It's a serious problem in Latin America too, where it's the most commonly found cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women. If we catch breast cancer early, it can be treated well, and about 9 out of 10 women can survive it. This is where Josefa comes in with her start-up Palpa which is selling a device that helps women to recognize breast cancer at home. Josefa Cortés is 25 years old and based in Chile. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton and A.B. from Harvard and spent time in between on social advocacy and policy research.
