Nesta segunda-feira, 19 de abril, acontece o “Dia da Resistência Indígena” — uma data que tem como intuito combater o racismo e o genocídio contra indígenas. Para falar sobre o assunto, o programa Oito em Ponto convidou Daiara Hori Tukano, coordenadora da Rádio Yandê, primeira web-rádio indígena do Brasil. A militante indígena explicou o porquê de não ser correto o uso do termo “índio”. “A palavra ‘índio’ foi trazida junto com todo o processo de colonização, representa muito do racismo e violência cometido contra nós”, afirma. Além disso, a palavra “índio” também não representa a pluralidade de todas as etnias indígenas. Este dia é de extrema importância para dar visibilidade à luta e resistência indígena, principalmente em um país como o Brasil, que é o que mais mata indígenas e que possui um governo com discurso anti-indígena, segundo Tukano. “É uma necessidade cidadã se informar a respeito [sobre a luta indígena], entender que os povos indígenas são contemporâneos, estão em todos os lugares e nós merecemos respeito”, diz. O programa "Oito em Ponto", com apresentação de Sergei Cobra, vai ao ar pela Rádio Cultura FM 103.3 FM, de segunda à sexta-feira, às 8h da manhã, na Cultura FM, Cultura Brasil e no aplicativo Cultura Digital.
