Knowing when it is the right time to quit your job with Author Karen Burns- Working Girl

from CareerJoy Conversations -Canada's Career Coaching · host Alan Kearns

When is the right time to quit? When is too soon, or too late? Wondering if it is time to move on? This is one of the most important decisions that you will need to make in managing a successful career.  This week's podcast is from our recent Canadian Career Development Webinar  with Karen Burns author of The Amazing Adventures of Working Girl: Real Life Career Advice You Can Actually Use!   Karen has had 59 jobs and quit 58 times (she was only fired once) she is an expert in knowing when to leave for a new role.    I find that many people stay in a job too long for a variety of reasons;   1. Too loyal (yes, you can be too loyal) 2. Don't enjoy job hunting. 3. Unsure about where to go next in their career. 4. Not prepared for new opportunity.   Don't let these elements get in the way of having a great career. Karen shared "knowing when to quit and how to quit, are fundamental skills in managing your career."   This week's 60 Second Workout-Get prepared for new opportunity by refreshing your resume.    Continue the conversation on my blog. What are your thoughts about quitting?   This week's CareerPoll: How many of your roles came through your network?   Last week's CareerPoll: Which is more important in career advancement, soft skills or hard skills?   Looking for help with your personal brand?
