from Why Do Pets Matter? Hosted by Debra Hamilton, Esq. · host Debra Hamilton, Esq.

Kent Kruse, DVM joins us for a "don't miss" episode of "Why Do Pets Matter". Kent is a retired small animal veterinarian, management software creator for the veterinary industry, and an authority on pet insurance. We're talking about the human-animal bond and why pet insurance is so important for your pet and you.  Kent explains the different kinds of pet insurance, how to shop for the best pet insurance policy for you and your pet, and what to expect when you use your pet's insurance at the vet.  He also talks about how vets can help their human clients understand the value of pet insurance and some ways to effectively recommend pet insurance to their clients.  About Kent Kruse, DVM As a former practicing veterinarian, Kent recognizes that veterinarians are often stymied both ethically and economically by their client's inability to pay for required medical care because of the lack of the necessary discretionary cash. Because of the lack of funds, pets are too often euthanized, the human-animal bond ruptured, and revenue opportunities are lost.  For the past 19 years, it has been Kent's passion to help veterinarians understand the value of pet health insurance, and to advise them how to evaluate available products to recommend to their clients.

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
