Congratulations to Aalyiah, this month's recipient of a Second Chance!God had Rhonda and Aalyiah unexpectedly cross paths through a simple act of obedience.Here is what Rhonda shared in her nomination for Aalyiah:I was divorced last year (May 2024) and put my household items in storage with hopes of starting over. But the Lord said to me, "Get rid of it and follow Me." I had a garage sale with the majority of my items and He blessed me back four months worth of storage fees. Until I heard it again, "get rid of everything and follow Me." I usually argue three times (that's the relationship He and I have - ha!) but I knew better this time, so on December 20th, 2024, I posted an antique dresser and two chairs for free and a young, single mom sent me a private message: "I could really use your three items but I don't have a car or a way to pick them up. Could you deliver them to me?" She and I agreed on Christmas day at 2pm. But before I left my house, after spending Christmas morning with my kids, I asked her if there is anything else she needs that I might have. She replied, "I have nothing" and sent me two pictures: her empty living room, and one of her bedroom with a single twin mattress on the floor (she and her 1 1/2 yo son were living out of a suitcase) - she wasn't kidding. It was Christmas day and she literally had nothing. My daughter and I loaded up two cars full of things we thought she could use (that hadn't sold in my garage sale) and delivered to her as promised by 2pm. When we went into her apartment, her little son was waving to me from his high chair and when I asked her his name, she responded, "Immanuel." She and I both said out loud, "God with us". Remember: this was Christmas day. I asked her a few questions about what she wants to do with her life, where she'd like to be, would she like to go to school and her response knocked me backwards. "I don't know why I'm going to tell you this, but I've just escaped being sex trafficked and I'm starting my life over." She's 27. When I tell you she is a Christmas miracle, I'm not kidding. She and her son Manny started coming to Grace Community Church in Auburn with me; she's taken the new member classes; she was just baptized this last Sunday, and she will become a member as soon as she's able. She's celebrating her being clean, her celibacy, and is doing a lot of hard work while she prays to find the future her Heavenly Father has for her. God said, "Get rid of everything and follow Me," and He led me straight to her. My children are grown, and after my divorce I moved into a bedroom in my daughter's home ... with our combined nine animals ... and I have been blessed with a life of calm, and peace, and new hope for whatever God has for me. I want for nothing - my true blessing is seeing this young girl find her wings and fly.Rhonda and her son will be receiving grocery cards and Uber gift cards to help support them during their transition time.
