From participating in mission trips abroad to leading a Human Trafficking Coalition, Laura Cusack is a true modern day freedom fighter. Today she shares about the crucial benefits of talking to children early about parameters and safety online, plus about the truth and harms when you choose to not talk to children about sex and porn. Today's episode also touches on the root causes to why teenagers do not go to their parents if they experience sextortion but how parents and youth leaders can create a safe environment for their young people which invites hard conversations about sex, and their lives. My guest today, Rebecca Herbert with 4Kids, passionately explains in this episode the major ways volunteers make an impact when they come alongside foster families. In Florida, children typically move homes/placements an average of 5.26 times within 1,000 days. With 4kids' assistance, this number drops down to only 1.45 times because of the great support from volunteers and staff members. The reduction in the amount of times a child moves provides the child with greater stability and the opportunity to heal, develop, and grow. Question: Have you heard of a guy in the Bible named Nehemiah? His story is found in the Old Testament, in the book of Nehemiah. I find his story so fascinating! He's a guy who heard some really disturbing news, which moved him into a response of prayer and action. He set out on a mission to invest himself in a project because he was moved by the need of his day. I wonder if we could do the same! In today's world, volunteering is not a new concept, but sometimes we just don't know where to start or what to do.
