Kylie Roberts and Mel Wombwell, of Shift Unlimited, dive deep into the significance of 'contracting' in establishing effective coaching relationships. Contracting is a verbal agreement between the coach and the client outlining the nature, terms and conditions of the coaching process. They explore areas included in a contract, such as confidentiality, ethical guidelines, client and coach roles, financial and logistical arrangements and, where applicable, the involvement of a sponsor. They emphasise the importance of being explicit about expectations from the start, which greatly contributes to the success of a coaching relationship.
