Mercedes Yánez del Consejo de Protección de derechos, estuvo en una interesante entrevista en su Noticiero La Verdad, donde nos contó sobre la incidencia de la trata de personas en Santo Domingo de los Tsa'chilas y además reveló algunas de las formas en las que los traficantes de personas captan a sus víctimas para inducirlas a enrolarse en la prostitución, explotación laboral, o tráfico de órganos. Una de las modalidades utilizadas por estas mafias, es acercarse a los menores de edad, utilizando las redes sociales apostilló la técnico del Consejo.
