    Why did I choose to start this podcast with the topic of safety? After decades of helping people sleep, I’ve learned one thing again and again … we sleep when we feel safe. In this very first episode of Fast Asleep, Wide Awake, I share the story of how that truth first came to me, standing in front of 500 lawyers, saying something I hadn’t planned, and watching it land in the most remarkable way. That moment changed the course of my work. This episode is an invitation … into the idea that safety isn’t just a psychological concept or a corporate initiative. It’s a deeply physiological experience that begins within. I talk about what it means to feel safe at a cellular level, why the world wasn’t ready for my book on safety until the pandemic, and how my little rescue dog Mira became my teacher in embodying calm and stability. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just tired to your bones … come listen. Let this be a gentle beginning. A reminder that inner safety is not only possible, it’s where everything good begins.
