In today’s episode Heather sits down with Jonathan Evans to talk about his latest book, Fighting Your Battles: Every Christian’s Playbook for Victory. In this conversation Jonathan describes a God who has often “unsettled” him. What do we do when life brings us conflict and disappointment instead of comfort and security? It starts, Jonathan says, by realizing that Christian maturity is not independence but dependence.Jonathan, the son of Tony Evans and his late wife Lois, shares openly about his mother’s long battle with terminal illness and his family’s struggle with grief. He reflects on how he’s witnessed the truth of his mother’s words to him before she passed. She told him, “Your greatest ministry will come out of your greatest misery.”In this episode, we also visit with college student and Viral Jesus intern Haley Hoskins for this week’s #Blessed. Heather and Haley talk about a new study from the CDC that says 45 percent of high school students were persistently hopeless in 2021, they were unable to engage in regular activities. Heather asks Haley what role she thinks social media plays in her generation’s increased struggles with depression and anxiety. Correct Me If I’m Wrong Adante Jones There is no better teacher than life. Life has taught me lessons that I want to share with anyone who’s willing to listen. I’ve experienced divorce as a child, homelessness, jail, racism, drug addiction, and more. This podcast is where I share stories about what I experienced growing up. You can expect to hear me peel back the layers of my trauma and grant you my skeleton key. Abide In Me Sam Welsby The A.I.M of this podcast is to help people form an intimate relationship with God and to answer the big life questions:- What was our origin?- Where can we find meaning and purpose?- How do we discern between good and evil, fact and fiction? - What is our ultimate destination? Many today are seeking these answers but not finding them. This is often because they are looking in the wrong places. All the guidance, wisdom, provision, love, forgiveness, hope and peace we seek can be found when we abide in our Creator. Before we can abide in Him, we need to know Him and also what He expects from us. "Abide in Me" was the message Jesus gave to His disciples before He left them. He knew that they would need to be close to Him, by abiding in His Word, if they were to be transformed and in turn transform the world. (John 15)I hope these podcasts open you up to learning about who Jesus was, what he taught and why we should abide in him.
