a book." I was in disbelief and pushed this suggestion away for 2 months! It got to the point I had to decide if I was going to take this opportunity or pass it up.  I am not one to let opportunities pass by even though they may be challenging. I have since been on a journey of writing this book. I've been working on it for almost 2 years and it's safe to say I am close to finishing! I WILL FINISH THIS YEAR!  In this episode, I share my process of writing a book, choosing an editor, and now the process of designing my cover and researching publishing options.  If you want to stay up to date on book happenings and eventually join my launch team go to nikkiromani.com/subscribe Follow me on Instagram at instagram.com/nikkiromani for updates as well and don't forget to subscribe to this podcast.  To read the full show notes go to nikkiromani.com/writingabook

What is Your Outlet?: 012 thumbnail

What is Your Outlet?: 012

02/13/2019 9 min 2 sec

Outlets can be anything that bring you joy, and have nothing to do with the project or your job. They need to tap into a different part of your brain. We were not made to be constantly working.  We need to have fun, to let loose and enjoy ourselves. Having an outlet allows us to not be thinking about all the tasks we have to get done. It frees our minds. Helps us feel refreshed. It takes us away from the project at hand and gives us a fresh perspective when we come back to it. One of Nikki's outlets is snowboarding. It brings her so much joy! She says, "I’m not thinking about everything I have to do, I am in the moment and thinking about what’s in front of me. This is why I love snowboarding so much without listening to music. When I am riding down the mountain, I am in the moment. I feel so free and I’m not thinking about anything else, but where I’m at and the scenery and the turns I’m making." Even though she was in a horrible snowboarding accident, that hasn't stopped her from the joy snowboarding brings her. Click here to listen to that episode http://nikkiromani.com/2018/12/mystory/ What is your outlet? If you don't know, allow yourself the time to think about it and then do it! What is something you enjoy, makes you come alive, is different than your work? Share with Nikki your outlets, she would love to hear but writing a review and subscribing!

Morning Routine: 011 thumbnail

Morning Routine: 011

02/06/2019 13 min 57 sec

A few weeks ago, Nikki posted about her morning routine. You can find that post here  instagram.com/nikkiromani facebook.com/nikkiromanibiz The common misconception about a routine is that it will make you feel tied down and not free, when really it’s just the opposite! You will feel more free, more alive, and have more success with a routine. We as humans need routine. We need structure. When we don’t have routine, we feel lost, sometimes unmotivated with no sense of direction. It’s especially important to have structure and routine during transition. Transitions are a time of stepping into the unknown, stepping into something new. You experience change. And with change and a new experience you can feel at a loss, feel unsure. But when you have some type of routine during this time, you can feel more grounded and have a sense of direction. Nikki shares about her morning routine and how she plans for her mornings the night before. She does things such as planning tasks for the following day, laying her gym clothes out, and filling her water bottle. She mentions 2 books to help with this, which you can find here https://kit.com/nikkiromani/personal-development-books/the-miracle-morning https://kit.com/nikkiromani/personal-development-books/atomic-habits-an-ea If you need a guide on 3 simple ways to start getting into a routine go to nikkiromani.com/3simplesteps

01/23/2019 13 min 44 sec

Let’s talk about the importance of “me” time. We live in a busy world, a busy society. But taking time for yourself is important. This is something Nikki learned the hard way and seems to continue learning. In this episode, Nikki talks about 3 tips to create this space and the importance of it as well as how and when may be the best time to do so. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need. Don’t go too long with this sacred space. Schedule “me” time in your day and stick to it. She goes more in-depth on each point in this episode. "Me” time can be viewed as selfish, but it’s far from it! In order to love, serve, and care for those around you, you need to take care of yourself first and foremost. This is valuable time. Commit to yourself. Pick a time of day that works for you. Nikki creates space in the morning. Maybe night time is better for you. You know yourself best. Do what works best for you. But once you schedule it, don’t cancel on yourself. Think of this as scheduling time with a friend. Would you cancel on her time and time again? I sure hope not. You wouldn’t be a good friend if you do. Nikki mentions another episode she did on The Great Return podcast about routines. You can find that episode here.
