The Plot Hoes

Samantha, a longtime reader and fan of fantasy and romance, recommends books to her cousin Megan who is just getting back into reading for fun. We've covered ACOTAR, Crescent City, and Throne of Glass to finish off the Maasverse before moving on to other series. Listen to join our little book club, yap about our favorite characters as if they're our personal friends and get out the cork boards and string to discuss our unhinged theories.

Quicksilver- We were just moving furniture

Book club is meeting to discuss Quicksilver by Callie Hart. We're breaking with tradition to read a book for the first time together. Megan is a new reader constantly fighting the urge to be a pretentious hater, and Samantha has been reading in this genre for years, and yet we can agree that we were hooked. Megan would like to request that you look at images of Elsa and metal power up Mario to understand some visuals. Coming in down to the wire before Brimstone's release, we are going on record with some of our theories: 1. Kingfisher isn't just Chaos' champion, they are related2. There's something significant about Zilvaren and a reason Madra and Carrion both ended up there- possibly related to the 7 cities buried by the dunes mentioned?Alt titles for this episode: Oop OMG there's a brooding fae, Even the pronunciation guide couldn't save us, Daddy TaddyIn honor of Kingfisher himself, we chose the next Plot Hoes book by flipping a coin- Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole (and the entire Kindred Curse Saga so far) and Brimstone are the next reads. Kingdom of Ash- I for sure thought that was going to work

Book club is meeting and this episode we are digging into Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas. Spoilers for the entire Throne of Glass series, ACOTAR, and Crescent City. Megan experiences the finale of the Throne of Glass series for the first time with Samantha, who just read it for her 4th time. This went in many directions that Megan did not see coming. There was one point where Megan had to threaten to throw hands with Samantha when they met up at the Ren Faire. We rate the cadre, rate the Maasverse series, and become severely unhinged in our theorizing (we no longer want the stars listening). Alt titles for this ep: Of all your plans Aelin that was my least favorite, I'd do it all again for Terrasen, Someone's more Chaol than Chaol, Lorcan would neverThe next books up for The Plot Hoes are Quicksilver by Callie Hart and then Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole. The Tandem Read- because 7 8 9

Book club is meeting and today we're digging into Empire of Storms AND Tower of Dawn in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. Read them together or separate but definitely finish both books before listening. Samantha has read the Throne of Glass series many times, however this was her first time doing the tandem read. This is Megan's first time reading the series. Thank you to the fans that came before us who have mapped out the tandem read, it was phenomenal. Samantha says Assassin's Blade can really be read wherever but is now sold on the tandem read. Aelin continues to be a spitfire, and Dorian continues to live up to Samantha's early promises to keep getting better and better. We love Lorcan's journey but have a PSA that this is a fantasy world and fixing red flag men shouldn't be the goal. Double the books, double the material to delusionally spiral into our Maasverse theories. Cats in libraries... we've seen that before. Blades are found, mountains hiding secrets, people of dawn are full of healing magic and they glow. Spoiler alert for Kingdom of Ash: people will dieWe're going to start diving into the Maasverse theories we've discussed here on socials so be sure to follow along @ThePlotHoes on TikTok and @The.PlotHoes on Instagram.Alt titles for this episode: Sure feathers, That's a looser thread, More of a dragon-like person than a bird person

Queen of Shadows- I blacked all of that out

Welcome back to The Plot Hoes podcast! We're digging into Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas in the Throne of Glass series. Spoilers for the series up to this book, references to ACOTAR and Crescent City, and skip the minute of 33-34 if you're still hoping to experience Game of Thrones without spoilers a decade later. Megan is reading this series for the first time, with the sage guidance of Samantha who is reading along for her 3rd (or 4th?) time. We clear up some confusion resulting from Megan remembering what she wants and blocking out all of the other "minor details." We talk about our love for the newly introduced characters, which includes Rowan with a haircut. We know that Samantha likes Lorcan, but that's not quite a spoiler about where he lands. We continue to love the characters that have been with us from the beginning. Dorian "I'll bleed whatever color you tell me to," does live up to the hype. Megan is very confused about how there are 3 very large books left in the series, when this one so perfectly sets up their happily ever afters. Next up is the Empire of Storms/ Tower of Dawn tandem read! If you're reading them individually as intended, be sure to finish both before listening to the next episode. Heir of Fire- Do you want to start anywhere normal?

Welcome back to The Plot Hoes podcast! In this episode, we're digging into Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas in the Throne of Glass Series.Spoilers for the series up to this book, and we also talk about ACOTAR and Crescent City characters. Samantha is reading this series for the 3rd (or 4th?) time along with Megan, who is reading it for the first time. We check in to see if we're on the same page regarding all of the characters and their journeys. We have a sad, sad boy who loves love, a smart cookie witch with beauty that could win her a king, and of course- how do we feel about Chaol? Since this series is the finale to the Maasverse for us, we LOVE misty places, caves with hidden swords, and worms. There are multiple books left in this series, but that is not going to stop Megan from comparing the Valg, the Asteri, and the Princes of Hel, and speculating wildly. Alternate titles for this episode: Look at us explaining away red flags, Sobbing through those details, There you go your theory's hingedHow were you picturing barrows? How are you pronouncing cadre, Manon, and Aedion? We would love to hear from you in the comments/ reviews, and join us on TikTok @ThePlotHoes and Instagram @The.PlotHoes

Crown of Midnight- Have you gotten to part 2 yet?

Welcome back to The Plot Hoes podcast! In this episode, we're digging into Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, in the Throne of Glass series. Spoilers: social media has ruined the primary relationship in this series & we make predictions that sometimes turn out to be lucky guesses. We also refer to ACOTAR and Crescent CityMegan reads Crown of Midnight for the first time and has a lot to dig into with Samantha, who is reading along for her 3rd (maybe 4th?) time? Samantha got us into this mess, it's the least she could do. We first have to talk about the SJM Instagram post. Then there are cryptic conversations with a ghost, Dorian has stuff manifesting, and I guess we'll talk about Chaol. By the way, Celaena was 8 when everything went down- Megan will never keep that straight. We have more notes for therapy, beginning with let's not keep secrets or lie by omission to those you love, and also let's just deal with our problems instead of trying to avoid them, and lastly let's all agree to take a pause before making any huge decisions. We stumble across our first TPH Unhinged Theories for the entire Maasverse, and there are some doozies, but hang with us. We're currently leaning toward a layerd cake situation, but it keeps changing as we keep reading. Alt titles for this ep: It looks like an arrow, Unexpected tears, Just a nightmare person, The who and the what and the howWhere do you stand on the Chaol mate vs fate debate? Throne of Glass- That's important, don't know why

Welcome to The Plot Hoes podcast! In this episode, we're digging into Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.SPOILERS: Megan guesses & Samantha confesses Celaena's true identify, Samantha gives us some warnings and reassurances about Chaol and Dorian's character, and spoilers for all of ACOTAR & Crescent CityBook club is meeting! We take a second to re-introduce ourselves and our history of nerding out together. We're so happy that you're joining us. Megan was concerned going into this- would she regret starting with The Assassin's Blade? Would it live up to the hype? She loved it but cried a lot. Samantha, who is reading the series for the 3rd (maybe 4th?) time around says that we'll be "destroyed," by the end of it. In true Plot Hoes fashion, we're going to speculate wildly while only being in the beginning of the series. Megan is also getting a really interesting perspective reading this series last, after ACOTAR and CC, so she is picking up on things that she knows must be important because they are repeated in the later series. Portals? Void? Stars? Salt? Alt titles: This is my moment, I'm not a scientist I don't know how to explain it, It's only 55 chaptersLet us know in the comments & on TikTok @ThePlotHoes or Instagram @The.PlotHoes if you were picking up anything that we're putting down, or any advice you'd give Megan reading this series for the first time

The Assassin's Blade- Stay Outta the Sewers

Hi all! Book club is starting the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. We are off to a controversial start beginning with The Assassin's Blade. Megan feels the weight of only getting one shot to read the ToG series for the first time and spends a lot of time rationalizing this decision. This is Samantha's third time through the series and reassures us that it's going to be amazing either way. The biggest argument seems to be that the emotional weight of this book is felt more if you really know Celaena and where she's at, but Megan doesn't need to amplify the emotional impact of a SJM book. Megan knows a handful of character names associated with this series and none of them are in this book. She has some guesses about Celaena and her backstory that may or may not be correct? If you are experiencing these books for the first time, just know that I'm going to be guessing at what happens, so read ahead some before listening if that's not something you're in to. We're going into this series with our unhinged takes on the Maasverse, so we're clocking constellations, misty places, gates, dead islands, and lands where magic has withered away. This book raises some questions that Megan hopes get answered as we read on, like are we finally done with Arobynn? How does Celaena recognize the king's footsteps and sword? Is the glass castle actually glass? What are those witches up to? PSA: Megan convinces Samantha to commit to the tandem read later in the series, so make your preparations now. Also, go ahead and use your nice soaps and share with a loved one. Alternate titles: I know all these words, Well shiiiiiiiiiiii, What the weird has in store, Oh I was crying at that pointWe definitely did not cover everything- let us know your favorite moments and questions you have for the rest of the series in the comments and join us on TikTok @ThePlotHoes and Instagram @The.PlotHoes

  9. 11

Crescent City- House of Flame and Shadow: My very second time

Book club is starting about CC3, House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J Maas. Let's dig in!Samantha admits that she was too harsh when judging this book when it first came out. We continue to speculate wildly about Illyrians and Azriel. We're also totally on Nesta's side, because why can't you zipline on shadows across rivers? We wonder if there's a connection between our favorite ACOTAR characters and the Asteri and/or Hel. We spiral a little on a truly unhinged thought about the connection between Midgard and Prythian. Our favorite morally green man turns out to be a little morally gray in the end, but we'll allow it. What we WON'T allow is anyone mentioning fire sprites around us without tissues nearby. Samantha gets Megan hyped to read the Throne of Glass series next. We talk about reading order and decided to start with Throne of Glass, but since we are such hoes for the plot, we had to throw in a plot twist and change our minds after recording and actually started with The Assassin's Blade. Alternate title: They're my funnest coupleWhat are your final thoughts for Crescent City? Did you pick up on anything that comes back up again in Throne of Glass? Let us know in the comments or on TikTok @ThePlotHoes or Instagram @The.PlotHoes

Crescent City- House of Sky and Breath: These are the things going through my head now that I'm not a passenger princess

Hello friends! Book club is meeting about CC2, House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J Maas. Let's dig in!This time, Samantha hops into the driver seat and comes with notes so we can overthink everything. In true Megan fashion, we're going to speculate wildly, while only being in the middle of the series. We spiral on leathery wings, names, and the possibilities of more Starborn or shadow-slingers. We appreciate the Crown Prince of the Valbaran fae for showing us that we can still fall for morally green characters. Mural, Merril, and Orrery are all relevant topics, but hard words for us. We end on a pitch for movies. Can we bring movies back yet?Alt titles for this ep: very quickly it got spicy, She woulda swamDid anything spark some wild theories for you? Crescent City- House of Earth and Blood: I'm really confused and concerned

We're back! This week, we're digging into the first book of the Cresent City series- House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. SPOILERS!The first couple hundred pages had Megan questioning whether she was too dumb to read this book. After adopting the mantra, "if it's important, I'm sure it will come up again," things started to pick up. We both really enjoyed going from A Court of Silver Flames into this series and see a lot of parallels between our favorite couples. Hunt won us over and never made us question him (except for when he DID). Megan wonders at the fact that it only took one series to go from being okay with morally gray love interests to straight up demons. We went far too long before we finally put some respect on Lehabah's name. Long live LeLe! We have veiled items. We have forced proximity. We have a slow slow burn but get to hear the mating bond song. We have a last 100 pages that had Megan saying "that ending was not what I thought was going to go down," which could really be SJM's tagline. Samantha said "I don't know, I don't remember," and Megan has learned that means to be prepared for more twists in the next books. Megan pictures the sailings to the Bone Quarter like the Undying Lands, and Samantha's reaction hints that might not age well. Megan also hears "praying mantis," anytime she reads "Umbra Mortis," so the helmet is just a silver praying mantis head. Highly recommend. Let us know when did you read CC and did you love it as much as we did? Drop a comment or find us on Instagram @The.PlotHoes or TikTok @ThePlotHoesAlternate title: Pour one out for Lele, Imagine being fae and having to go to a regular 9-5 and return text messages, Anyone disappointed to find out Ruhn was the brother

A Court of Silver Flames books 3&4: Don't under think it. Over think everything.

Megan talks about reading the last 2 parts of A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas with Samantha, her cousin/ bestie and a longtime fan re-reading the series along with her. Spoilers for the entire series, bonus chapters, and Internet fan theories. Top line reaction: WAY TO TAKE IT DOWN TO THE WIRE NESTA!We've got theories about high ladies. We're seeing numbers everywhere. We've got theories about the Daglan and their connection to the Night Court, which sealed the deal for Samantha that she's assigning Crescent City as Megan's next read (maybe you know what that's about). We outline our dream scenarios for the next ACOTAR book (spoiler: forced proximity IS involved). We dive into Wendy aka the House of Wind, and the nature of her relationship with Nesta. We cheer when Nesta finally interrupts some maladaptive patterns. We speculate about Azriel's love life and appreciate the bomb Solstice gifts that were exchanged. Alternative titles for this ep: She's a seer and a hearer/ Get it together brother/ She's really dark and scary on the inside/ Is that some foreshadowing/ What's the opposite of NamasteThe Plot Hoes will be back next with the Crescent City series. A Court of Silver Flames book 2: Wouldn't it be crazy if Lu-dawg was her dad?

In this episode, Megan chats about her first time reading A Court of Silver Flames, Book 2: Blade, by Sarah J Maas, with Samantha who is a longtime fan re-reading along. We were rooting for you Nesta! We were all rooting for you! This book took us on a journey ending at the wilderness camp for wayward youth. Despite everything, we remain Nesta sympathizers. Megan has a lot of questions and theories to share with Samantha halfway through this book. Samantha says that they are all good questions and "interesting theories," which likely means they're all wrong. You'll know if you've finished the book. We wonder the supernatural friend that Nesta has coming to her aid, and how to feel about Eris.Samantha has a Pegasus theory related to the Maas-verse as a whole. Megan thinks that Rhys is projecting some of his Amarantha trauma onto Nesta, and that Nesta is projecting some of her mommy issues onto Amren. The House of Wind, aka Wendy, is a real one.We both speculate wildly about Elain's deal and who Gwyn's father could be.Alternate tiles for this ep: Elegant but brutal/ Mother save you all, goodbye/ The beasty thing under there/ Protect by boo/ If you want cuddles, you're going to have to ask for them

A Court of Silver Flames book 1: You're a black cat, you need a golden retriever

It's the beginning of the end for the series that started it all for The Plot Hoes. Megan has read book 1, Novice, of A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas, Samantha's favorite book of the series (SPOILERS). This book really brings a lot of the feelings from A Court of Thorns and Roses full circle. Megan and Samantha both relate to Nesta, even if it's painful at times. While chatting out Elain theories, Samantha arrives at one in the moment that we both think could really be something. We dive into Nesta's communication patterns and offer her some things to add to her list for therapy.Megan knows that the clock is ticking and gives her hopes and dreams for books 2 and 3 of Silver Flames. Are they within the realm of possibility? You might know, but Megan does not!References are made to Parks and Rec, The Mandalorian, Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast. Alternate titles for this ep: 5 words for you, It's a good scared, She could take her garbage dress and leave, Say what you mean Nesta!

A Court of Frost and Starlight: I have a theory about the Bone Carver

Spoilers for A Court of Frost and Starlight and general vibes of A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas. Megan was feeling some Spring Court like allergies but HAD to talk with Samantha about her epiphany about Feyre and Rhysand's fates... and if she's right then she is not happy and has some serious demands for the future books as retribution. In possibly the biggest surprise yet, Megan, ever the hater, genuinely loves this book and has a lot she wants to talk about. We wonder what was in the box, what Ameren did to deserve even more jewels immediately, what the merry band of misfits are up to, and are totally over the pity parties. Samantha tells us that we need to humble up, and that we are going to need to get comfortable getting uncomfortable before diving into A Court of Silver Flames. Alternate titles for this ep: The bone carver F$%&*# me up, I'm not even ashamed anymore, The damn weavers of this universeObviously this episode also contains references to Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Star Wars Christmas Special, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Seven, and Marcy's PlaygroundWill Megan appreciate A Court of Silver Flames as much as Samantha? A Court of Wings and Ruin part 2: Fae Lord simulation theory

Spoilers: A Court of Wings and Ruin and some general vibes for A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. MaasSpoiler free references to Men in Black, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Never Ending StoryMegan discusses the second half of A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas with Samantha and tries to emotionally decompress. Megan tries to make Samantha guess the times she teared up before the final battle even started, and things get awkward because Samantha does not relate (but she's working on it). We asked who is your second favorite High Lord (and why is it Helion?), reminisce about our favorite moments, and attempt to wrap our minds around the void. We almost got intellectual for a second, but don't worry we reigned it in. Alternate titles for this ep: It was a lot of sobbing/ I read in American/ Snip Snip Chop Chop/ That's bound to mess you up a bit

A Court of Wings and Ruin part 1: Things are escalting very quickly

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas, part 1 of 2. Megan (never been a reader) is up through the end of chapter 31 when she meets up with Samantha (a long time reader), but let's just say spoilers for the entire book. Suddenly, the most boring place in the world, aka Spring Court, had some action. Samantha really goes out of her way to make Megan feel smart with her theories that are just basic reading comprehension skills. Sam does drop the bomb that not all of our questions will be answered by the end of this book, which was devastating news. Sam says some stuff will go down, but we're going to feel okay about it. We're going to choose to continue putting our faith in her, but you will have a couple things to add to your therapy list by the end of this episode. We have a better mic set up, but will we ever get the twinkle-twinkle-dong theme music? Will Megan be able to shield herself from spoilers over on BookTok while trying to make @ThePlotHoes happen? Stay tuned!Alternate titles for this ep: Us millennial women have made a comeback/ Cassian has saved the day quite a bit/ What's the opposite of toxic masculinity?

There you are, we've been looking for you. Spoilers for A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Megan immediately sped through ACOMAF after finishing ACOTAR and makes Sam help her deal with all of her emotions. So many feelings that Megan went hoarse by the end. In this episode, we pledge allegiance to our High Lord, even if his side kicks get a little Power Rangersy. Sam has read every romantasy series (multiple times). Megan can't remember the last time she's read for fun. Sam tells Megan that she'd like ACOTAR, and Megan isn't sure if that's an insult? Either way, she's newly obsessed and forces Sam to process all of her thoughts.
