O Prof. Marco Antônio Brasil é professor associado e chefe do Departamento de Psiquiatria e de Medicina Legal da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro e ex-Presidente da Associação Brasileira de Psiquiatria. É psicofarmacologista clínico, psicoterapeuta, estudioso de psicologia médica e da interface entre psiquiatria e filosofia. Marco Antônio Brasil é um grande defensor do modelo de enfermaria de psiquiatria em hospital geral como serviço substitutivo de hospitais psiquiátricos. Foi o principal responsável pela implementação da enfermaria de psiquiatria no Hospital Universitário Clementino Fraga Filho (UFRJ), que está em funcionamento há 8 anos.
