Faith at Work: Being a Christian Employee | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"
In the kick-off to Season 3 of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team gathers to discuss what it means to be a Christian at our jobs. What does “Faith at Work” entail? What are the challenges? What happens when we face adversity? And given that most of us are employed in the secular marketplace, how should we respond to persecution?Drawing from years of experience, which includes both challenges and encouragements, our team dialogues about how to be a Christian in a culture that has become increasingly hostile to our Faith. In past generations, Christians were viewed as overly scrupulous moralists, or pie-in-the-sky folks with overly active imaginations regarding divinity. Not anymore. Now, Christians are seen as hateful – even villains. Thus, to witness effectively as a Christian in the marketplace, it requires not only great boldness, but much wisdom to make an impact for Jesus. If you find our channel to be an encouragement to you (and if you haven’t already), please like and subscribe! Generosity & Overflow: Training Our Hearts to Give | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"
In Episode 15, our final Episode in Season 2, of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", several team members gather to discuss and dialogue about the subject of “Generosity and Overflow”. While our culture teaches us ways to earn money, as well as techniques to save money, rarely are we trained in how to give money away and invest it beyond our personal gain.Interestingly, of all the subjects the Bible speaks to, the subject of money is covered more than any other. So, why is this? Because God knows us and what we’re like. He knows our hearts are easily wrapped up in our concerns over money. Practically, He also knows we need to learn it’s proper stewardship and avoid being indebted to lenders. But ultimately, it is because God wants to train our hearts to live generously and from a place of overflow into others’ lives. Our team talks about all these issues – sharing challenges, stories, insights, and encouragements with one other – and we hope you, our listeners, will find today’s episode to be a blessing to you, also! So, if you find our channel is an encouragement to you, and if you haven’t already, please like and subscribe! Christian Entrepreneurship: Integrating Business & Ministry | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In Episode 14 (Season 2) of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", members of our team discuss the subject of “Christian Entrepreneurship” focusing on the integration of commercial business and Christian ministry. This is the central vision of our company at Cross Automotive Royale (C.A.R.), which we like to style as a “businestry”.Historically, the norm for most organizations is an “either/or” approach: either a secular business focused on commercial transactions and motivated by profit margins, or a sacred ministry, often locked behind church doors, that rarely moves out into the marketplace. But, as we reflect on what Jesus says in John 17:14-16, we notice a Christian, whether a business entrepreneur, company employee, or minister, is called to “integrate” their sacred/secular callings, serving both in an integrated fashion. In response, the team discuss how to overcome this disconnect, to better integrate these different spheres of life, then suggest several “businestries” who do it well and are worthy of imitation. Finally, the team shares how C.A.R. is integrating its own practices of business and ministry, then offer several encouragements to other Christian entrepreneurs about how to go about properly integrating their own approach. As always, please like and subscribe to our channel if you find it helpful! Women Working in Male-Dominated Vocations | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"
In this special episode of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team welcomes and features the women of C.A.R., engaging the subject, “Women Working in Male-Dominated Vocations”.Women working in historically male-oriented fields (such as ours, the automotive industry) typically have additional barriers to overcome and unique challenges to face. Each of our ladies share their story about how they came to work in these fields, sharing about overcoming challenges, some which are obvious, but others that are overlooked.Several of the men, all who have managed mixed teams of men and women in their careers, share about the importance of supporting women in male-dominated vocations. This happens by treating them equally, fairly, and with integrity. Of additional importance, is to approach vocational roles from the place of capability, rather than gender. Often, many of the challenges women combat in these industries are due to unethical systems that can be overcome with ethical leadership. Finally, the team shifts to read what the Bible teaches about the strength, industry, and capability of women at work. Relooking at what is often coined, “The Proverbs 31 Woman”, a full reading of the chapter (especially vv. 15-18) yields a much more complex, and diversely gifted woman, expanding the picture beyond reductionistic views, which can limit her calling to homemaking or personal piety, though each are important to God.Therefore, while we want to honor the important callings of women to marriage, motherhood, and homemaking, which are critical and needed for the strength and health of a family unit, we also want to note that God encourages women to use all their gifts for His glory, and to answer all the callings God places upon their lives. So, whether in the home, in the marketplace, or both, we want to encourage women to pursue all that God made them for, and to do it for His glory! Thanks for listening, and please like and subscribe to our channel if you find it helpful. Apprenticeship & Building Cars with Our Kids Again | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"
In Episode 12 (Season 2) of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", the team jumps into a core value of the company: Building vehicles with our children again. In a culture where not only apprenticeship, but even parenting has been set aside, neglected, and forgotten, the team talks about the importance of retrieving both the concept and practice of vocational apprenticeship and relational mentoring, with the primary focus being on our children. For several members of our team, working side-by-side with dad, grandpa, or another family member, was extremely formative and impactful, creating core memories and impressing identity and even future vocation on them. But this practice has mostly been lost. Due to advancement in vehicle complexity, technology that now seem to distract our children from an interest in hard work on vehicles (or from work at all), and overwhelming young people with voluminous activities and experiences, children are missing out on the opportunity of creating memories with their family and the importance of learning to build. Finally, the team shifts to discuss how the concept of apprenticeship has been embedded into our very nature. To be human means to need apprenticeship. We see this in the ministry of Jesus, as He calls His first two sets of disciples (Matt. 4:18-22). He calls them from one apprenticeship (fishing with dad), to one like it, but greater (fishers of men with God). In the Kingdom of God, knowledge alone is not sufficient to grow – apprenticeship is necessary to flourish, and every disciple must grow into a mentor to build other people, into disciples who do the same.If you would, please like and subscribe to our channel, and we encourage you to engage in the discussion yourself by leaving a comment!#CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #CarCommunity #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #AutomobileWebsite: https://crossautomotiveroyale.comMerch: https://cross-automotive.printful.me Contribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com

Building What Matters: Foundations for Business & Kingdom | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In Episode 11 (Season 2) of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", the team jumps into the exciting topic of building, asking the question, “What Does It Mean to Build Well?” From an early age, most of us think about what we will build in life – a family, a career, perhaps, even a legacy. Why is building such a vital part of what we’re called to do as humans? Additionally, how does building take shape in our culture (positively and negatively), and, by comparison, what should it look like in God’s Kingdom? Our team digs in, first, by talking about the proper “building blocks”, the key “materials” if you will, about what’s involved with setting a good foundation for life and business, as well as how to properly build upon it. They also reflect on why so many startup businesses fail, and how legacy brands so often lose their way. Then, the team pivots to reflect on what Jesus has to say about setting a foundation and building upon it, both for life and business. Why is it so important to heed Jesus’s words? Because storms are coming, ones that can even threaten your life, business, and future. Therefore, we must be established upon a solid foundation and build properly upon it with the right materials, so we might withstand the storms, emerging from them stronger in our character and more resolved in our mission. Ultimately, “God’s business” is about using His principles and the great tests in our lives to build and refine our character, all to advance His Kingdom. If you would, please like and subscribe to our channel, and we encourage you to engage in the discussion yourself by leaving a comment!#CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #CarCommunity #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #AutomobileWebsite: https://crossautomotiveroyale.comMerch: https://cross-automotive.printful.me Contribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com

Body Work: Building Unity in Business & Church | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
Why is building unity so important for business and church, but at the same time, so challenging to realize? Often, we’re more familiar with disunity and dysfunction, and what some organizations and churches call unity, is actually a uniformity to one person’s ideas, or a subgroup’s values. Maybe this has been your experience. So, is building unity an achievable and worthwhile effort? Or should we just settle, suffering within uniformity and surviving within dysfunction? In Episode 10 (Season 2) of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", the team addresses this question, comparing it to “body work” on vehicles. Every part of a vehicle – and every job a team member does – matter to the build. While not all equal in function, all are valuable. Our team then discusses the importance of mutual respect – both for people and parts – and how each play a role in building unity of company and mission. Additionally, they talk about how to deal with disunity – and overcome friction – to stay unified. When unity falters, when friction isn’t oiled, or when the spark of innovation is lost, most start-ups fail and even legacy brands will fold. We’ve all seen it.Lastly, you’d think building unity would be easier in the church, but for those of us who are members of it – we know that’s not the case. The Church has a business but is much more than a business – it’s a body – a living organism, and vibrant branches, connected the Head and the Vine, Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 teaches how God has connected each member into His body on purpose. Thus, each local church is made up of the people God intended for that time, so that we might see, respect, utilize, and love one another – growing closer in unity and demonstrating it to others. But just as the spark of the engine and the body of the vehicle must work as one to move, so must the living vine of the church have a pole to direct its grow where God wants. Everyone expects a church to have heart, but it also must have a mission. Everyone expects a business to do a job, but it must also possess a heart. Having both leads to body work that is unified and vivified! As always, please like and subscribe to our channel, and engage in the discussion yourself by leaving a comment or reply!#CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #CarCommunity #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #AutomobileWebsite: https://crossautomotiveroyale.comMerch: https://cross-automotive.printful.me Contribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com

What's Your Coolest Car Experience? | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In Episode 9 (Season 2) of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", the team takes a break from our normal shop talk and spiritual conversations, for a fun discussion focused around answering the question, "What's Your Coolest Car Experience?"Team members begin by answering what separates a normal, functional car experience from a really cool one. You might be surprised by our answers! What makes a cool car experience for one person is certainly different for another - and that's half the fun!Next, we jump into the main question of the episode, where each team member reminisces about several car experiences that were cool, exceptional, and uniquely meaningful to them. Themes of bonding and connecting, excitement and adventure, as well as reliability and generosity color their answers. Maybe you can relate, or perhaps have your own? Feel free to share yours in the comments section below!Lastly, we dive a bit deeper into why most of us want more than just getting from one point to another. Vehicle marketing is genius in this way, in that they sell to our deeper desires, hoping to connect vehicles to our longings and hopes. Lincoln focuses on wealth and luxury mixed with entrepreneurial individualism; Ford promotes rugged reliability married to overcoming as the American way; Toyota/Chrysler/Honda almost always promote their Minivans to families with vacation scenes (whether camping or at the beach), imbedded with the promise that their vehicles will help us connect and get away from the noise. These are but a few examples of how vehicles speak to a deeper longing we all have - for the nostalgia of the past; for healthy identity, community, and connection in the present, and for the adventure of the future. At C.A.R., we want to help connect you to that nostalgia, provide belonging in the present, and "Build Your Adventure" for the future! As always, please like and subscribe to our channel, and engage in the discussion yourself by leaving a comment or reply! Parallels: Vehicle Maintenance & Spiritual Maintenance | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
As Winter concludes and Spring arrives, how should we care for the vehicles entrusted to us? What’s the routine maintenance to engage, which can provide preventative care and prolong the life of our vehicle? After the cold season, we all want to enjoy the delights of the Spring and the fun of the Summer. So, as the temperature rises, our mileage does also. So, we'll need to invest in our vehicles, just as they’ve invested in us.In Episode 8 (Season 2) of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team members discuss the practical importance of regular maintenance, giving tips on how to establish good vehicle care habits. They also touch on performing tune ups and checkups as certain ‘milestones’ are reached. These are all ways to care and love our vehicles. Then, and as our team loves to do, we talk about the parallels between good vehicle maintenance and the practice of God’s ‘spiritual disciplines’, which He provides to help us stay close, as well as grow closer, to Him. And just as the neglect of vehicle maintenance leads to a vehicle breakdown, neglecting the spiritual disciplines can lead to our lives falling apart. In the spiritual disciplines, God is showing us He wants more than an informal relationship – He wants us to learn to enjoy Him! And this happens when we use these habits – which should become joys (not chores) – and help us grow in closeness to God. This episode is full of practical wisdom that should benefit both the care of your vehicle and the care of your heart. As always, please like and subscribe to our channel, and engage in our discussion by leaving a comment or reply!#CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #CarCommunity #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #AutomobileWebsite: https://crossautomotiveroyale.com Merch: https://cross-automotive.printful.me Contribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com

Sabbath: Finding Rest in a Hustle Culture | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
Why do so many in today's culture think of work "as a grind" and seek "a side hustle" (or two)? What's behind the desire to monetize hobbies, and to squeeze work into every waking hour of the day?In Episode 7 (Season 2) of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", several of our team Leaders dive into the challenges presented by what has been termed "Hustle Culture". While work is intrinsically good, and developing a work ethic is important, hustle culture goes beyond this, pushing the limits and forgetting the boundaries of work - boundaries which God says are good for our lives. After discussing the importance of work boundaries, along with wisdom about when to set them, the team discusses God's design and established pattern of work and rest, which was embedded in creation during God's original "Work Week". They answer the question, "What is the Sabbath?", provide definitions for work and rest, and give practical, real-life applications on how to trust God with our work, rest with purpose, and honor God in both. This episode is rich with practical helps and discussion that should be a benefit to your life. Love & Marriage: Valentine's Day Edition | C.A.R.'s, Coffee, & Christ
Love and Marriage, Love and Marriage ... so the opening line goes in the famous song by Frank Sinatra. Our world is obsessed with love ... and romance! But it often leaves marriage out of the equation, even relegating it to a social construct of antiquity. But the Church, which upholds the institution of marriage, often fails to promote and cultivate a fully formed love, which embraces intimacy within its sacred confines. So, how do we keep love and marriage together, as God intended for our flourishing? In Episode 6 of Season 2, C.A.R.'s Founders get together to discuss how to keep love and marriage together, as well as how to invest in developing a healthy marriage. The team debunks some myths of love and marriage and promotes tried and true ways of growing a healthy relationship between the two.Lastly, the team discusses how God uses the marriage metaphor to describe His relationship with His People. So, relationship with God is not just positive feelings, but mutual affection, demonstrated tangibly and regularly. Yes - God loves us! But we need to love Him back. The good news is that God has promised that if we are His 'spouse' - we will! Not perfectly this side of Heaven, but we will love Him faithfully. As always, we hope you'll like and subscribe to the channel, and please engage in our discussion by leaving a comment!#CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #CarCommunity #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #AutomobileWebsite: https://crossautomotiveroyale.comMerch: https://cross-automotive.printful.meContribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com

Why Suffering? Real Comfort for a Hard Question | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In Episode 5 of Season 2, the Founders discuss a very difficult topic, asking the question, “Why Suffering?” Why is there so much pain, tragedy, and ultimately, death in our world? Is this just the way life is, or is this not the way it was meant to be?The team discusses how the Christian Faith, which is centered on Jesus, unfolds before us in God’s Great Story of His good creation, our ugly sin, but His amazing restoration. The story doesn’t begin with sin, suffering, and death (nor does it end there) but in the middle, we experience this great dilemma. Why? Because we are sufferers in a fallen world, victims of an Enemy’s lie, but also part of the problem as sinners, being responsible for that part of our plight. We do not want to answer this difficult question like Job’s friends – simplistically and harmfully.Ultimately, the team reflects on how Christianity tells a better story. But God’s solution and resolution are complex, because a complex problem requires a thorough solution. So, God answers the dilemma of our sin on the Cross; the division of human beings at Pentecost; the issues of injustice at the Final Judgment; and the question of why suffering and death at the Resurrection. The team finishes the conversation, by reflecting on Paul’s famous conclusion on the matter in 1 Corinthians 15, which shows that God not only honors suffering, giving it integrity, but endures it Himself unto death on the Cross, then defeats Death, our final enemy by His resurrection from the Dead.God forgive sinners. But He also comforts suffers, because He gets it. And as He comforts us, He points us ahead, to hope in a glorious future, a New Creation – where suffering, tragedy, and death have been swallowed up. Therefore, those who trust in Christ, will find that Jesus’ resurrection was not the End of the Story … but the Beginning of Everything! We hope you'll like and subscribe to the channel, and please engage in our discussion by leaving a comment! #CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #AffordablePerformance #CarCommunity#FirstBuildExperience #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #Automobile Website: https://crossautomotiveroyale.com Merch: https://cross-automotive.printful.me Contribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com/contribute

Choosing a Good Engine & Challenging Traditional Thinking | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In Episode 4 of Season 2 of C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ, 'the guys' gather around to talk shop, particularly around choosing a good engine for your vehicle, as well as how and when we should challenge traditional thinking about engines. We also answer the all-important question, "When do we need more power?" The answer? Always! Then, in our typical fashion, we move our discussion to speak about the parallels between vehicle engines and the human heart, which serve as the central headquarters of each, respectively. The men discuss how an engine needs to be replaced when repairing it is no longer possible or is the better financial option. Yet we see in the Bible that our hearts are in disrepair from the start. Thus, in a spiritual sense, we are 'dead on arrival'. So, as fallen humans, because of sin, we don't eventually become ‘broken-hearted’, but are ‘heart-broken’ from the start. We've all been born into spiritual brokenness, though it takes most of us longer to recognize than we care to admit. We conclude our episode by speaking about the amazing promise God makes in His New Covenant (Ezek. 36:26-27; Jer. 31:31-34), where He promises to extract the old, spiritually dead heart, and by an act of divine grace, replaces it with a new heart, a new engine, and one that's even better than the old one. Our new heart 'fires up', just like a new engine, and now beats for God, walks in His ways, and wants to obey His commands. Therefore, God is both the Great Physician and the Great Technician! I'm Saved! ... Wait, What Was the Question? | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In the 3rd Episode of Season 2, we dive into what Christians mean by the word, 'Salvation'. Often a confusing concept for both Christians and non-Christians alike, the team discusses how important it is to first understand the 'Story of Salvation' (the Bible), and the Savior in God's Story (Jesus Christ). By understanding these, we can better understand what salvation is about.Too often we enter this conversation asking loaded questions or making religious statements such as, "Am I saved? Are you saved? I have been saved", yet without knowing much of the Story or the Savior. This kind of thinking will lead to the formation of religious 'clubs', rather than producing healthy churches, and can promote more confusion than clarity. When we learn the Story and trust the Savior, we will see more clearly how God invites us into both, by faith, which brings salvation. And while our acceptance in Jesus is profoundly beautiful and gracious, it will lead to hard work and personal transformation. So, the team concludes by sharing how the Church is for recovering addicts of self, sin, and stuff, who now savor the Story and the Savior! As always, we hope you'll like and subscribe to the channel, and please engage in our discussion by leaving a comment!#CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #AffordablePerformance #CarCommunity #FirstBuildExperience #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #AutomobileWebsite: https://crossautomotiveroyale.comMerch: https://cross-automotive.printful.meContribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com/contribute

Christian Culture in the Motorcycle Community | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In the 2nd Episode of Season 2, we discuss motorcycles, motorcycle culture, and how we can be a part of that community in a meaningful, yet Gospel-centered way. Several members of our team talk about good beginner bikes to purchase, the 'do's and don'ts' of how best to get started, and answer questions about when bikers should level up to bikes with higher CCs. The discussion then shifts to motorcycle culture, how it is different than car culture, and how it is often misunderstood in society. Lastly, we speak about how best to minister to the motorcycle community by valuing the people in it and promoting light in places where it may be dark. As Christians, we want to be "in the world" but not "of the world". And by doing so, we can share in their stories and community but also expose them to the bigger story of God and His global community, the Church. The Great Exchange | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In Episode 1, we kick-off an exciting new season of our Podcast with a discussion we call, "The Great Exchange". I sit down with our Co-Owner/Founder, Joshua King to discuss the various 'exchange rates' we find in current culture, then compare the 'exchange rate' offered to us in God's Kingdom. Some questions we cover include: 1. Is the world really able to deliver on its promises? And why do so many buy into the 'pyramid schemes' and shallow investment strategies offered? 2. What does Jesus teach to counter these failed promises and empty strategies? And how does His exchange rate and Kingdom differ? 3. What's the 'payoff' of investing in God's Kingdom rather than our own? 4. How can God afford the incredible returns he gives when we invest with Him? 5. What is "The Greatest Exchange" God has made, which underwrites every trade He makes with His trusting children? This episode serves as a 'teaser' for our soon-to-be-released booklet of the same name, that covers not only these kingdom principles, but additionally God's grand story of 'How He Does Business with Man'. Conversational Prayer | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ
In Episode 6, we're tackling what may seem simple - the topic of prayer - but is, in fact, challenging. Often, when we want to pray, we don't know what to say. Then, there are times we pray wrongly (as Jesus points out). So, in this episode, we hope to untangle some of the mystery, speaking to the questions: "Why pray?" and "How do we pray?" Finally, we'll discuss how prayer is to be a two-way conversation with God, not a one-sided monologue. Enjoy!#CrossAutomotiveRoyale #BuildAgain #AffordablePerformance #CarCommunity #FirstBuildExperience #CarPodcast #FirstBuildJourney #FaithAndFuel #CustomVehicles #Mechanic #AutomobileWebsite: https://crossautomotiveroyale.comMerch: https://crossautomotiveroyale.me/Contribute to our Mission: https://www.crossautomotiveroyale.com/contribute
