    On this episode I'm offering a sermon I delivered on the Third Sunday of Lent at St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral entitled Living Water from the Gospel of John chapter 4, verses 7-9.  It deals with the spiritual nature of living water and two fundamental things about our salvation:  God offers it without respect of persons or merit, and it's given to those who ask for it, much like the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well.

    Episode 11 Simply Believe

    On this episode we'll listen to a sermon on John 3.7-8 and the encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus. This message is based on the hope and promise of salvation from John 3.16:  God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. And unlike Nicodemus, who was desperately trying to understand how to enter the kingdom of God, and struggling to figure it out, we don't have to figure it out. All we have to do is simply believe!  The apostle Paul wrote that if we confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised him from dead, we will be saved.

    Episode 2 Who was John Calvin?

    In this episode we'll look briefly at the life and theology of John Calvin.  Alistair McGrath wrote, "it's impossible to undertand modern protestantism without coming to terms with John Calvin's legacy to the movemet which he did so much to nourish and sustain."   Calvin's view of spirituality can be seen in his understanding and exposition of the Christian life, found in his Institutes of the Christian Religion, which we will look at in more detain in episode 4.  As one writer noted, "He was completely committed to living out God's claim on his life and calling others to hear and heed, to rejoice in and witness to God's claim on them as the purpose and joy of their lives." We'll also look briefly at the Institutes as well as Calvin's influence in the English Reformation.
