[Strategy Spotlight] How and Why To Set Specific, Purposeful Revenue Goals with Tess Wicks
Money plus mindset equals financial success! We're chatting on the Fab Fempreneurs Podcast Show with wealth and mindset coach, Tess Wicks, about how and why to set specific, purposeful revenue goals. As a business owner, it is super important to know how much money you are making and where that money is going. Tess Wicks is a Wealth and Mindset Coach for Online Coaches and Service-Based Entrepreneurs. She's worked with individuals to help them master their cash flow for the past 4 years and fully understands the struggles and limitations of being a business owner and having the responsibility of both the business's finances and your own. What is considered a successful business owner has changed: you don't have to have a 6 figure business in order to be successful. Being clear on your numbers is the first step in financial success. Takeaways 1. Journal out your ideal day Become clear on what you want in your personal life and not letting vanity numbers guide you. Weave in all your needs (e.g., putting money away for taxes) into your money goals. Identify your personal expenses- which are necessary and which are "on pause" right now by monthly, semi-annual and annual needs list. A common example of something you can pause if you are struggling with money, or wanting to simplify, is as simple as canceling a TV subscription or any subscription that processes automatically that you may not even use. 2. Identify all the outflows in your business - annually! Identify your needs and what you want. For business, maybe you want to invest in content creation or hire an assistant. Create two purpose-driven goals for the needs and wants in your business. 3. Do the Easy Profit Math, to calculate your purpose-driven revenue goals, while accounting for the 4 Financial Elements of a Business (including profit!) How does it break down: your salary (what you pay yourself), business costs, profit and taxes. Where does the money go in order to have a business. What percentage of dollars you make are you going to put aside for taxes (talk to a CPA). Think 15%-20%, this a percentage of revenue not profit. Be proactive and set money aside. And if you have money left over, save it or splurge and go on a vacation! You also want to have money aside for an emergency fund or "rainy day account", not only for your personal expenses, but for your business. Have money as a backup to supplement your income if you are going through a hard time. 4. Use your purposeful revenue goal to inform your business decisions: pricing, launch strategy, etc. When pricing your services, think about your revenue goals. If you know how much you want to make, this is how much you should charge. Your pricing should go into how much it costs to run the product or service.

[Strategy Spotlight] Amplify Your Powerful Feminine Voice to Attract Your Next-Level Clients and Achieve Business Success
Rebecca Massoud knows how to speak, shine, and sell very well! Not only is she the founder of Speak, Shine, Sell, she is a wife, a mother and a yogi. Rebecca shares on the Fab Fempreneurs Podcast Show how to amplify your powerful feminine voice to attract your next-level clients and to achieve business success. Doesn't that sound fabulous? She created her business out of a secret desire to get out of the corporate world and jump (with a leap of faith!) into the entrepreneurial world. It takes courage to move forward with your passion and one of the best ways to get out there is to look for speaking opportunities (ie: workshops, conferences, etc.). Rebecca Massoud inspires thousands to share their brilliance on stage as a speaker coach, marketing mentor and creator of Speak Shine Sell. Her signature Speak, Shine, Sell 1-day workshop has been delivered more than 20 times. Women entrepreneurs hire Rebecca to help them double and triple their incomes with a high-converting signature talk that connects from the heart. Takeaways: Speak for free & speak often. Use every opportunity to practice your speaking. In this day in age, if you are a business owner, you have to be a speaker on some level. We are the face of our businesses. Live speaking and online speaking are great to get yourself out there. Knowing your signature talk is the first step. Once you have a talk you can use it in so many ways whether in-person or on a podcast. First you need to create a structure to your talk. It should be scalable from a 10 minute podcast to a full day workshop. Have a signature talk that you can use over & over again and one that includes the 5 key ingredients as described below. Opening: Have a strong opening. When you tell your story, you want to position yourself with credibility and vulnerability. Share your story: Share your success story with your audience, including the success you have created and your expertise. Don't downplay your expertise. All of your experiences are important to share and will show how far you have come and what led you to what you do. Content: This is your body of work. Create your talk by using the steps of what you've done. Your Offer: Your offer is your call to action. Don't over-deliver your content. Focus more on what is valuable by telling stories about your clients. Facts tell, the stories sell. Your Close: Wrap up your talk by summarizing the above and end on an energetic high note. 3. Share your story (or hero's journey) to create an emotional bond with your audience. 4. Your energy & presence are actually MORE IMPORTANT than the words you say. 5. Always include a call-to-action each time you speak; serve your audience by letting them know how they can take it further with you. Don't rush on your offer and don't let the fear creep in. Make sure you are prepared with your offer and to be able to offer that kind of offer at the place you are speaking at. Be prepared for questions and don't down play it. You want your audience to ask themselves, "is this a natural next step for what I just shared?" Make sure your offer correlates with what you talked about. What are your intentions with this group? Make sure all of the elements of your talk work with what you are offering. Rebecca Massoud, speaker coach and creator of Speak Shine Sell, will share at Fab Fempreneur Fest 2020 on how you can prosper from your powerful feminine voice in ways that are fun, easeful and profitable and also create soul-aligned connection with your audience. [Strategy Spotlight] Conquer Your Instagram Game: Engagement is Key with Melissa McClure
The Instagram Game is ever-changing, but the number one thing you can do is to conquer engagement! How do you engage on social media? Is it more than just posting a photo? It sure is. Instagram expert, Melissa McClure of Melissa McClure Coaching, shares with the Fab Fempreneurs community on how to uplevel your Instagram skills to create authentic relationships and gain more exposure. Melissa spent 15 years as a wedding and portrait photographer and uses her photo and social media skills to help women entrepreneurs put themselves in front of their brand. Although photography and being behind the camera is her first love, over the past year she has discovered that she loves being in front of the camera and has experienced growing more comfortable with her body confidence and self-image. She is launching a new program to help women entrepreneurs find their passion while being more comfortable and self-confident. Her best tip to get started on Instagram is to put your whole self out there: from your sweaty workout self to your sophisticated business self. Interact for more than 20 mins a day The more you interact on Instagram, the more Instagram will share your content. This does take time, so it is good to time block about 20 minutes a day to engage with other users and followers. The more time you allot to this, the more growth you will see on Instagram. Melissa suggests you interact for 10 minutes, then share your post, and then engage for another 10 minutes after. This will help boost your algorithmic exposure and will help make sure you respond to each comment on your post. Then go to their page and comment. This process helps build relationships, rapport and trust. One engagement SECRET to know is: Only comments with at least 4 words will count as a comment, and even sending a direct message (aka a DM!) counts as engagement according to the Instagram algorithm. Also, don't bombard other users for requests. It's about posting and engaging, which will help in building your online community. Follow Hashtags You can have up to 30 hashtags, but 11 hashtags are ideal and is all you need for engagement. The thing about hashtags is, you don't want to reuse the same ones over and over because you can get marked as spam (yikes!). On Melissa's phone, she has a note with 10 sets of hashtags she uses and she rotates them depending on the post. Just like the following accounts, you can follow hashtags, which is a good way to find new accounts and have them find you. Find out what hashtags work for you and your ideal client. Give your hashtags a niche. For example instead of #weddings try #outdoorweddings Join Giveaways Collaborate with other like -minded entrepreneurs and participate in Instagram giveaways. A fast way to get followers with these requirements: Have them follow all accounts, and comment and tag friends for more engagement. Melissa McClure will be a speaker at this year's Fab Fempreneur Fest 2020 and will be discussing more in-depth tips on how to attract the right followers on Instagram and turn them into paying clients. "[Featured Fempreneur] Becoming a Solo-Entrepreneur and 3 Ways to Revamp Your Brand with Jessica Cruz-Abalos"
Wife, mom, business owner, friend, the list goes on and on for how many roles we can play. When you become an entrepreneur, you take on a whole new brand identity. It is fun to create your brand identity, but where the heck do you start? On today's episode, we talk with Jessica Cruz-Abalos, founder of J.Cruz Designs, about the importance of visual branding and navigating life as a solo-entrepreneur. Jess is a web and graphic designer that specializes in visual branding. Her work and life philosophy is to create purposeful design for purpose driven people and small businesses. For 5 years she was a co-owner of a boutique branding company with her friend, who loved working with small businesses and women entrepreneurs. They decided to part ways (no hard feelings!) and to pursue bigger projects on their own. Being an entrepreneur does have its challenges, especially when you have a family: Jess experienced postpartum depression while she was discovering that she wanted to become a solo-entrepreneur. She was able to bounce back by finding new love for fitness that gave her self-confidence and awareness of the importance of self-care. Takeaways: 1. Don't just create a generalized persona for your target audience. Create 3 detailed personas! Include their name, age, education, lifestyle, occupation and hobbies. The more descriptive you are, the more you are able to understand their needs and pain points. 2. Establishing your brand personality is crucial. Not only will it drive what your visuals will look like, it will create authenticity and relatability among your target audience. What are the feelings or experiences you want your client to feel and how do you want to be perceived? 3. A huge tip when working with your web designer and graphic designer: Content Drives Design. It is like when you make a movie, but you don't have the script. The content is the foundation on which the design rests on. You can create a design with filler text, but you are only going to add more work onto yourself because things will still need to be rearranged and reorganized. It will be a disaster. So, you need to create the content FIRST. Jessica is one of the speakers for this year's Fab Fempreneur Fest 2020. Her round table talk will teach you how to discover your brand personality in more detail. To connect with her further, visit her website: http://jcruz.design/. [Strategy Spotlight] How to be Awesome: Confidence tips for Entrepreneurs with Kimberly Patek
The best way to show up in your community as a business owner or entrepreneur is to authentically be yourself. Confidence in one's self is key for success. Kimberly Patek, Founder of San Diego, Drama Kids shares on the Fab Fempreneurs Podcast Show , tips and tricks on how you can exude confidence as an entrepreneur, whether you are speaking on stage or at a networking event. She and her daughter created Drama Kids San Diego to equip students (ages 3-17) with life skills to overcome public speaking. As a women business owner herself, Kimberly applies what she teaches her students to the Fab Fempreneurs community. (Get ready to use your Oz voice!) #1. Be Proactive Versus Reactive. Keeping the big picture in mind and not getting caught up in the day to day activities. Looking ahead (i.e. 90 days) and working backwards on timelines helps foresee conflicts, busy times and resources needed. #2. Don't take things personally. Have a vision, always follow your intuition and know most people around you have GOOD intentions. Treat challenges with curiosity and take the time to come to a conclusion: a) was there something I could of done differently for a better outcome, b) is this challenge likely to reoccur (how much attention do I need to put into it) and c) is it my problem or perhaps something or someone just wasn't a good fit... move on. #3. Invest more in growing your business and yourself... invest less in "stuff" or business. Start with basic tools and add things as you need it. Sometimes we learn about better things (or discounts) as we grow our business. At first introductions...listen more to others and talk some but less about your business. Be a good listener when around your clients and fellow entrepreneurs.

[Strategy Spotlight] How to Promote Your Brand in the Media with Gigi Barnett
Everyone has a story, especially every business owner. Self-promotion can be scary but must be done in order to get your name and business out there. There is power in storytelling and sharing your story with the media. Gigi Barnett of Story Sell Your Brand, teaches entrepreneurs how to successfully pitch themselves to the media. Often business owners don't realize that they are capable of doing their own PR; Gigi shows them strategies to get seen and heard. In this episode, Gigi shares her tips on how to promote your brand with confidence. Step One -Plan your Purpose: Look at what I call the T&T (trends and timing) effect of your business. The best story ideas come from trends and timing (significant times of the year). What the business owner notices can also reveal where your industry is headed and editors/producers like predictions. Step Two - Put the "people angle" at the center of your pitch. Producers and editors want stories that directly affect their audience. If you can couch your pitch using words their audience wants to see and hear, it's golden. Step Three - Know who and what to pitch. This step can take 15-20 minutes a day. (Just build it into your calendar and do it!) Sit down and write out which platforms are best for your pitch. Where are the people you want to reach? (this isn't just about a producer's or editor's audience - it's about the audience you want to reach, too.) Get the names of those editors/producers. Sometimes this takes a quick call to the news desk (It's OK to do this.) Step Four - The follow-up! This is key. Many times editors and producers need a little nudging. While I was working in the media, it was perfectly OK to get phone calls from people in the community. Call them! Send follow up emails. Ask, 'When do you have availability on your show?' Step Five - Keep your contacts handy! I've worked with some clients who have been interviewed by reporters and anchors before; and, they tossed the reporter's business card later. Don't do that! Keep in contact with anyone and everyone you are linked to in the media. Producers, editors - and especially reporters -- like the "you-scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours" method of keeping in touch. If they're not interested in your pitch, some of them will tell you. This is a good time to reconnect over a cup of Joe; and, go over what they're looking for in a great pitch.

[Strategy Spotlight] Public Speaking Strategies for Communicating Leadership with Lisa Wentz
When preparing for a speech, entrepreneurs want to be seen as credible, knowledgeable, and influential. What you're sharing is something valuable your audience wants to learn about. In this episode, our Strategy Spotlight focus is Public Speaking Strategies for Communicating Leadership with author, Lisa Wenz. She has been coaching business professionals for over 10 years and founded the San Francisco Voice Center, which offers private coaching in public speaking and communication. Her background includes extensive study in psychology and ten years of professional training for acting training and live performance. She moved to London and earned a master's degree in Voice and Speech Studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. What inspired her to open the San Francisco Voice Center was her thesis on Voice and Speech in the courtroom. She felt like she could help people in a more significant way. That passion lead her to write her first book, Grace Under Pressure (April 2019, paperback, LID Publishing). Lisa shares on the Fab Fempreneur podcast key tips from her book to help entrepreneurs communicate their leadership in an effective and impactful way. In this episode: Tip 1: Healthy Speaker Mindset Come prepared and confident in going in knowing what you know, know you have something to share, what the value is and knowing that people are ready to hear what you have to say. Don't get into your own way; acknowledge your strengths and exude credibility. Tip 2: Prepare Physically Along with taking care of yourself mentally, taking care of yourself physically is as equally important. Learning breathing techniques to support your voice and articulating your words can make you feel centered and grounded to help convey leadership. Tip 3: Structure What You're Delivering Think about the purpose and reason of what you are speaking about. Begin by creating rapport with the audience. By structuring your delivery to match your content, you not only will help your audience stay engaged, but you will also stay focused throughout your approach. Bonus Tip for Speakers Teaching a Workshop Pace yourself; your job is to teach and make sure the participants get value in the workshop. Also, find a way to measure their success and stay positive. Staying positive and having participants share what they learned from the exercises helps with learning. Tip 4: Remember You are Having a Conversation Take time to pause and be in tune with the audience reactions. Ask yourself "are you present and in the moment?" Tip 5: The Power of Language Apply Key Content Words and their meaning into your speech. Content words in your speech are words that your are stressing and giving an emphasis too. Stress a word to give it life and a feeling. Take your time with your speech and give key content words value. That's what great motivational speakers do. They make us listen to them.
