Episode 14 Steve
Welcome to Room 14 and Episode 14 of the Room 14 Podcast! How’s that for a bunch of 14’s! I truly never thought I would have even this many episodes with unique guests! I am so appreciative for today’s guest and all of my great guests! Thank you all for helping me to carry the message of recovery and happiness! Today we hear Steve’s story of expeince, strength and hope! Many of my relationships in recovery have been in AA. Many of those have been from meetings at our one and only club house in Lincoln, the Meeting Place. I met this episode guest in front of this Meeting Place and we talked for an extensive amount of time. He has since become a pillar in the AA community here and provides a great amount of service work. Once I reached out to him to chair a meeting for me that no one else would. I was lucky because he was there to greet the only other person that showed up, a newcomer. I am grateful for Steve and what recovery has done for him. Steve claims the following meeting as his home AA group. Early Birds (a popular meeting!) 8:15 a.m. in the Meeting Place (basement) 2748 S. Episode 12 Gregg
Welcome to Episode 12! Today we meet Gregg. Growing up in rural Nebraska gave him a lot of skills and free time to develop habits with drinking and drugs. Minor encounters with the law assisted him, as it does many to find help and his personal surrender. Gregg is a talented Jack of all trades and seemingly master of many. I have shared meeting time with him in the rooms of AA and enjoyed listening to the things he shares. Thank you for recording with me and sharing your experience, strength and hope! Like a few others on this podcast Gregg claims the Early Birds Meeting as his home AA group. They meet: Monday - Friday at 8:15 a.m. The Meeting Place 2748 S. Street Lincoln Nebraska THANK YOU to all of the people that have listened and are supporting me in this journey. Episode 11 Kirk
This Episode is dedicated to the life and family of Jack K. who left this world on Wednesday, November 8th. He gave so much during military service, his life and his 67 years of sobriety. Rest in Peace dear friend. Welcome, everyone, to another episode of the Room 14 Recovery Podcast and today we have a special guest joining us. I met Kirk at my home group and really liked him right from the start. Believe it or not that was just a few months ago. He discovered he could drink just one but his thoughts were always consumed with THE NEXT ONE. He quoted the old adage “One is too many and 100 is not enough.” I messed up in the worst way on the “Lighting Round” and ran out of recording! Thanks Kirk, for being such a great sport. I’m still learning and make LOTS of mistakes so I really appreciate your understanding. I love bringing these stories to you and helping these great people to share their experiences in addiction and recovery! Episode 9 Carrie G.
Welcome, everyone, to another episode of the Room 14 Recovery Podcast and today we have a special guest joining us. She's not only a close friend, but someone I've shared a unique bond with - a bond forged through our experiences with alcohol and the patterns of thinking that came with it. Despite our many differences, we've found strength in our shared journey towards recovery. Our guest is fellow member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Carrie confessed that she used alcohol as a way to deal with life. Spiritually sick and scared to death to be outed, she feared the “painful process” of recovery. The day she walked into the rooms of AA she found a “door of hope”. Please welcome Garrie G. I butchered the intro and Carrie was such a great sport in the LIGHTNING ROUND. Thanks for helping to show that "we aren’t a glum lot”. THANK YOU to all of the people that have listened and are supporting me in this journey. Episode 8 Craig R.
This episode we hear from a remarkable individual who wouldn't refer to himself as remarkable but played a pivotal role in my recovery journey. He's a wise elder, a mentor and he was the chair of a one of my first AA meetings that left an indelible mark on me. In my opinion his greatest attribute is his humble approach to his life in recovery. It meant a lot to me that he was willing to record with me. It is a great honor for me to introduce you to Craig R. THANK YOU to all of the people that have listened and are supporting me in this journey. Episode 7 Dennis S.
Dennis went from a sip of beer with his father to later in life an everyday scotch drinker. After an incident of rage, he decided it was time to look into help. Though this guest has been sober for 40 years and living mere blocks from me, we didn’t meet each other until I started a 6 a.m. AA meeting in Room 14. I checked the amount of plays we had while I was publishing this episode and I have 100 plays! THANK YOU to all of the people that have listened and are supporting me in this journey. This last week I was able to celebrate 11 years of continuous sobriety and Dennis presented me a 11-year chip and some very kind words. I’m so happy to know him and to have his story on this show.
