The night before Jesus was crucified, he celebrated the Passover dinner with his friends. No doubt replete with lamb and herbs, unleavened bread and wine, Jesus gave new meaning to each of the elements. This meal would never be the same. At that meal, he issued a "new commandment"... to LOVE one another. It is the summation of the law and the prophets and our invitation to this day. Lean back...and press in. There is a wild paradox in Jesus' invitation to come to him to rest and also to work out our salvation... What if it is in the resting that we are saved, forgiven and freed... and yet that act empowers us to WALK out our new life in Christ with Him, working it out together day by day. Salvation happens in a moment, but sanctification (the act of being formed into who we were designed to be) is incremental and ongoing. Can you imagine the day before heaven invaded earth? What might it have been like? JOY to the world... the Lord is come.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; and love your neighbor as yourself. Self-love precedes the love of neighbor. Only when we come into agreement with what God says about us can we truly love ourselves. May you have his eyes for you, and a glimpse of his heart for you today. Your identity is secure. The God of the universe says so. Will you believe him?

Love is the center of the story.

Immanuel is his name. The outcast, the outsider... God is with us.

Choose joy... Fix your mind on things above.

It is well with my soul... joy in friendship.

Joy in trial.

Joy is a transcendent result of trust and connection.

The soul felt its worth.

Joy.

Do not fear. Love has come.

Peace with God precedes the peace of God.

Do you see what I see?

When silence lasts longer than our hope holds, God still comes.

Advent in our lifetime.

The Prince of Peace.

PEACE.... is a person.

Embracing Hope.

Let every heart prepare Him room.

The Lord's hand is with you.
