On Christmas day at around 12pm I received a call from my mother in Las Vegas. At first i could not understand what she was saying because she was so hysterical and could not stop crying. With pain in her voice she was finally able to say it..."Se nos fue Javie" which means... "Javie is gone" i was in shock! I did not know what to say or what to think, i was even hoping it was a dream or a joke idk. But i was just stuck and shocked. Why would my 30 yr old cousin leave us, why him and not me? Why... so many questions but still i could not process what I just heard. My cousin like so many young men are struggling everyday in silence, feeling like they cannot talk to anybody about their problems or about how they truly feel. I wish. I could have had one more conversation with my cousin but i know its too late. But i can have this conversation today and honor his memory by speaking to someone out there that might be struggling with depression. Please, please, please know that YOU MATTER!! This is the inspiring story of Jessica Ramirez, a young woman from Bloomington, California who found her identity through her faith in Christ. With her father in a gang, she endured abuse at the early age of nine and eventually giving birth to her son at the age of 14. Jessica continued to live her life despite the abuse, sadness and now being a mother to her son but she just could not find herself. She eventually went into deep drinking and living a life far from God. She even fell into obesity, weighing more than 300 lbs. at one point. Rubin Valverde was born in Colorado but raised here in Colton, CA. A small town in Southern California with some hardcore roots. Graduated from Colton High School and went into the US Military as he felt that was the best option for his at that time. There he picked up both good and bad habits and would quickly realize that besides his biological father, there was something missing. Rubin considered himself an atheist but after the military and struggling with PTSD he had a true genuine encounter with Christ that changed his life! Months after he was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer and meningitis, Rubin's faith was quickly tested as he battled this for months to come. He shares his real, raw thoughts throughout this process but how deep inside he knew God was with him and God had a plan! MDs could not explain but after some time his cancer numbers began to vanish and thats when he knew without a doubt that God's miracle power was healing him.
