PURPOSE FINDER PODCAST
by charisa Munroe-Wilborn
In this debut episode, I take the hot seat (yes, my team insisted!) to share my personal journey—one of loss, resilience, and ultimately, purpose. I open up about the painful yet powerful transition after losing both my parents at the same time and how that moment of despair led me to a life of meaning and impact. If you’ve ever felt lost, unworthy, or unsure of what comes next, I hope my story reminds you that as long as you have breath, you have purpose.

Your 9 to 5 Is Not the Enemy: Brandon Positive B White on Faith, Consistency, and Funding Your Purpose - Episode 49
What if the thing standing between you and your purpose is not your circumstances, but your patience? I have to be honest with you. This conversation gave me so much life. I sat down with Brandon White, known to the world as “Positive B” White, and I walked away reminded of something we all need to hear again. There are no shortcuts worth taking. The process is the point. Brandon is a motivational speaker, five time author, radio show host, and the founder of Positive Passionate Motivated, his advertising company dedicated to amplifying real success stories. He works in the aviation industry and yes, he still has his 9 to 5. And that is exactly what makes this conversation so refreshing. Because Brandon is not selling you a dream that skips the work. He is showing you what it looks like to build something real, one brick at a time, while life is still happening all around you. He talks about the six to seven years he spent missing family holidays and weekends because of his schedule at work. He talks about working two jobs, saving tax returns, and funneling overtime pay into his dreams. He talks about the microwave mentality that is robbing this generation of the very thing they are chasing. And he talks about how his daughter now sits in the radio station testing the mics before they go on air. That last part got me. We also get into the green grass conversation, and I will just say, my husband went all the way in on our lawn and I am so glad he did. Because the lesson it taught me about comparison, patience, and doing the actual work is one I will never forget. This episode is for the 18 to 30 year old who is trying to figure it all out. It is for the person who has been looking over the fence at someone else's journey and wondering why theirs does not look the same. And it is for anyone who has been tempted to walk away from their 9 to 5 before it has finished doing its job. Purpose is more than a buzzword. It is the anchor for meaning, fulfillment, and significance, and it will hold you steady even when life gets hard. Your story is not random. It is guiding you toward your why. So start the conversation, take the first step, and trust that the purpose already inside you is worth pursuing. Hit play and let this episode be the nudge you needed today. When You Don’t See It, Do It Anyway with Antonia G.M. Lightbourne - Episode 48
There is a girl or boy out there right now who does not know why they are here. They do not know if it is worth staying. And they need this episode. This week I sat with someone I have admired from a distance, and I am so glad we finally got on that call together. Antonia G.M. Lightbourne is a purpose activist, a youth champion, a speaker, a published author, and the visionary behind a movement that has received official government recognition in the Bahamas. But long before any of that, she was a teenager sitting in darkness, asking God if she even had a reason to be here. Antonia takes us back to the divorce that shattered her world as a child, the depression and low self-esteem that followed her all the way into salvation, the imposter syndrome that had her literally going missing when her name was about to be called. And then she takes us all the way forward to standing before the Prime Minister (of The Bahamas), lining up rocks as a little girl that her grandfather said would one day be people. Yes. That kind of episode. We talk about obedience as an act of courage, what happens when God says go and everything inside you says no, and what it means to die to yourself so that the people assigned to you can actually receive what they need. We talk about Purpose Awareness Month, a whole national movement born from one woman saying yes to a vision she could not yet see clearly. And there is something in this conversation for the person who has been running, for the leader who has been making excuses, for the young person who still does not know what they are here for, and for anyone who has ever felt like the darkness was too familiar, too comfortable, maybe even too safe. It is not too late. It is not too big. And it is not about you anyway. God is more invested in you discovering your purpose than you will ever be. Her vibrant communication style has opened doors in radio hosting on Joy 101.9fm, public speaking, and event production. A mentor to many, Antonia has been named among the top 40 most influential youth under 40 in the Bahamas, recognized as a top 48 Millennial by Project Y Bahamas, and honored as the youngest inductee in the first cohort of the Youth Leaders’ Hall of Excellence in 2023. From Benchmarks to Breakthroughs: The Purpose Journey of Monty Lans - Episode 47
What if every dead end in your life was actually preparing you for where you were always meant to be? This episode stopped me in my tracks and I think it's going to do the same for you. I sat down with Monty Lans, one of the most authentic and gifted content creators I have had the pleasure of watching from the sidelines. And trust me, I watched for a while before I finally said, I have to get this man on the podcast. Because Monty is not just talking about purpose, he is living it out, boldly, unapologetically, and with a whole lot of humor along the way. Monty went from college basketball star with a full scholarship and a shot at playing overseas, to stand-up comedian performing alongside some of the biggest names in New York, to network marketer, to solar sales, to surviving the pandemic on unemployment and PPP loans and somehow, through all of it, landing exactly where God needed him to be: a full-time content creator and strategist helping people show up, build their brand, and use their gifts without apology. In this conversation, Monty takes us through the winding, unfiltered road of his purpose journey and what comes out of it is something every single one of us needs to hear. We talk about passion, identity, comparison, faith, money, and what it really means to steward the gifts God has placed in your hands. This one is equal parts real talk and revelation, and I promise you will walk away with at least one thing that shifts something in you. Now press play. You are going to want to hear this one from the very beginning. Your detours were never dead ends, they were always the direction. From Rejection to Resilience: Candera Lomax’s Journey - Episode 46
At some point in life, we find ourselves standing in spaces we once dreamed of reaching, yet quietly wondering if we truly belong there. Success on the outside can often hide inner doubts, questions of worthiness, and moments of feeling like an imposter. In this episode, I sit down with a great friend, Candera Lomax, to talk about how purpose often unfolds through seasons of uncertainty, growth, and healing. Candera Lomax is an educator, mentor, author, and newly graduated doctoral scholar who now chairs and mentors doctoral students while helping develop a graduate counseling program at Oral Roberts University. While her accomplishments are remarkable, her journey to this moment included serious health challenges during the final stages of her doctorate, seasons of rejection, and years of wondering whether marriage would ever be part of her story. Eventually, love did arrive. Candera met her husband Herbert later in life, and because they both had clarity about what they wanted, their relationship moved quickly from meeting to marriage in about ten months. Yet as she shares honestly, the joy of marriage also surfaced deeper layers of healing connected to past trauma and the weight of purity culture. One of the most powerful moments she describes is the day she spoke compassionately to her inner child, a step that became a turning point in her healing journey. We also talk about how Candera discovered her deeper sense of purpose. During a leadership meeting where imposter syndrome showed up strongly, she experienced a moment of clarity about the work she felt called to do helping young women discover their beauty, purpose, and destiny. That realization eventually led to the creation of Blossoms, and through her work and her book Rock That Dress: Embracing Your Unique Design, she reminds us that we don’t have to wear someone else’s purpose, the one designed for our lives already fits. After graduating from the then College of the Bahamas in 2007, she spent eight years teaching Religious Studies at S.C. McPherson Junior High School. During her tenure, she founded a mentoring program for young women, which inspired her to pursue a master’s degree in counseling to better serve their needs. Dr. Lomax holds a Master’s in Professional Counseling and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, both from Oral Roberts University. When Grief Changes You But Does Not Define You with Alexis Hunter - Episode 44
What do you do when the life you built with someone suddenly ends? I want you to really sit with that. When you are married, you grow together. You discover parts of yourself through conversation, conflict, compromise, and shared dreams. Marriage is a continuous unfolding. So what happens when that unfolding is interrupted without warning? In this deeply transparent conversation, I sit down with Alexis Hunter to talk about what it truly means to be widowed young and left holding conversations that will never be finished. At 29 years old, Alexis had what many would describe as the dream. She was married, raising her son, owned her home, and was serving as a National Marketing Director for an international nonprofit organization. Then on May 3, 2019, her husband was involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. After three months of fighting for his life, he passed away on August 3, 2019. Everything changed. And what moved me most about Alexis is not just what she lost. It is how she chose to respond to what was left. Grief reshaped her life. It forced new questions. Who am I now? What does my future look like? How do I honor what was while still stepping toward what can be? This episode is not just about widowhood. It is about identity, faith, and rebuilding when the life you planned no longer exists. I believe this deeply. Grief will change you, but it does not get to define you. If your story has ever been interrupted, this conversation will remind you that a broken timeline does not mean a canceled purpose. Finding Your Assignment: Overcoming Victimhood and Living Purposefully with Tbo Touch - Episode 43
One of the most profound moments in this conversation came when I listened to Tbo Touch, a South African broadcaster and global thought leader, reframe desire itself. He spoke openly about the danger of confusing what we want with what we are actually built to carry. With striking honesty, he shared that there were seasons where he found himself recovering from things he once prayed for, experiences, access, opportunities, and influence, only to realize they were never meant to be permanent fixtures in his life. Not everything we want is good for us. Not everything we desire is safe for us. And not everything we can access is something we have the capacity to contain. Through fasting and prayer, Tbo Touch explained how discernment sharpened his prayers, shifting them from “Lord, give me more” to “Lord, give me only what I can steward.” His prayer was no longer about excess, but precision, not more than he is built for, not less than he is assigned, exactly what aligns with his growth, character, and calling. He shared how this season of life marked a turning point, where wisdom and revelation now sit at the top of his hierarchy of needs. Not visibility. Not gigs. Not endorsements. Not applause. Growth. I found myself reflecting on a deeper question. If God is only good when things are abundant, what happens when they are stripped away? But if God is good because we are growing, then fruitfulness is no longer self serving. It becomes generational. This opened the door for me to expand the conversation by reframing fasting beyond food, inviting listeners to examine what truly has control over them. I shared my own journey of fasting sugar after realizing it had become an emotional and physical dependency. What followed was not deprivation. It was clarity, healing, energy, discipline, and deeper intimacy with God. What I thought I needed, God replaced with something better. Showing Up Courageously: Purpose, Growth, and Leadership with Jourdan Guyton - Episode 42
Sometimes showing up does not look polished. Sometimes it looks like tears, a shaky voice, and the decision to speak anyway. And sometimes that is exactly what someone else needs. In this episode of The Purpose Finder Podcast, I sit down with Jourdan Guyton for a conversation about purpose, courage, and what it means to keep showing up even when life feels heavy. Jourdan shares her journey from growing up in Hawaii to working in television, stepping in front of the camera, and eventually building a business that helps women show up and sell with alignment and integrity. We talk openly about grief, faith, and community, including how losing her mother reshaped not only Jourdan’s life but the way she leads and serves other women. This conversation is a reminder that we are never truly alone, and that our willingness to show up honestly can be the very thing someone else needs to hear in their own season of struggle. Jourdan also shares what it really takes to build sustainable success, from prioritizing gratitude and humility to embracing the discomfort and consistency required to grow. We unpack the truth about abundance, alignment, and the courage it takes to keep going, especially when the work feels unseen or imperfect. If you are navigating growth, entrepreneurship, grief, or the ongoing work of reconnecting your head and your heart, this episode will meet you where you are. It’s a conversation about showing up as you are, trusting the process, and continuing forward with purpose and intention. The 13-Inch Journey Between the Head and the Heart w/ Sandi Lynn - Episode 40
This episode of the PURPOSE FINDER PODCAST is a powerful reminder that purpose does not fade with age. In many ways, it deepens. I sit with my dear friend Sandi Lynn, who is living fully in what she calls her fourth quarter, yet shows up with joy, curiosity, and energy. Her life reflects what it looks like to stay engaged, connected, and open to what is still possible, even in seasons many assume are meant for slowing down. Sandi shares honestly about the journey between the head and the heart, what she calls the thirteen inch journey. Over the years, and especially during her time as a caregiver for her husband, she learned when to lean into logic and when to surrender to feeling and faith. During the global shutdown, she found unexpected space to slow down, grow, and enroll in a year-long transformational program that supported her through grief, caregiving, and deep personal reflection. We talk openly about loss, including the ending of a role she believed would be her long term purpose work. That loss was painful and disorienting, yet it revealed an important truth. Purpose is not attached to a single job, title, age, or season. When one door closes, the calling does not disappear. It simply begins to take a new form, often one we could not see at first. In this season of her life, Sandi has become deeply intentional about how she lives and leads. She focuses on what matters most, structures her days around her core priorities, and refuses to believe that purpose and joy cannot coexist. After years of caregiving, she has reclaimed fun, connection, rest, and creativity without guilt, showing that meaningful work can be life giving rather than draining. This conversation is for anyone navigating transition, grief, or the question of what comes next. Sandi’s story reminds us that as long as there is breath, there is purpose. When we stay willing to listen, trust, and live from the heart, every season, including the later ones, can still be rich with meaning, movement, and joy. Reluctant Yes, Relentless Faith with Pastor Joshua Williams - Episode 39
What if purpose isn’t the thing you’re excited about but the thing you’re obedient to, even while hoping god chooses someone else? In this episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast, I sat down with Pastor Joshua Williams for a conversation that stayed with me long after we wrapped. We didn’t rush purpose or try to make it sound pretty. We talked about what it’s really like to say yes when you’re unsure, conflicted, and still figuring things out. We talked about obedience that isn’t loud or confident but real. Josh shared how his yes to leadership wasn’t clean or exciting. It was Jonah-like. Obedient, but reluctant. Faithful, but wrestling. Saying yes while quietly hoping God might change His mind. And still the purpose unfolded. Not because everything made sense. Not because he felt ready. But because he stayed and kept showing up. If you’ve ever felt called and confused at the same time… If you’ve ever said yes while still questioning… If you’ve ever wondered why purpose doesn’t always feel inspiring… This conversation is for you. He is dedicated to creativity and innovation, reaching both the “over-churched” and the “under-churched,” with his deepest desire being to lead a church that acts as Jesus’ hands and feet. New Year. New Standards. Breaking Cycles on Purpose with Charisa Munroe-Wilborn - Episode 38
The start of a new year invites reflection, but this episode calls for a decision. This is not a conversation about resolutions or reinvention. It’s a call to carry yourself differently as you step into a new year with intention, clarity, and courage. In this powerful New Year release, Charisa Munroe-Wilborn invites listeners to break cycles intentionally, not accidentally. Cycles formed by past decisions, delayed obedience, misplaced emotional access, and patterns that quietly keep us stuck. This episode challenges you to stop letting yesterday’s habits dictate today’s choices and instead, choose patterns that produce momentum, peace, and purpose. This is an episode about three things: identity, obedience, and emotional authority. About no longer settling for unmet goals and unmet expectations and then apologizing for them. About choosing differently so you don’t have to explain later. Ending the Year Unstoppable: 7 Courageous Decisions That Shift Your Life Now w/ Charisa Munroe-Wilborn - Episode 37
You are here, and I am so glad you are. As this year comes to a close, I want to invite you into a personal conversation. In the episode, I share my reflections and the seven courageous decisions I am making as I conclude one year and step into the next season of life. I titled this episode Ending the Year Unstoppable because we do not become unstoppable someday. We decide to become unstoppable now. This is not about resolutions or waiting for January, it is about making choices before the year ends that shift who we are, how we think, and how we move forward in purpose. I walk through what I call the Seven (7) Courage Decisions That Shift Your Life and speak honestly about how procrastination, perfectionism, and waiting for the right time hold us back. Excellence moves. Perfection stalls. Once I chose excellence over perfection, doors began to open. Ask yourself what you are still waiting for: clarity, confidence, approval, permission? The instruction has not changed. God is still saying start. Courage Decision Six is the decision to raise your standard. Who you are becoming is what the world will experience. Raising your standard means no longer settling for mediocrity in how you think, show up, and protect your time. For me, this means recommitting to my health, discipline, and consistency as a wife and mother of two. You do not rise to the level of your goals, you rise to the level of your standard. Courage Decision Seven is the decision to believe bigger not based on proof, but on trust in the God who placed purpose inside you. Bigger belief fuels movement, even before the outcome is visible. You do not need applause or validation, you only need belief. I invite you to create a purpose contract with yourself: I choose courage. I choose purpose. I release what no longer serves me. I start what God told me to start. I raise my standard. I believe bigger. This episode is an invitation to clarity, courage, and action. Decide now who you are becoming. Becoming unstoppable is not a personality trait, it is a choice, a lifestyle, and a commitment to purpose. Uncovering What’s Within with Dr. John Tyus - Episode 36
There’s a moment in every conversation where someone says something that makes you stop… and lean in a little closer. Today’s episode has a lot of those moments. Because when my guest said, “In the preparation, there was hurt. And even after all the preparation… there were still ten years of pain,” that’s when I knew this wasn’t just another story about purpose. This was about the kind of pain people don’t post about. It was the kind of pain you carry quietly, while still trying to lead, love, provide, and show up. And then he said something that stayed with me long after we stopped recording: “Out of this pain, I’m squeezing out passion. Out of this pain, I’m finding purpose.” And suddenly, everything clicked. Because purpose isn’t born on mountaintops. Purpose is squeezed out in the dark. in the years you think God forgot your timeline, the years you think everyone else is moving while you’re stuck, the years you think you’re preparing, but really, He is preparing you. And today’s guest, Dr. John Tyus, lived that. The pain. The waiting. The anxiety. The moments of “God, do you even see me?” The moments where home felt hard, marriage felt heavy, and identity felt shaken. Yet somehow, out of all of that came The I.D. Movement. Came the ministry he now leads. Came the book he’s writing. Came the man he has become. This episode holds wisdom born from failure, faith, surrender, and maturity. And it carries a message every man needs to hear: it’s in you. It has always been in you, but only God can unlock it. Once you find Him, you find yourself. Once you pursue Him, purpose begins to pursue you. Dr. Tyus focuses on the family as a whole and believes healing the nation starts with healing the family. Losing his father at eight, he has a passion for the fatherless and aims to impact the lives of men across the country. He founded The I.D. The organization hosts events like A Conversation with the Fathers and partners with churches and universities to provide programs in workforce, personal, and character development. From Civil Rights Roots to Healing and Wellness: Dwania Kyles’ Story - Episode 35
On today’s episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast, we’re exploring a story shaped by faith, family, creativity, and history. Our guest grew up in a home where music and art were the heartbeat of daily life; her father directing choirs, her mother dancing, her siblings singing. Creativity wasn’t a performance; it was her family’s foundation, and it would later become her place of healing. Her name is Dwania Kyles, and long before she understood the language of healing, she lived through one of the most pivotal moments in American history. At just twelve years old, she was helping prepare a simple pre-rally dinner for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a house full of movement leaders, food cooking in the kitchen, kids setting tables wherever they could. Meanwhile, her father was at the Lorraine Motel, talking and laughing with Dr. King minutes before the shot was fired. He was the first to reach him. And at home, all she remembers is her mother’s scream when the phone call came, and the grief that filled their house. For years, Dwania carried the unspoken trauma of that day, her father’s nightmares, the fear of him traveling through dangerous states, and the silence that settled over their home as a form of protection. It wasn’t until adulthood, through breathwork and emotional healing, that she finally began to understand what her twelve-year-old body had been holding for decades. Today, Dwania shares her story with us, not just as history, but as healing. She is a storyteller, a creative, and a guide whose depth and wisdom were shaped by a life few could ever imagine. And I believe her words will stay with you long after this episode ends. S. Supreme Court on Brown v. Board of Education. Ms. Kyles is also the eldest daughter of pioneer civil-rights activists, the late Gwendolyn Kyles and Rev. Samuel “Billy” Kyles, subject of the ’09 Oscar & ’10 Emmy nominated documentary, The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306, that gives voice to her father’s memories, who on April 4, 1968, was the only other person on the balcony, with Dr. Martin Luther King when he was fatally shot, as she, her mother and siblings were prepared to receive Dr. King and the SCLC staff at their home for dinner. An innocent participant of these two historical, yet traumatic events as a 5 and 12-year-old, it stands to reason why Ms. Kyles’ commitment to helping others connect or reconnect with their inner healer has been a lifelong passion. That same commitment paved the way on her personal journey to health and healing over the past 40 years. As a wellness coach and educator, she seeks to inform on why the power of the breath, the belief system, laughter, and self-love are the first line of defense when on the path of true healing. The Moment Purpose Interrupts You with Amb. Charlie Masala - Episode 34
There are moments when someone speaks and it doesn’t just inspire you. It interrupts you. It confronts the idols you didn’t even realize you were holding. It exposes where you’ve been leaning on people instead of leaning on God. And suddenly, something inside you whispers, “If God doesn’t show up… I’m done.” This episode is one of those moments. Because here’s what I’ve learned in my own journey: God wants you. Not your performance. Not your connections. Not your work. Just you. Today, I’m sitting down with Amb. Charlie Masala, a man who walked closely with my father, Dr. Myles Munroe, for more than 27 years, and someone whose life embodies faithfulness, loyalty, and the courage to follow God no matter the cost. Our conversation goes deep. We talk about obedience when it’s uncomfortable, serving when it’s unseen, navigating seasons of loss, and the moment God strips away every dependency so you remember who your true Source is. This episode will stir you, challenge you, and remind you of this simple truth that keeps echoing in my spirit: Nothing in your life can stand, not purpose, not calling, not vision, unless God is at the center of it. Purpose, Pain, and Power with Rebecca King-Crews - Episode 33
What does it really look like to walk with God when the spotlight is on you? When your life, marriage, and faith are on display for the world to see, staying true to your calling takes courage and surrender. In this powerful episode, Rebecca King-Crews, actress, singer, pastor, and wife of Terry Crews, opens up about walking through public pain, private battles, and the process of letting God rebuild her from the inside out. Through seasons of betrayal, healing, and redemption, Rebecca shares how faith, forgiveness, and obedience became the foundation for her transformation and how she learned that true success is not about fame or image but about becoming who God called you to be. “Forgiveness is for your healing. Aligned, Not Identical: The Power of Purpose in Partnership with Antonia and Theron Feemster - Episode 32
In this heartfelt episode of The Purpose Finder Podcast, we step inside the world of Theron and Antonia Feemster, a couple whose story reminds us that purpose and partnership aren’t separate paths but sacred parallels. Theron shares how his return to faith led to an unexpected encounter that would shape his future, meeting Antonia, the pastor’s daughter, who would become his wife. What started as a spark of curiosity grew into a covenant built on love, alignment, and a shared vision to serve something bigger than themselves. Now, 14 years, three children, and countless life lessons later, they reflect on what it means to grow together through seasons, not just go together through time. Their story isn’t a highlight reel. It’s full of the honest, messy, beautiful work of learning from each other, from the early days of trying to merge opposite worlds (artist meets analytical mind), to learning new rhythms of love, to finding harmony on purpose. They talk about water and seed, how love becomes the life force that nourishes everything else in their ecosystem: marriage, family, work, and calling. It’s the principle that keeps them grounded, growing, and full of wonder. Antonia opens up about being an introvert paired with an expressive, extroverted husband and how Theron’s words and warmth cracked open a shell she didn’t realize she was hiding behind. “He has the parts that I need,” she shares, describing the ways their differences became divine design. They reveal how their partnership evolved from creative clashes and growing pains (“You don’t build houses!” / “You don’t do music!”) to now merge their talents and businesses into one: Neuromonics, a fusion of sound, structure, and spirit. Their marriage became a living metaphor for what’s possible when two purposes intertwine instead of compete. A North Carolina native, he began playing piano and drums at the age of two and served as a musician in his father’s church where his love for sound was first awakened. He went on to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where his passion for production was born. One of his earliest beats, made in his dorm room, became the theme song for Men in Black 2 with Will Smith, launching a career that led him to work with major artists like Will Smith and Macy Gray, and to serve as a musical director on global stages. After years of touring, studio sessions, and mainstream success, Theron felt a deeper call to rediscover who he was beyond achievement and to realign with the One who gave him his gift. That search led him back to church after more than a decade away, a decision that not only reignited his spiritual life but also brought him face to face with the woman who would become his wife and purpose partner, Antonia. Theron’s story is one of transformation, surrender, and spiritual creativity. Today, he continues to bridge art, sound, and faith through his work, inspiring others to find healing and divine alignment through authentic purpose. Antonia Feemster is a builder, developer, and creative mind whose life embodies the beauty of quiet strength and spiritual grounding. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, she brings both vision and compassion to her work as a real estate developer, creating affordable housing in Los Angeles and North Carolina with a mission to offer stability and dignity through design. A pastor’s daughter with a heart for growth and transformation, Antonia approaches a purpose like architecture, intentionally, thoughtfully, and with an eye toward what lasts. Her curiosity about how buildings and resorts are made led her to pursue mentorship, hands-on internships, and real-world experience in property development. She’s known for her calm wisdom, deep introspection, and gift for seeing potential in people, in ideas, and in what others overlook. Her partnership with Theron reflects her belief that love and purpose aren’t separate pursuits but sacred extensions of each other. Together, they lead by example, showing how faith, humility, and shared vision can turn ordinary moments into extraordinary purpose. From Pain to Purpose with Zemi Stewart - Episode 31
This week’s episode… whew. It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s such a beautiful reminder that God really does meet us right in the middle of our healing. I sat down with Zemi Stewart, the amazing founder of Wife Her Ministry, and we talked about what it truly looks like to move from pain to purpose, not the “pretty Instagram version” of healing, but the real kind. The kind that happens in the quiet, in unexpected moments, and sometimes… in the middle of a facial. Zemi opens up about her personal journey, the heartbreak, the surrender, and how God used even the most ordinary moments to bring her back to herself. We talked about what it means to release control, to trust God’s timing when nothing makes sense, and to keep showing up with faith even when you don’t have all the answers. This conversation is a gentle reminder that healing isn’t linear, it’s layered, it’s sacred, and it’s deeply personal. Whether you’re in a season of waiting, rebuilding, or rediscovering who you are, Zemi’s story will speak to your heart and remind you that God wastes nothing. If you’ve ever asked, “Where is God in this?”… this episode will remind you that He’s been right there all along, weaving purpose through every part of your process. Through years of personal challenges, from processing grief and navigating turbulent relationships (including surviving an abusive one), to rediscovering herself and her faith, Zemi built resilience by stabilizing her life through her relationship with the Lord and, later, through the partnership and support of her husband, Ian Stewart. When Pleasing People Isn’t Pleasing God with Randal McKoy - Episode 30
Friends, this episode is so close to my heart. As many of you know, I grew up as the daughter of the late Dr. Myles Munroe, and with that came both incredible privilege and enormous pressure. Today, I sat down with someone who knows that journey all too well: Randal “Randy” McKoy, son of a bishop, grandson of a community leader, and a man who’s chosen to live boldly in his purpose. Randy opens up about one of the most defining moments of his life, a breaking point that became his turning point. After years of trying to please his parents, church, and community, Randy found himself praying one night, “Lord, I gave it my best. I tried to make it all work, but it was not to be.” And in that moment, God led him to the story of Abraham and Isaac. Just as Abraham was willing to be obedient, even to the point of sacrifice, God reminded Randy: “Son, I see your heart. You’ve been trying to fit in, but it just won’t fit. I don’t want you to be them, I just want you to be you.” That revelation closed a chapter Randy had been carrying for years, the chapter of people-pleasing, striving, and trying to fit in. He and his wife made the decision to finally let it go, and in doing so, Randy stepped into freedom, healing, and a whole new chapter of life. His journey has taken him from the United Nations, where he served in Jamaica (2013), Barbados (2014), and Hawaii (2016–2022), to years of humanitarian leadership working with Micronesian communities. Through implementing the Compact of Free Association—an initiative tied to the U.S.-UN territorial trusteeship agreements—Randy deepened his calling to advocate for underrepresented communities and foster cross-cultural understanding. Faith has always been central to Randy’s life. As the son of Bishop McKoy, presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic), he grew up immersed in ministry. From an early age, he served as a Youth Leader and Minister, inspiring and mentoring young people throughout the church organization. A seasoned traveler, Randy has explored more than 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. These global experiences have expanded his worldview and strengthened his commitment to leadership that bridges cultures, honors legacy, and empowers the next generation. From Fear to Fulfillment: When Alignment Wins with Marquay Baul Episode 28
Hey Purpose Finders, it’s your girl Charisa, and I am so excited to bring you today’s episode. You know that around here, we’re not just talking about purpose like it’s a buzzword, but we are actually digging into the real stories, real struggles, and real breakthroughs that remind us why we’re here. And trust me, today’s conversation is one you’re going to want to lean into. I got to sit down with someone who I met in the old days of university. He is honestly a walking, breathing example of what it looks like when purpose collides with everyday life. His name is Marquay Baul — and y’all, he’s not just talking about purpose, he is living it out in every sphere he touches. From his early days grinding it out in banking, to building his own private wealth management firm serving athletes and entertainers, to hearing God whisper to him that his assignment was to “influence the influencers,” this man’s story will stretch you, inspire you, and probably make you do some deep self-checks too. What I love about this episode is how down-to-earth it is. Marquay doesn’t just talk theory, he breaks down what purpose really looks like in everyday life. He shares how being out of alignment feels a lot like a car pulling off to the side and everything gets bumpier and harder than it should. He also gets real about battling imposter syndrome, even while working with celebrities, athletes, and leaders, and how redefining manhood, fatherhood, and legacy helped him quiet the fear and step boldly into his calling. And when alignment finally clicks? Whew, things don’t suddenly get perfect, but they do get a whole lot clearer, smoother, and more fulfilling. Life is full of distractions like divorce, social media, disappointments, changing seasons of life. And sometimes the noise feels so loud that it drowns out your sense of purpose. So the question is: how do you stay focused on what God really called you to do? My guest today, Pastor Richelle A. Lorde, knows this journey well. She’s a pastor, author, entrepreneur, and community-builder and a mother of four who has walked through grief, divorce, leadership challenges, and still continues to serve with strength and grace. She’s also the heart behind The Nehemiah Project, a powerful initiative providing housing and mentorship for young people aging out of foster care. In our conversation, Pas. Richelle shares how forgiveness can unlock your future, why staying connected to the right people is non-negotiable, and how she’s learned to balance personal pain with a public calling. She gets real about what it means to reassess your circle, let go when you need to, and keep saying “yes” to God even when the road is messy. Her story is such a reminder that purpose isn’t about being perfect; it’s about staying surrendered, connected, and willing to grow. If you’ve ever felt pulled in too many directions or tempted to give up, this episode will encourage you to take a breath, refocus, and remember what truly matters. Turning Setbacks into Legacy with Ernest Fenton - Episode 26
This week on The Purpose Finder Podcast, I sat down with Ernest Fenton—an attorney, entrepreneur, and author whose story really stayed with me. Ernest calls his late father his “secret weapon,” and after hearing their story, you’ll understand why. Within the same six months, Ernest lost both his father and his business. Yet it was the lessons his dad left him that gave him the courage to keep going. One moment in particular really struck me: when his father, who worked as a tree cutter, was told he might lose his contract with the city, he simply said, “Well, I’ll do something else.” That kind of quiet confidence shaped the way Ernest sees the world—and it’s a perspective we can all learn from. He also shares practical wisdom on protecting what matters most—our assets, our legacy, and our peace of mind. He makes it simple, relatable, and powerful, reminding us that building wealth isn’t just about money—it’s about leaving things in order for the people we love. This episode isn’t just about finding your purpose—it’s about holding onto it, protecting it, and trusting that even when life forces you to pivot, you’re never stuck. Ernest’s story reminded me that no matter what happens, there’s always another way forward. And it makes me want to ask you: When life has pushed you to start over, what gave you the courage to try again? Resilience, Purpose & Love with Shani McKoy - Episode 25
Family, this conversation had me smiling, tearing up, and nodding my head the whole way through. I had the joy of sitting down with Shani McKoy—a Jersey girl who thought she was headed for Hollywood, but God had bigger plans. Instead of scripts on a stage, He handed her the script of her life: to lead women into truth, resilience, and purpose. Shani opened up about the raw grief of losing her father just three months into ministry, and how that season forced her to cling to God in a deeper way. She shared how resilience is forged in adversity, what it means to live a life of daily obedience, and why success isn’t measured by applause or titles—but by faithfulness to God. And then… she shared her love story. Y’all, it’s the kind of story that makes you laugh, shake your head, and say, “Only God could write this.” From knowing her husband since she was 13, to missing every single sign, to finally realizing God had aligned them for something far greater than themselves—her testimony is a beautiful reminder that when you know your purpose, you can recognize who’s truly aligned with it. This episode will encourage you if you’ve ever questioned your calling, struggled with loss, or wondered if God really has a plan for your love life. Spoiler: He does. What started as a simple act of obedience has grown into a platform dedicated to teaching women God’s Word and helping them live a life that truly honors Him. Her heart is especially for single women, encouraging them to navigate singleness with purpose, rather than pressure. She emphasizes abstinence, self-worth, and spiritual growth, helping women understand that finding their purpose first is key before seeking a relationship. Shani believes that when she aligns with God’s plan rather than societal expectations, she positions herself for the life He truly desires for her. Through Shanispeaksup, Shani has been blessed to impact countless women, encouraging them in faithful living, obedience, and spiritual empowerment. It hasn’t always been easy, but she’s learned that true success isn’t about striving—it’s about surrendering to God’s will and trusting Him in every season. Now, Shani is focusing on Dreamscripted Podcast, a space where faith and purpose collide. This podcast is about helping people script the life God has written for them, rather than the one they’ve been pressured to create for themselves. Dreamscripted is about saying yes to God’s vision, even when it looks different from what she imagined. Through deep conversations and real-life testimonies, Shani wants to help others see that God’s script is always better than our own. Making Business a Ministry with Melody Winston - Episode 23
Let’s be honest—nobody volunteers for the difficult seasons: abrupt family losses, feeling the weight of legacy, rebuilding after heartbreak, or being pushed into roles before we feel ready. On this episode of the Purpose Finder podcast, I sit down with Melody Winston—executive director, entrepreneur, daughter of pioneering leaders, and a woman for whom faith and resiliency are daily practices, not just hashtags. Melody invites us into her real story, not just her résumé: moving cross-country in the shadow of her family’s achievements, grieving the sudden loss of her grandfather and uncle in a plane crash, and weathering a challenging divorce while raising four children. Melody doesn’t gloss over the hard parts—she shares what it meant to lean on faith when her mental strength faltered, the quiet courage of starting over, and the determination to serve her community even when she felt least qualified. What stands out most in our conversation isn’t just her perseverance, but the way she says ‘yes’ to stretching—to learning new things (like overseeing property management and launching a grocery store in a food desert) far outside her comfort zone. Melody’s lessons are clear: excellence isn’t about perfection, but consistency and believing in possibilities, even when you don't have all the answers yet. She brings home the message that legacy isn’t a burden—it's an invitation to serve, to uplift, and to lead by example, especially for those coming after us. In October 2021, Living Word Christian Center (founded by her father, Dr. Bill Winston) seized the opportunity to purchase a 71,000-square-foot grocery store in Forest Park, Illinois, after its former owner exited. The goal: to serve the community with access to fresh, high-quality food. Since its launch in June 2022, Living Fresh has become the largest Black-owned supermarket in the U.S., offering fresh produce, seafood, meat, and global products. Under Melody’s leadership, it has also become a launchpad for diverse vendors and significantly improved access to nutritious food in the area. Melody was born on a military base in North Carolina, daughter of Dr. Bill Winston and Carolyn Williams, and a descendant of Clarabelle Williams, who founded the first Black-owned medical clinic in the U.S. She began her career in real estate, later owning Golden Eagle Construction and managing commercial assets. Today, she is Executive Director of Corporate Property Assets and Director of Real Estate & Construction for Living Word Christian Center and its affiliated properties in Illinois and Alabama. In 2012, she co-founded Legacy Flight Academy, introducing youth from underrepresented communities to aviation. She also formerly served as VP of Golden Eagle Aviation, a firm specializing in jet charters and maintenance. Emotional Intelligence and the Pursuit of Purpose with Dr. Dharius Daniels - Episode 22
Living with purpose isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about learning to ask the right questions, follow the right voices, and trust the deeper work happening within. In this episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast, I sit down with bestselling author, coach, emotional intelligence strategist and pastor Dr. Dharius Daniels for a transformative and transparent conversation about identity, influence, and the journey toward a life of meaning and impact. We dive into the questions that shape us: Why am I here? How do I rise above where I came from? Can I really build a future that’s bigger than my past? Dr. Daniels opens up about his childhood in a small Mississippi town, and how his father helped him shift from focusing on physical limitations to cultivating spiritual vision—seeing with “the eyes of the heart.” Together, we explore the subtle ways we conform, the cost of settling for safety or “normal,” and how our personal agitation—the specific burdens that won’t let us go—can actually point us to the work we were made for. We further explore the connection between emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence and direct link to you calling. Dr. Daniels also shares candidly about navigating burnout, rebuilding from the inside out, and the emotional and spiritual maturity required not just to find your purpose, but to sustain it. We talk about the power of proximity, the role of healing, and why chasing your uniqueness is an act of faith. If you've ever felt the tension between who you are and who you're becoming, this conversation will speak to your soul—and remind you that purpose is less about striving and more about surrendering to the assignment only you can fulfill. From Mentee to Mentor: Legacy in Action with Kelly Fair - Episode 21
Some moments plant a seed so deep, they end up shaping not just a life—but a legacy. In this episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast, I sit down with the inspiring Kelly Fair—author, speaker, and founder of Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring Program. Over the past 15 years, Kelly’s vision has empowered more than 10,000 girls across Chicago, and her reach now extends globally to places like South Africa, Kenya, Chad, and Jamaica. Her story began with one pivotal experience: a “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” that cracked open a new world. That day, made possible by her father’s intention, became the spark that lit her lifelong mission—helping girls see themselves as leaders and equipping them to thrive. In our conversation, Kelly invites us into the behind-the-scenes of purpose. She talks about navigating seasons of self-doubt, being the “new kid,” and learning to lead before she felt fully ready. We explore how she found confidence not through credentials, but through community, mentorship, and a willingness to serve. And we challenge the lie that you need money, status, or degrees to make a difference—sometimes, all it takes is your yes. This episode is full of heart. It’s about resilience, the quiet strength of women who show up, and the power of legacy—built not in headlines, but in relationships. The Power of Gratitude and Purpose with Mr. Thank you, John Israel Episode 20
What does it really take to live out your purpose? Is simply knowing your “why” enough—or is it about those daily choices and subtle mindset shifts that shape your entire journey? In this episode, I’m sitting down with someone incredibly special to me—one of my personal coaches, John Israel, also known as “Mr. Thank You.” John isn’t just a successful business owner and keynote speaker; he’s on a mission to elevate the level of gratitude on the planet. But his path to purpose wasn’t always clear-cut. We dive into his unconventional journey—from feeling overwhelmed in a high-pressure sales job to launching a gifting agency, and ultimately discovering his deeper calling through the power of gratitude. John opens up about pivotal moments in his life, like how his father’s illness pushed him to grow up fast and sparked his entrepreneurial drive, and how committing to writing five handwritten thank you cards a day for an entire year completely transformed his life. We talk about what it really means to find the “gift” in life’s most difficult moments, how gratitude became his superpower, and how he’s built multiple income streams while staying aligned with his values. This conversation also gets into the importance of having the right mentors and coaches, the realities of making major life pivots (yes, including the financial ups and downs!), and the moments that shaped both of our growth journeys. You'll even hear the story of how John started writing thank you notes to airline pilots—and the surprising ripple effect of that simple gesture. This daily habit sparked a global movement, gaining significant media attention and inspiring organizations and individuals worldwide to embrace a culture of appreciation. John has since become a nationally acclaimed motivational speaker and corporate coach, featured by major media outlets such as ABC News, Fox News, and Good Morning America. He also has delivered keynote presentations and workshops for global brands like Square, ReMax, Fairway Mortgage, and various industry events, where he shares his transformative gratitude methodology . Called, Qualified, & Unapologetic: Ashley Kirkwood on Purpose That Pays - Episode 19
What if the very struggles that kept you up at night—the setbacks that threatened to break you—were actually the spark meant to launch you into a life richer and more purposeful than you ever imagined? Have you ever considered that the obstacles you’ve faced might be shaping you for something bigger, something uniquely yours? This week’s episode is a powerful reminder that our toughest journeys can become our greatest testimonies. Meet Ashley Kirkwood: entrepreneur, powerhouse speaker, and a mentor to women carving out lives of meaning, fulfillment, and significance. But beyond the accolades and multi-million dollar business, Ashley’s story is about so much more—it’s about the courage to acknowledge your scars and use them as stepping stones, not stumbling blocks. Ashley doesn’t shy away from sharing the real, unfiltered moments: the pain of feeling unseen as a child, the sting of bullying, and those chaotic seasons where ambition and burnout collided. She gets honest about the challenge of balancing business with being present for family and faith, and how leaning into those honest, sometimes uncomfortable, conversations changed everything. But this isn’t just a story of overcoming—it’s an open invitation. Ashley’s journey is living proof that our wounds and worries don’t disqualify us; they refine us. By letting go of perfection, choosing healing over hustling, and letting faith call the shots, she transformed fear into bold confidence and became a champion for other women to do the same. If you’ve ever wondered if the messy parts of your story could find a place in your purpose, Ashley’s words are here to encourage and empower you. All those late nights, disappointments, or detours—they can become the richest soil for growth if you let them. You’ll hear how setting boundaries, cultivating soul-level confidence, and believing you are worthy of your dreams can lift you—and those around you—even higher. As a renowned corporate attorney, she reached what many would call a peak – a $300k+ job. But she left it to go on her own. She began a virtual law firm, which quickly replaced and then surpassed her previous income. But along the way, she realized two things: she loved speaking and teaching, and she also had a real talent for scaling up a business. She perfected packaging and presenting professional services to corporations and other organizations, and started teaching others. Speak Your Way to Cash® was born. Ashley’s enthusiasm and success mindset are infectious, and her results have been well-documented. Most important to her, however, is how her teachings help, inspire, and empower others. Professionally, that’s what she lives for. Ashley has been recognized as a thought leader by FORBES, Crain's Chicago Business, Black Enterprise, The Chicago Tribune, and more. Ashley invites listeners to DM her the word "summit" on Instagram to receive a link to her next free event about selling services to corporations. Purpose, Perseverance, and Family Triumphs with Marc Thompson, Jr. - Episode 18
Get ready for an episode that will both move your heart and ignite your spirit on the Purpose Finder podcast! I’m beyond honored to share this conversation with my incredible brother and friend, Marc Thompson, Jr.—a man whose life stands as a moving testament to boldly walking in purpose, no matter what obstacles arise. Marc’s journey begins in a blended family in Queens, New York, where he was shaped by powerful mentors and pivotal moments—like a middle school teacher who unknowingly set him on his path toward a career in accounting. But as you’ll hear, Marc’s story is not just about professional milestones; it’s about resilience forged in the fire of loss, grief, and waiting. He opens up about enduring the devastating back-to-back losses of his father and baby brother within a mere hundred days, and the decade-long, faith-testing road he and his wife walked to become parents. The birth of his daughter Nia—whose name means “purpose”—is a powerful reminder of hope realized after long seasons of wondering. From being passed over for key promotions, to summoning the courage to leave corporate stability for entrepreneurship, Marc’s rise to owner/operator of a thriving Chick-Fil-A franchise in his own New York community is proof that purpose is discovered—and deepened—not on the mountaintops, but in the valleys. Marc shares the honest, hard-won wisdom that has carried him: why you can’t take setbacks personally, the importance of recognizing that tough seasons are never permanent, and how discovering, developing, and deploying your unique “dominion gift” leads you to true fulfillment and impact. Whether you’re feeling stuck, in search of meaning, in the middle of a storm, or just need to know your best days are still ahead, this episode is for you. You’ll walk away with practical encouragement, heartfelt stories, and a renewed reminder: you are not alone, your purpose matters, and breakthrough is possible. How to Live the Life of your Dreams with Dr. Denise Nicholson - Episode 15
I’ll be honest: none of us would pick the tough chapters life throws at us—being separated from family, losing loved ones way too soon, wrestling with depression, or, in Denise’s case, becoming a single mom at sixteen. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Denise Nicholson—nurse, author, publisher, and someone who knows first-hand how to turn pain into purpose. We don’t sugarcoat things in this conversation. Denise is real about what it felt like to be left behind, how she carried silent pain into everyday life, and why getting honest about your struggles can be the bravest thing you do. She shares how therapy, her community, and her faith helped her find her footing again—reminding us that healing is possible, even if it doesn’t come quickly or look perfect from the outside. This is more than just an inspiring story. Denise really walks us through the small but powerful choices that moved her from just getting by to truly dreaming again. She talks about making a plan for her future—even when she didn’t have it all figured out—and why she believes genuine growth starts with simple, everyday courage. Plus, she shares how she’s now empowering other women to share their stories and reclaim their voices through writing. If you’re feeling stuck in a difficult season, or just trying to figure out where to go next, I hope Denise’s story leaves you with this: your past is part of you, but it doesn’t have to hold you back. Living Beyond Safe to Unlock your Greatness with Jamal Vallair - Episode 14
What does it really look like to pursue your purpose—not just the highlight reel, but the raw, unfiltered journey that most people never see? In this episode, I sit down with mindset and peak performance coach Jamal Vallair for a powerful, courageous conversation about what it truly takes to move from living in survival mode to building a life filled with meaning and impact. We dig deep into the reasons so many of us end up settling for safety—how internalized beliefs, old fears, and the comfort of the familiar can trap us in the illusion that “good enough” is all we’re meant for. Together, we talk about what it requires to choose “exceptional” over “expected”—why it’s necessary to challenge limiting beliefs, stretch past your comfort zone, and give yourself permission to put what matters first. Jamal’s story is remarkable. He shares with honesty and vulnerability what it was like to survive a life-threatening illness as a baby and to navigate his formative years bouncing from place to place, with over twenty moves before adulthood. He opens up about family transitions, the absence of both his biological and stepfather at different points, and the struggle to find stability and belonging when life felt unpredictable. Those painful experiences, rather than defeating him, became the foundation for his incredible resilience and hunger for purpose. You’ll hear how Jamal’s years in the military shaped his sense of leadership and discipline, but also how real transformation began when he leaned into service and decided to dedicate his life to helping others break through their barriers. Through our honest, heartfelt conversation, we shine a light on the “invisible” parts of pursuing purpose—the uncelebrated effort, the setbacks, the doubt, and the crucial healing process that happens out of the spotlight. By sharing both our journeys, we hope to remind you: your story, your struggles, and your questions are not disqualifications—they’re invitations to unlock the purpose inside you. Uncovering Purpose Beyond Titles with H. E. Cheryl E. Bazard KC - Episode 13
The roles you’ve played, the strength you’ve shown, and the image you’ve upheld were never the full story. Your truest power doesn’t come from striving — it rises from surrender. In this soul-stirring episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast, we sit down with a woman who embodies power, poise, and purpose — Her Excellency Cheryl E. Bazard KC. As Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, Cheryl's résumé is impressive — but it’s her heart, her honesty, and her hard-won wisdom that truly shine. She opens up with raw vulnerability about the defining moments in her life — moments of triumph, loss, identity shifts, and deep faith. This isn’t just a conversation about titles or accolades; it’s about healing, surrender, and stepping into a purpose that’s bigger than you. In this deeply moving dialogue, Cheryl speaks candidly about the cost of being “the strong one,” about surviving loss after loss — including the passing of her mother, father, brother, and husband — and the courage it took to keep going. She shares how her faith was both tested and strengthened, and how she learned to let go of the need to control outcomes. Her story is one of obedience, resilience, and unshakable identity — not rooted in roles or achievements, but in who she is at her core. Whether you’re navigating your own grief, wrestling with identity, or trying to make sense of the path you’re on, this episode will meet you where you are. Cheryl reminds us that it’s okay to fall apart, that being whole isn’t the same as being perfect, and that our greatest strength often comes when we stop striving and start listening. She shares wisdom on leadership, womanhood, and what it means to carry your legacy forward with grace — even when the road is lonely. Building Resilience & Success with Vondale Singleton - Episode 12
What do you do when the place that raised you also tries to break you? How do you honor a parent's love, even when their choices caused deep pain? And is it really possible to rewrite a story that started in trauma? This episode is raw, redemptive, and real — a journey through brokenness, love, purpose, and healing. And trust me, you’re going to want to lean all the way in for this one. Today, I’m sitting down with someone whose story moved me in ways I wasn’t expecting — Vondale Singleton. When you meet Vondale, you meet someone who shouldn’t have made it — at least, not according to the statistics. He grew up on the South Side of Chicago, surrounded by trauma, violence, and addiction. As a little boy, he watched his father — bloodied from a gunshot wound — stumble through their apartment door. He saw guns and drugs hidden under the mattress. He lived the kind of childhood that could have broken him. But what you’ll hear today is not just a story of survival. It’s a story of preservation, purpose, and a father’s love — even when life was deeply broken. One of the most powerful moments in this conversation is when Vondale shares how his father, even in the chaos, pulled him close and said: "Son, don’t ever touch these guns or drugs. I’m only doing this to try to take care of you. I love you." That seed of love, planted in the middle of heartbreak, grew into something extraordinary. What I love about Vondale is how he carries both truth and grace — he doesn’t sugarcoat the pain, but he also refuses to dismiss the love that was there. Because of that, his story isn't just inspiring — it’s deeply healing. The Power of Choosing You with Elyse Archer - Episode 11
What if the version of success you’ve been chasing was never actually yours to begin with? That question hit me hard—and it’s exactly where we begin in this deeply personal, powerful episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast. I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Elyse Archer, the incredible coach, speaker, and founder of She Sells, for a conversation that felt more like a soul check than an interview. We talked about what it really means to wake up to your life, peel back the layers of expectation, and ask yourself the brave question: Is this even what I want? Elyse shares her story with such raw grace—especially when opening up about the end of her first marriage. She doesn’t speak from bitterness, but from a place of deep self-awareness. Listening to her describe how that season reflected an inner disconnect really made me reflect on my own life. She said something that stuck with me: “It’s not about the food. It’s not about the job. It’s your soul trying to tell you something.” Whew. That one line alone is worth hitting replay. We talk about how grief, anxiety, or even feeling stuck can actually be divine messages—clues that something in you is ready to heal, shift, or grow. What I loved most about our time together was how Elyse challenged the old story that women have to choose between success and presence. She’s a mom, a wife, a CEO—and yet she’s building her life and business from a place of softness, authenticity, and alignment. It’s not just about what she’s doing—it’s about who she’s becoming while she does it. And I think that’s the heart of this whole episode. If you’ve been hustling for a version of success that doesn’t actually feel like you, this is your permission slip to pause, reassess, and realign. Because the most powerful thing you can build isn’t just a career—it’s a life that feels like home. What happens when two lives, two callings, and two strong personalities come together in marriage—and in ministry? In this episode of The Purpose Finder Podcast, I sit down with Pastor David Winston, Executive Pastor of Living Word Christian Center and visionary leader of the Go Hard for Christ Youth Ministry. With a heart for developing leaders and equipping the next generation, Pastor David is also the son of Dr. Bill Winston—continuing a powerful legacy of faith while forging his own path with courage, clarity and authenticity. From the early years of youth ministry with his wife Nikki, to their current role as co-pastors of Living Word Forest Park, the Winstons’ story is one of intentional growth, mutual support, and unwavering purpose. This episode is a masterclass in becoming one—not just in marriage, but in mission. Break Free, Shift Your Mind & Rise with Garrain Jones - Episode 8
Sometimes, the greatest prisons aren’t the ones with walls and locked doors—they exist in our minds. The doubts we carry, the cycles we repeat, and the fears we let control us can quietly keep us stuck in survival mode, convincing us that change isn’t possible. Bankrupting Burial Plots: Living Purposefully with Dr. Vernita Glenn-White - Episode 7
Ever feel like life keeps knocking you down just when you’re trying to move forward? In this episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Vernita Glenn-White (Dr. V), a powerhouse educator, speaker, and mentor who knows exactly what it means to turn obstacles into opportunities. After being fired twice in one year, she could have let fear and self-doubt take over. Instead, she saw it as a wake-up call—a nudge to step into something greater. Now, she’s on a mission to help others break free from limitations and own their brilliance. If you’ve ever wondered whether your setbacks are actually setting you up for more, this episode is a must-listen. Dr. V gets raw and real about navigating self-doubt, grief, and the journey to rediscovering confidence. She shares how losing her mother rocked her foundation and how, for a long time, she tried to “think” her way through healing—only to realize that true growth requires heart work, not just head work. We talk about the power of faith, the lessons hidden in life’s toughest moments, and why setbacks aren’t stop signs—they’re just signals to shift. Her journey is proof that your struggles don’t define you—what you do next does. Now thriving in her purpose, Dr. V uses her teaching gift to inspire others to step boldly into their calling. Whether she’s guiding students to their true passions, mentoring professionals through career pivots, or helping people dream beyond their limits, her mission is clear: No one should leave this world with their potential buried inside them. Her motto? “Bankrupt the burial plots.” Because the world doesn’t need more untapped dreams—it needs you, living fully in your purpose. Get ready for a conversation filled with inspiration, truth, and the push you need to take your next big step! Outlasting the Season You’re In with Mayor Derrick Wood - Episode 6
Life is full of seasons—the tough ones, the uncertain ones, the ones that make you question everything. But no season lasts forever. If you’re feeling stuck, just hold on. Change is inevitable, but how do you move through it? That’s what shapes your story. And today’s guest knows all about embracing change and turning it into purpose. I’m Charisa Munroe Wilborn, and I’m so glad you’re here. In this episode, I sit down with Mayor Derrick Wood, a leader, entrepreneur, and visionary whose path to politics was anything but planned. He started in the military, built a thriving barbecue business, and had no intention of running for office—until life had other plans. When a cease and desist order shut down his barbecue business, Derrick showed up at a town council meeting simply to fight for his livelihood. But in that moment, something bigger happened—his voice carried weight. People saw leadership in him before he even saw it in himself. Encouraged to run for council, he took the leap. And lost. But here’s what changed everything: mentorship. With the right guidance, Derrick learned how to navigate the system, refine his message, and truly lead. The second time? He won. And just weeks later, my father, Dr. Myles Munroe, looked at him and boldly declared, “My son is going to be the next mayor.” At the time, Derrick wasn’t even sure if politics was his calling. But sometimes, the people around us see our potential long before we do. And that’s why mentorship and vision matter. Derrick knows how to overcome setbacks. He believes that you have to live your life on purpose and with purpose. He has experiences of having all he wanted, to having nothing at all and has endured. Now he is committed to sharing his advice as a speaker, coach, seminar leader and author to help other people overcome and to find purpose in life through life's storms. He has worked with schools, non-profits, and different clubs organizations sharing his passion to help them expose the greatness that has gotten trapped by the setbacks they are experiencing right now. Our 1st 60 days of Marriage: Purpose and Partnership - Episode 4
Hey Purpose Seekers! The curtains have been pulled back! Welcome back to another deeply special and heartfelt episode of the Purpose Finder Podcast! Today’s episode is unlike any other because I have the absolute honor of sitting down with my best friend, my partner in life, my love—my husband, Destry Wilborn. 💛 This conversation is real, unfiltered, and full of the lessons we’ve learned—sometimes the hard way—about love, purpose, and partnership. We’re peeling back the layers of what it truly means to walk in alignment with your calling while sharing life with someone who is also deeply committed to their own purpose. If you don’t already know Destry, let me introduce you—he is a dedicated detective of nearly 30 years, a mentor to young men, and a passionate advocate for purpose-driven living. He is the founder of Men of Purpose; Journey to Self-Discovery, an organization designed to teach, train, and inspire abandoned and at-risk young men to step into their full potential. His work not only impacts lives here in Chicago but also reaches as far as Burundi, Africa, where he’s established a mentoring program and even launched a school to transform young minds and futures. So when I say purpose and partnership, I mean it—because we both stepped into this marriage already fully immersed in the work we were called to do. But how do two strong-willed, purpose-driven individuals build a marriage that thrives, not just survives? How do we honor our personal callings while growing together in love? And what does it really take to create a marriage rooted in faith, trust, and shared vision? His experience on the front lines of one of the most dangerous, yet diverse cities in the country gave Destry Wilborn a veteran of the Chicago Police Department, serving for over 20 years. His frontline experiences in one of the country’s most complex cities exposed him to the deep impact of violence, igniting his journey to seek purpose. Through the Dr. Myles Munroe Mentorship Program, he found answers that shaped his passion for mentorship and empowerment. For nearly a decade, Destry has been active in youth ministry at New Life Covenant Church under Pastor John Hannah, leading the Boys 2 Men program. His dedication to transforming young men into strong, purpose-driven leaders led him to found Men of Purpose, Journey to Self-Discovery (MOP)—a mentorship initiative equipping men to become self-sufficient and mentor others in return. A former wrestling coach in Chicago Public Schools, Destry recognized early on that fatherlessness is a major issue in inner-city communities. He has since devoted his life to becoming a father figure to the fatherless, turning coaching into mentorship and mentorship into discipleship. Destry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sociology & Political Science from Lewis University and a Master’s in Public Safety Administration from Calumet College of St. Joseph. He is also trained in apologetics, having graduated from both Frank Turek’s Cross-Examined Instructor’s Academy (CIA) and RZIM’s Emerging Apologist Program (EAP). His mission?
