Carry Confetti
by Darcie Frost
A podcast to help you discover how to cultivate a life of hopeful expectation and daily celebration. I’m Darcie Frost, an Oklahoma girl now living in New Zealand and leading a church with my husband (and our two toddlers in tow). Through weekly episodes released every Monday, I’ll be exploring Christian theology and studies in psychology to better understand the powerful effects of gratitude and hope. No matter what season of life you are in, we could all benefit from a bit more joy infused into those ordinary, everyday moments. I’ll be tackling questions like: How do I keep believing after so many setbacks? Why hasn’t God answered my prayer yet? How do you know God is good and on your side? How do I find the strength to celebrate others, while walking through grief, disappointment, and pain? What’s the difference between happiness and joy?Subscribe to the show on your favorite podcast app, so you don't miss a single episode!

Some of the Best Advice I've Ever Heard | Ep. 57
There is so much joy in being an amateur. It's a word that often has a negative connotation attached, but there is far more to this word than we realise. It doesn't just mean "unskilled" as many have come to believe.Once you reframe this word in your mind, there's advice within this episode that has been game changer for me when I approach any new project, any new hobby, or any new skill I want to learn. I hope this advice will be releasing and empowering for you too! Also, there’s a chance to win a giveaway inspired by recent topics. All the details are in the first few minutes of the episode, and you can enter on Instagram @carryconfetti 🎉Love,DarciePS - There won't be a new episode for a couple weeks, while I focus on a few big things in my own calendar. Grandma Hobbies are Basically Cheap Therapy (feat. Maree Beaven) | Ep. 56
What do "grandma hobbies" and therapy techniques like EMDR have in common? In this episode, we'll talk about the research and the intentional rest that old school hobbies are bringing young people that are overly saturated by a digital world. To sit down with a creative project, get your hands messy, and create something tangible is beneficial to your mental health in a number of ways. I've even seen the real impact in my own life when I set time aside for projects like embroidery, sewing, weaving, and gardening.Today, I'm also joined by my dear friend Maree Beaven, who is the "Queen of Crochet". She'll tell you about the role that crochet and other hands-on projects have played in her life and in her community work she regularly does with people of all ages in South Auckland, New Zealand.Hope you enjoy this conversation!Love,DarcieConnect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

Build Mental Resilience with an Analogue Life | Ep. 55
Why the sudden trend towards an "analogue" life where people are filling bags with easy art kits, decks of cards, polaroid cameras, and more? Well, our brains our facing digital fatigue and something tactile in our hands is helping people around the world reconnect with their physical world and feel in control of something. Crafts help us cope. Busy hands help quiet a busy mind.In this episode, I'll tell you about some research I've discovered and also chat through all the mental benefits of working with your hands in some capacity.Go ahead and click play... craft or garden or clean while you listen. Artisans & the Lost Skills as AI Takes Over | Ep. 54
Did you know that the first person in the Bible explicitly mentioned to be filled with the Holy Spirit was an artist? Have you ever considered how many artisans were used by God throughout history? And what does that mean going forward with the ever-increasing use of AI? Let's talk about it. Artisans vs AI. Today, we'll open up the conversation and look into some scripture references about artisans and the role they played. In the coming weeks, we will dive into the brain benefits of working with your hands and the powerful effect it has on your mental health.Even if you're not an "artist", these episodes will cause you to think and hopefully lead you to create in some way! --Easter Special from last year can be found here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2431016/episodes/16965681Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

The Experiment: Picking up an Abandoned Hobby 17 Years Later | Ep. 53
Let's talk about putting the findings of my "fun audit" to the test... with an experiment that required making space for my personal fun magnets to collide. It was time to touch a soccer ball again. And boy oh boy, did I learn some things along the way. I hope you are inspired by this honest reflection of a 35-year-old Mom of toddlers getting out onto the field again with some guys (even guys half her age) and seeing how it all played out physically and mentally.I'll also teach you about psychoneuroimmunology and how your internal language is translated into real signals to your body. Fascinating research!Would love to hear about your own experiments! The Solution: Reset Your Life with a Fun Audit | Ep. 52
Welcome to Part 2 of a mini-series on how to bring more fun into your life -- not the fake kind of fun, but rather the soul-filling kind that makes you feel fully alive.I'm a firm believer that we're not meant to just "get by" in life. We're not meant to feel constantly stuck on hamster wheels of exhaustion and distraction. We were never meant to stop playing... yet somewhere along the line as more and more responsibility got added, we easily forget to remain playful. We become too tired for connection. We become too distracted to enter a state of flow. Part 1 talked about the problem we're all facing, and Part 2 will provide you with a solution to explore and hopefully rediscover a part of you that you're missing. So, let's take a fun audit ;) This series was inspired by Catherine Price's book The Power of Fun: Why fun is the key to a happy and healthy life.Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

The Problem: You've Been Sold the Lie of Fake Fun | Ep. 51
Welcome to a 3-part series where I unpack some of my own internal musings, alongside evidence-backed research to identify a problem that we're all currently facing... We've forgotten how to have true fun, because we've bought into the lies we've been sold by a society that is using our brains against us.So, in a year where I'm reclaiming the joy of true fun, I invite you to journey with me through the problem this week. Next week, I promise to bring you the solution. And in the final part of this mini-series, I'll tell you about my own personal experiment -- what I loved, what I learned, and what I'll do differently next time. This series was inspired by Catherine Price's book The Power of Fun: Why fun is the key to a happy and healthy life.Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

More Than Nostalgia: The Transforming Power of Tradition | Ep. 45
Traditions are more powerful than we often realise. From bedtime rituals and holiday rhythms to faith practices passed down through generations, traditions quietly shape how we think, feel, and live. In this episode of Carry Confetti, we explore why traditions matter — not just sentimentally, but psychologically and spiritually. We’ll unpack how repeated traditions anchor our nervous systems, strengthen our sense of identity, and create meaning in a fast-moving world. In fact, these repeated things in our lives form habits, transmit values, and remind us who we are and who we want to become. Whether you grew up surrounded by meaningful traditions or you’re longing to create new ones, this episode invites you to be intentional about the rhythms you keep. Because the small, repeated practices of our lives often shape us more than the big moments ever could.Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

Generosity Unlocks the Happiness Trifecta | Ep. 44
In this episode, we’re diving into the beautifully practical science behind something Jesus taught long before the research existed: it truly is more blessed to give than to receive. Generosity doesn’t just help someone else; it literally reshapes your inner world. We’ll explore how giving activates the brain’s “happiness trifecta”: dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. These aren’t just feel-good hormones; they’re the chemical trio that boosts motivation, steadies your emotions, strengthens your relationships, and brings that warm, centred sense of meaning we all quietly long for. When we choose to give — our time, compassion, encouragement, or resources — our brains respond with a cascade of joy that science can now measure and scripture has been pointing us toward all along. This episode invites you to see generosity not as another task to do in this busy Christmas season, but rather as a way of carrying confetti into the world — a way of scattering light, lifting others, and discovering that joy grows best in open hands and generous hearts.PS — Details for a special giveaway are included in this episode!! The Anticipation of Advent | Ep. 43
In this episode, we explore the anticipation of Advent — the quiet ache, the hopeful waiting, and the deep expectation that has shaped Christian hearts for centuries. Yes, there is playful excitement in opening Advent calendar doors, stringing up lights, and celebrating with festive traditions! But all this wonder actually points us toward something far deeper. The very first Christmas was marked with an astral phenomenon — a bright star in the sky — and I can't wait to to tell you more about why this was so significant to the wise men you see in your nativity sets. As Christmas approaches, let’s consider how these annual rhythms of celebration and tradition remind us of the true meaning behind our anticipation: the arrival of the King of Light, Jesus Christ.Resources mentioned in this episode are linked below! Dinner Party Lessons from the Gospel of Luke | Ep. 41
THE JOY OF SHARED MEALS (2/3)Jesus loved a good dinner party! All throughout the Gospels you'll see him blessing food, enjoying food, sharing food, multiplying food, and even calling himself the Bread of Life. In fact, Jesus did some of his best ministry around a dinner table. He changed hearts and minds through conversations had at a meal time and time again. In this episode, I'll share 5 lessons we can learn from 5 different meals where Jesus was present. When Dinner Fills More Than Your Stomach | Ep. 40
THE JOY OF SHARED MEALS (1/3)The World Happiness Report had an entire chapter dedicated to the connection between food and social relationships, and we need to talk about it.As a society, we've become faster paced with a desire for ease and convenience, and this has translated over to our meals as well. Many families are eating meals on the go, takeaways, meal replacement shakes, and quick snacks pulled out of a bag to solve their hunger as if it were a problem. But how does all of this affect our happiness? How does it affect our social relationships? Have we lost the joy of a shared meal? Let's talk about it! Moving from Jaded to Joyful | Ep. 36
When you’ve been waiting a longer time than expected to see a dream become a reality, it’s easy to become discouraged, disappointed, and dare I say jaded. It can get harder and harder to see other people see their dreams come true while yours seems dead or dormant. It can affect your heart… which then affects your relationships, your friendships, and your faith. Today, let’s unpack the miracle of Abraham and Sarah conceiving a child in their old age. They both laughed, but their laughs were different types of laughs… so they got different responses from God. I hope this episode gives you some insight into how two people can walk a journey of waiting differently, how two people can respond differently when receiving the same promise from God, and how God can heal our hearts if we are willing to come before him vulnerably. Hope is the Anchor for Your Soul | Ep. 35
In honour of Mental Health Awareness Week in New Zealand, this episode is an important conversation around the power of hopeful thinking.Hope is a clear theme throughout the Bible.Hope is a clear theme in positive psychology.Hope is a clear theme in mental wellbeing. So, how could hope become our anchor this week? What can we learn from scripture and from science to incorporate into our lives to raise our level of optimism, which then raises our overall level of wellbeing?*Please note: In this conversation, we will talk about suicide / suicidal ideation and how hope acts as a buffer against it. No personal stories or details are shared here, I will simply mention the research and the power of hope in combatting this. Get Your Mind Out of a Bind | Ep. 34
Last week, we finished off our list of 5 behaviours that will make you happier by talking about the powerful biblical practice of taking captive every thought. This week, I wanted to dive deeper into this practice. How do you take captive every thought? How do you know when a thought is unhealthy and is leading to a mental mess? In this episode, I'm sharing with you the five behaviours that will make you happier, as identified by a professor of positive psychology.Spoiler alert: You are fully capable of doing all five of them this week ;) And even though the psychology professor didn't intend for this list to be grounded in scripture... there's biblical truth that can be found in each item on her list. Blessed Are Those Who Mourn: The Theology of Lament | Ep. 32
This past week was heavy... and many tears have been shed over the violence of murders that have taken place, including the assassination of Charlie Kirk. How is it that some could laugh while others mourned? How has our society become so numb and desensitised to violence? How can our hearts handle it all? This episode is not about politics; it's about processing pain — something that we all need to do better at no matter what you believe or who you vote for. Our brains are adapting to violence by tuning it out and shutting down empathy circuits. Our brains are becoming numb through the constant, unfiltered scroll... constantly seeing more but never fully processing. So, let's talk about empathy, grief and lament. Grief is something we all encounter, but lament is a practice many of us overlook. In this episode, we explore the biblical practice of lament — how Scripture not only gives us permission to bring our pain before God, but invites us to find Him in the midst of it.Through the Psalms of Lament, we’ll look at how lament shapes us into people of deeper empathy and compassion. Lament isn’t about rushing past sorrow; it’s about naming our grief before God, holding onto hope, and learning to weep with those who weep.If you’ve ever wondered how mourning could possibly be called “blessed,” this conversation will help you see how lament can transform our hearts, our brains, and our empathy in this hurting world.Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

How to Handle Negative Emotions, Develop Distress Tolerance, and Avoid Toxic Positivity | Ep. 31
Dr. Becky Kennedy from Good Inside said, "Regulating difficult emotions is a prerequisite for happiness."We have to learn how to navigate through our negative emotions and our negative experiences in order to discover a newfound joy. Suppressing it all is just distress avoidance, and that's not healthy for any of us in the long run.I know this episode will speak to so many parents that are helping to coach their kids through meltdowns and hard days... but I have a feeling that this episode is going to speak to any adult... because adults have hard days too. Plus, not everyone learned how to handle the big emotions as a kid, and it's now evident in their adult life.Drawing on research from Dr. Becky, insights from a course taught by Professor Laurie Santos, and inspiration through other timely conversations, join me as we discover how to sit on the benches in life that can feel really uncomfortable and sometimes lonely.--Course mentioned in this episode was The Science of Well-Being for Parents by Professor Laurie SantosSong mentioned in this episode was written by Tawnee Kendall from @music_forlittlesConnect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

Seeing Pain with Promised Land Perspective | Ep. 30
Have you ever wished you could play a "Just Say No!" card in the game of life when you were thrown a curveball or faced a setback? Have you ever wanted to play that "Skip" card on certain seasons of pain and delay?Well, we've all been there. We've all had moments where we don't understand why we're facing certain circumstances or when we will be able to cross over into the Promised Land. But God is so intentional in the way he walks with us and so intentional about the way that he works through us in those seasons of life. He's got a plan, even if we can't see it yet. Here's the good news: God is still working miracles today. And I'm believing that your miracle is on its way.So, let’s build a faith memorial.Hope you enjoy this episode! The Songs of Ascent: How Music Impacts Memory & Identity | Ep. 29
There are some songs that we absolutely love to hear on repeat at certain times of the year, because it touches our soul and our memories in some way.Songs can mark milestones in our lives and bring us back to that very moment when we hear it again.Songs can connect us to other people and actually bring hearts into alignment.Singing songs on a bad day can sometimes be the only thing to turn the mood around and shift our perspective. Why is that?Well, God designed our brains with such intention, and in today’s episode I want to talk about the power of music through the lens of the Songs of Ascent which is a 15-song playlist found in the Book of Psalms.Let this be a reminder that music can and should be woven into our rhythm of repetition and our cycles of rest.Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

The Simplicity of the Sabbath (What It Is, Why You Need It, and How to Do It) | Ep. 28
REST SERIES (3/3)Has someone ever told you to rest and you think, “I wish I could!”Well, a tea bag label once told me, “When God made time, he made enough of it.” That convicted me then, and it continues to convict me today if I ever catch myself saying I don’t have enough time to rest. God was very intentional in showing us a weekly pattern or rhythm we can all follow — work for 6 days, then rest for 1. But it’s one of the Ten Commandments that we can very easily brush aside when our to-do list feels too long and the days feel too short. In today’s episode, let me unpack the history of the Sabbath and what it means for us today as modern-day Christians. What is it? Why do I need it? And how do I do it? Let me talk to you about how it can be incorporated into your life. Let me have these few moments of your time… as you pause, listen, and lean in to see what God might whisper to you about the simplicity of the Sabbath. The Rhythm of Repetition | Ep. 26
REST SERIES (1/3)Life isn’t meant to be a constant sprint... yet sometimes we find ourselves on a hamster wheel and feel like we can't get off to catch our breath. On this episode, let's look at how nature teaches us that life is lived in rhythms — seasons that cycle and patterns that repeat. Perhaps embracing repetition, rest, and renewal is the very thing you need to bring balance to your life. Just as the earth pauses in winter and blooms again in spring, we too are designed for rhythms of work and rest, growth and reflection. Let's uncover why leaning into repetition in our everyday lives and our calendar years isn’t dull — it’s the very thing that restores and strengthens us. Over the coming weeks, we will be exploring the joy that's found in rest through a range of different lenses. I hope you enjoy it!PS - It's my birthday week, so all poetry prints are only $5 this week! Yet I Will Rejoice | Ep. 25
Ever felt like you were wrestling God? Have you ever gone to God with question after question in an attempt to understand the season you were in?Today, let’s explore the book of Habakkuk together to understand how this man learned to both wrestle and embrace God. He knows what waiting on God feels like, and he wasn’t ashamed to enter into conversation with God about the struggles he was facing.Carrying confetti can sometimes feel like a ‘wrestle and embrace’ too. It doesn’t erase the struggle, but it does remind us about the truth of God’s character as we grow in intimacy with him.Holding onto the hope of a promise in an undefined waiting period is what can actually lead us to a stronger faith – a faith that isn’t phased by the storms that swirl around us or the unanswered questions that swirl within us.So, my prayer is that by the end of this episode, you will be able to say, “Yet I will rejoice!” Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

Hills, High Places, and the Promise of Heaven | Ep. 24
AESTHETICS OF JOY (9/9)We've made it to the final episode in our series on the aesthetics of joy, and I'm excited to bring you one that speaks to the notion of transcendence. Why do we long for a feeling of lightness and elevation? And where should we look to find it? Also, why is upwardness a metaphor for positivity? What effect does an upward motion have on our minds? Just like the enemy can try and distort our joy of wonder and joy of abundance, he's also relentlessly tried to distort the joy of transcendence. So, let's talk about the biblical battle of 'high places' and why we should fix our eyes on heaven. Thanks for coming on this journey to discover joy in our everyday reality. BONUS: Come Into the Light
Hey y'all! Welcome to my first bonus episode, because it felt like the right week to sprinkle a little extra confetti... and a little extra joy found through freedom in Jesus Christ. This message is one I recently spoke at Replenish Conference -- an annual women's conference we host at our local church, Elim Papakura. But this message is not just for women! Men, I know you're listening, and I promise you (hand on heart) this bonus episode is for you too. When I spoke it live, many women found freedom that night from spiritual forces of evil, and I pray that many listeners around the world would experience that same freedom from darkness... as you listen in your living room, in your car, while out walking, and in the comfort of your bedroom.May darkness flee as you come into the light.God bless you!Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

Wide Open Spaces, Wild Open Hearts | Ep. 23
AESTHETICS OF JOY (8/9)What does freedom feel like? Maybe it's a windswept hilltop where you can see for miles, salt on your skin as you stand at the edge of the ocean, or perhaps it's bare feet on the ground of a garden where you're producing food for your family. In this episode, we explore the joy found in wildness, open spaces, and the untamed beauty of nature — and how it echoes a deeper, soul-level freedom found in Christ. Why does our soul long for a sense of freedom? And what happens in communities when a sense of freedom gets taken away? Through stories, scripture, and psychology, let's explore the joy found in freedom and why we all long for liberation. Two weeks left in our Joy Hunt! Life Was Never Meant to Be This Chaotic | Ep. 22
AESTHETICS OF JOY (7/9)Hey friend, sometimes our lives can feel pretty disordered and chaotic... yet they were never meant to be. But all too easily, we can slip into crowded schedules, working overtime to make ends meet, drowning in laundry for a growing family, attempting to maintain a social life, keep the house clean, weed the garden, often failing to look after ourselves, and maybe you're in a position where too many people are asking you questions... and you're tired... Maybe... just maybe... you desire a sense of harmony. Why does harmony bring us such joy? How could a more organised life lead you to a greater sense of peace? From Gray to Yay: How Colour and Light Transform Your Life | Ep. 21
AESTHETICS OF JOY (6/9)The use of colour and light can transform a room, an office, and even a city. Could it also transform you? Let's dig into the powerful aesthetic of joy called 'energy' that's shown through colour and light. We're drawn to it all in nature, so why do we so often ignore it in our own physical spaces? But more importantly, why are Christians called "Children of Light", and are we living up to that name? Let today's episode be an encouragement to you to SHINE, as a radiant child of light. If you let God transform you with his light, then you become someone who can carry that light into the world impacting the souls around you. The Delight and Danger of More | Ep. 20
AESTHETICS OF JOY (5/9)What do apple orchards, berry farms, and flower fields have in common with candy stores, toy stores, and IKEA? Why do kids always choose the treat with sprinkles? Why does confetti make people smile, as it cascades through the air? Why does time spent in a park with a high density of plant and bird life lead to greater wellbeing? The answer to all of these questions lies in the idea of abundance.Today, I explore this topic to better understand the joyful delight of abundance. However, we also need to talk about the danger of more, as there is a line between delight and danger that we should be aware of.Society, marketing agencies, and influencers all play into this emotional delight of abundance, but I’m going to give you a few ways of satisfying this desire for more without actually needing more.To celebrate 20 episodes, I’m also packing 20 pieces of confetti mail for my lovely listeners! Chasing Wonder: The Joy of What We Can’t Explain | Ep. 18
AESTHETICS OF JOY (3/9)What if not having all the answers is part of the journey? In this episode, we explore the joy of wonder — the kind that keeps us curious, open, and alive to the invisible work of God in and around us. From awe-inspiring moments in nature to the quiet mysteries of faith, we’ll talk about why chasing wonder isn’t about escaping reality, but rather leaning deeper into it knowing a bigger picture is at play. And also knowing spiritual forces we cannot see are at play too. Join me as we celebrate curiosity, embrace the beauty of the unknown, and discover why the wonderful and miraculous just might be holy ground. This is Part 3 in our series on the "aesthetics of joy" — a series that is a growing, beautiful collection, but also each episode can stand alone. To join our Joy Hunt, share your photos of awe and wonder with me on Instagram by tagging @carryconfetti and using the hashtag #ccpjoyhunt or send me an email with a miracle story. AESTHETICS OF JOY (2/9)Have you ever been caught off guard by something unexpectedly beautiful or delightful? In this episode, we explore the joy of surprise — the kind that shows up in whimsy, contrast, and those little moments that make us smile when we least expect it. I'll also dive into how God often works through the unexpected, surprising us with His plans, timing, and grace. These divine detours may not always make sense at first, but they often lead to the deepest joy. Change Your Mental Game with Gratitude | Ep. 15
What if gratitude isn’t just a nice idea, but rather a life-shifting, heart-healing, brain-rewiring practice? In this episode, I'm talking about how thankfulness reshaped my mindset and softened my heart (and continues too!) and how it could impact yours. We'll walk through the story of the 10 lepers in Luke 17 and pause on the 1 who returned to say thank you (even though all 10 were healed). We’ll also explore the science behind gratitude: how it can literally rewire our brains, reduce stress, and improve our relationships. If you’ve ever struggled to stay thankful in hard seasons, found it difficult to notice the good, or wondered if gratitude is really that powerful, I hope you take the time to listen.1 Thessalonians 5:16-18----This week's Confetti Recipe is a week-long gratitude challenge. For my listeners who don't have Instagram, you can still participate by screenshotting the 7 prompts below :) ----MONDAY: Send a voice note to someone today saying thank you or showing appreciation for them in some way (You can send voice notes on iMessage, Messenger, Instagram, and probably most other messaging apps these days)TUESDAY: Leave a good review for a company you love, a product you love, or even a podcast you love ;)WEDNESDAY: Write a thank you card -- old school with pen and paper (I don't care if you think your handwriting is bad, email is simply not the same as receiving a physical card) THURSDAY: Get someone an appreciation gift (Could be as simple as a coffee and pastry or you could make it really personal if you know what that person loves, wants, or needs in this season)FRIDAY: Send an email to someone who has impacted you at some point in your life and you still often think of the impact they made but have never told them (Maybe it's an old teacher, a sports coach, a therapist or counsellor, a pastor, an old friend, a family member, etc.)SATURDAY: Start your morning with some songs about gratitude and thankfulness (blast them in your kitchen or in your car!) and if you need some recommendations, I love 'Gratitude' by Brandon Lake, 'I Thank God' by Maverick City Music, 'Thank You Lord' by Chris Tomlin, 'Waking Up' by We The Kingdom, 'Sing Wherever I Go' by We The Kingdom, and 'AMEN' by Forrest FrankSUNDAY: Tell God everything you're thankful for throughout your day (I want you to actively notice the good in every moment and whisper little heart prayers of gratitude to God)God bless y'all!Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

The Psychology and Theology of Forgiveness (Part 2) | Ep. 14
What if the joy you’re craving is waiting on the other side of forgiveness? In this new episode, we’re continuing our conversation about forgiveness — not just why it matters, but how it heals. By the end of this episode, I hope you feel empowered to write a new narrative in your life — one not marked by cycles of pain and bitterness.Through illustration and metaphor, I'm going to give you some practical tools to try in your own life. These tools have been used in the Stanford Forgiveness Project (run by Dr. Fred Luskin) or in an actual therapist's office to help a client journey through significant hurt.If you’ve ever said, “I want to forgive, but I don’t know how,” this one’s for you.Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

The Psychology and Theology of Forgiveness (Part 1) | Ep. 13
What if the key to more peace and joy isn’t doing more… but rather letting go? Letting go of hurt. Letting go of grudges. Letting go of unforgiveness. In this episode, we’re diving into what science says about the power of forgiveness — including fascinating research on how it impacts your mental and physical health. I’ll help you identify whether or not you have a ‘grievance story’ – a term created by Dr. Fred Luskin, author of “Forgive for Good”. Then we’ll shift gears and look at what scripture teaches us: that forgiveness isn’t just a suggestion, it’s a command — one that frees us just as much as the people we forgive. Swimming in the Deep (What Faith Feels Like) | Ep. 11
Have you ever wondered why God is so mysterious? Has the mystery of God ever stopped you from believing in Him? Has the lack of answers to your burning questions ever stopped you from trusting Him? Do you realise that God exists outside of our limited human understanding? Picture yourself standing inside a square frame; that's your frame of reference. If God perfectly fit inside your frame of reference, then He wouldn't actually be so wonderful and powerful. But because He exists outside of that frame of reference (outside of time and space), He will always hold a sense of wonder in our hearts. His power is far bigger than we could ever imagine. His plans are far greater than we could ever dream. His love is far more expansive than you could ever put words to.The wonder and mystery of God magnifies His greatness. Our challenge then is to learn how to trust Him when it feels like we're swimming in the deep -- swimming in waters so expansive and mysterious that we could never even fathom what those waters hold, the depths those waters go, or the breadth those waters reach. Faith feels like swimming in the deep. So, would you dive in with me, as I take us to the Book of Ezekiel? There's a beautiful vision I want to show you.Connect with me on Instagram: @carryconfetti Sign up to Cup of Confetti, my monthly newsletter: https://carryconfetti.kit.com/b58e8ac914If you'd like to support the podcast or say thank you for a particular episode, you're welcome to buy me a coffee or purchase a poetry print here: https://buymeacoffee.com/carryconfetti

ABOUT THIS SHOW
A podcast to help you discover how to cultivate a life of hopeful expectation and daily celebration.
