Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews on Self (Confidence): It took being Shameless to be Self(ish).

We know a thing or two about being risky (read: risque), our brand was built on it. And it was taking these risks with our tone of voice, marketing, and branding that led to success. We want to empower babes to step away from erring on the side of caution and feel confident taking a step toward their ambitions. For my last Self(ish) episode of the season, Michelle Andrews and Zara McDonald from Shameless Media talk to us about building an empire by leaning into risks, bolstering their strengths, and saying no far more than saying yes. To be frank, it’s time to back yourself. It’s peachy enough. Follow Shameless podcast on Spotify and @shamelesspodcast on Instagram. Lauren McDonough on Self (Harm): How to take powerful steps toward mental strength.

This episode comes with a content warning, we’ll be discussing suicide and self-harm and if this is not something that you’re able to consume right now, that’s absolutely fine. Take a listen to another podcast, or have a listen to one of our other Self(ish) episodes. If you or somebody you know is struggling at the moment, visit Beyond Blue’s Get Support page on their website which can connect you to a counsellor 24/7, as well as provide so many mental-health resources for every kind of situation. Lauren McDonough is a suicide survivor, mental health advocate, amputee, and model. At the age of 19, after battling years of debilitating mental health struggles, she threw herself in front of a Melbourne train in a suicide attempt that led to the loss of both of her legs and severe spinal injury. What followed was a period of painful physical and mental rebuilding and rigorous self-work to get to a better place. Determined to deter anybody else who may be struggling from reaching the place she found herself in, Lauren is a powerful mental heath speaker, disability advocate, and model. Emma Bates on Self (Worth): Ask our search engine like it's the group chat.

Emma Bates is a natural-born marketer and community builder. At the age of 19, she grew a blog to 100k+ readers before transitioning into the marketing industry, working with mammoth consumer brands in NYC and the UK. Before founding Diem, Emma was Head of Global Marketing at Away. And now, Diem is taking off all over the world as the first-of-its-kind social search engine for women and non-binary folk. Have you Googled something starting with "Is it normal..."? Candace and Emma spoke about why women seek answers within the context of their specific situation, the data bias and gender information gap within search engines, and why conversations will always be the primary information-sharing tool. Erin Deering on Self (Worth): Getting out of a love Triangl with yourself, martyrdom, and avoidance.

You can’t pour from an empty cup, but you can learn to ask for a refill. Erin Deering, ‘accidental’ Co-Founder of Triangl swimwear, has had a rocky relationship with her own self-worth — especially during the heights of business success. She also spoke with Jess and Bree about the stigma of getting help with parenting, and why admitting when you’re wrong can be the most freeing feeling. To be frank, self-worth is a muscle that needs to be stretched. And we’ve got plenty of hands. Ash Rucker on Self (Expression): Go and scream into your pillow.

Why should we lean into activities that foster self-expression? And what happens if we don't find release? We're even more Self(ish) this week as Candace speaks to Ash Rucker  —  Founder of TherapART. A nonprofit based in the US that exists to celebrate and drive positive conversation about art therapy. As a trained yoga instructor, meditation and movement educator, Ash has found self-expression through free-form movement as a way to heal. Through TherapART, Ash leads one-of-a-kind workshops in New York, Miami, Mexico, and virtually. To be frank, we're all trying on new hats (or wigs) to see what feels right. And that's how babes get closer to themselves. Follow Ash: @a_rucker Follow TherapART: @therapart_ Follow frank body on socials and subscribe to my emails: @frank_bod frankbody.com

Courtney Act on Self (Expression): "Normal" is merely a washing machine cycle.

We’re all walking self-billboards, does yours reflect you accurately? This week, Bree and Jess discuss self (expression) with Courtney Act — an internationally celebrated performer, singer, author, and drag queen. They dissect everything from having conversations with people you (strongly) disagree with, why video first dates trump IRL ones, and how self-doubt still creeps into her work. To be frank, we're all trying on new hats (or wigs) to see what feels right. And that's how babes get closer to themselves. We're even more Self(ish) this week. Across the pond, Candace spoke with Éva Goicochea; Founder, CEO & Creative Director of maude, a modern sexual wellness brand. They spoke about the journey of destigmatising sexual wellness and what’s involved in getting a brand like this off the ground. Because before you get dirty with anyone else, you should learn what makes you want to get dirty in the first place. Chantelle, psycho-sexologist and scientist, spoke intimately with Jess and Bree about ADHD, long-term relationships, open ones, and why faking orgasms isn’t always a bad thing. To be frank, let's turn you into your biggest turn-on. Linda Marigliano on Self (Identity): The cycle of people-pleasing.

How we define ourselves impacts how we live, how we behave, and how we think. It’s always been our mission to champion individuality, and by recognising our own beliefs in who we are at our core, we can cultivate confidence and a strong sense of self. In this Even More Self(ish) episode recorded in the States, our Head of Marketing Candace MacPherson gets on the mic to speak with Linda Marigliano — Author of Love Language, host of the award-winning Tough Love podcast, and renowned Australian DJ and media personality. Ruchi Page on Self (Identity): The problem with 50 shades of Vanilla-Beige foundation.

How we define ourselves impacts how we live, how we behave, and how we think. It’s always been our mission to champion individuality, and by recognising our own beliefs in who we are at our core, we can cultivate confidence and a strong sense of self. Beauty isn’t skin deep, and Ruchi Page is one of the most luminous examples we know. She spoke with Bree and Jess about the shades of inclusivity she’s noticed (and the ones that are still missing), not identifying with a certain age, and her adoption story. To be frank, we’re not about labels. We’re more into exploration. Brooke Blurton on Self (Awareness): Boundaries are for babes.

Understand thyself to better understand others. Reflecting on — and actively getting to know — our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours leads to clarity and a greater sense of self. Because awareness is the key to change. Whether she’s breaking down barriers or building up boundaries, Brooke Blurton is a force for good. She joined Jess and Bree this week on Self(ish) to talk about how self (awareness) plays a major role in turning 30, her childhood, and sexuality. To be frank, we all have layers. And with disadvantages already costing females more than their male counterparts, the buck has to stop here. To be frank, let’s get babes this bread. Instilling confidence through our words, our actions, and our products. But we want to channel that confidence into more. Because going after what you want isn’t inherent, it’s self-taught.
