85. Nourish your soul with self compassion

from Next Brave Thing Podcast

Research shows that when we feel good about ourselves, we make better decisions. But let’s be real—how often do we reach for comfort in food, alcohol, or shopping to escape pain? Spoiler: it leaves us feeling numb, stuck, and yep, the hangover is real.Enter self-compassion—a life-changing practice that can transform how we relate to ourselves. Like a kind midwife guiding us through pain, self-compassion doesn’t 'fix' us. Instead, it reminds us to breathe, stay present, and reconnect. In our hardest moments, it gives us what we need most: comfort, connection, and the reminder that we’re never truly alone. In this podcast, I’ll dive into:What self-compassion is—and what it isn’tUnderstanding self-hatredBuilding shame resilience through self-compassionThe latest research on self-compassionCommon objections and misconceptionsA look at the theology behind itFollow me on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ella.hooper__/https://www.instagram.com/nextbravethingpodcast/Check out my website: www.ella-hooper.com and book in a 20 minute coaching discover call today!
