Ep:39 Scott D. Hanson | Editor - BILLY PRESTON: THAT'S THE WAY GOD PLANNED IT

'BILLY PRESTON: THAT'S THE WAY GOD PLANNED IT' is genuinely a wonderful acheivement in documentary filmmaking. I had the chance to sit with Scott D. Hanson (Editor on the film) recently and get a deeper understanding of the creative process in bringing Billy's remarkable life to the screen so effectively.Emotional, honest, and complete with Ringo and Olivia Harrison contributing, this is a film that, from its opening moments, succeeds in creating an authentic portrait of a man, his music, his faith, his trials. Do not miss it.Enjoy getting to know Scott D. Hanson as we talk all things, Billy and Beatles.

    Ep:38 Charles F. Rosenay | A Life in Beatledom!

Charles F. Rosenay does not fit inside a single box, and his energy and passion for all he does is truly infectious. His love for The Beatles set him on path that opened up a world of opportunities and experiences that most of us could only dream of. He was at the forefront of Beatles Conventions and Festivals coordination in the 1970's within the U.S., the founder and driving force behind the now iconic 'Good Day Sunshine' fanzine, and author of 'The Book of Top 10 Beatles Lists'. Since 1983 he has been at the centre of the annual 'Magical History Tour', a curated Beatles journey through London and Liverpool. Across the years he has had moments with Paul, George, Ringo, Cynthia Lennon and Yoko. Charles is a singluar character in the world of Beatles fandom and I know you're going to love getting a peek into his world and his stories. Please remember to Rate, Comment and Subscribe, it all helps to spread 'The Word'.

Lend Me Your Ears. Sam Jobber's exceptional musical and vocal talents are on full display at his Instagram page (where I first discovered his work), link below. Ep:35 Jim Berkenstadt | The Rock And Roll Detective

'The Beatle Who Vanished' is one of the finest Beatles books to enter the world. It's author, Jim Berkenstadt, is my guest for Ep:35. Better known perhaps as The Rock And Roll Detective, Jim has served as consultant on projects such as Martin Scorsese's, 'George Harrison: Living In The Material World' and Peter Jackson's, 'Get Back', these being only a few of his impressive credits. A link below to Jim's world and output is worthy of your own investigation.Jimmie Nicol, the subject behind 'The Beatle Who Vanished', was, for a very brief window of time, the man behind the kit, filling in for Ringo as the band commenced its first world tour. He had remained something of a mystery, a footnote in the story of the Fab Four, that was until Jim Berkenstadt brought his story alive. This subject informs most of our conversation. You're going to enjoy getting to know Jim and discovering some of his wonderful work and insights. The Rock And Roll Detective:https://rockandrolldetective.com/

    Ep:33 Alex Lloyd

Alex Lloyd has delivered some of the most enduring songs in the history of Australian music.  Following the dissolution of the blues-rock infused band, MOTHER HUBBARD, in the late 1990’s, he returned to the scene with his stunning debut, BLACK THE SUN.  Certified 2x Platinum, it was the launchpad for a truly wonderful body of work showcasing an artist in a class all his own.  For me, this transition from band to solo artist, out of the gates with a mighty launch, just having to get these songs out, felt very George and ALL THINGS MUST PASS adjacent.  His strong sense of melodic structure, and instinctive craft for songwriting generally, has always felt Beatles inspired to my ears, so I reached out and Alex was gracious enough to spend a little time in conversation.  ECHOES OF HOME is his latest single at the time of this episode, while Alex hits the road with dates spread across Australia.  A link below to the upcoming calendar of performances throughout the country.  Link also to the music of Alex Lloyd on Spotify seen here.  Finally, a sincere thanks to Jo for bringing it all together.Australian Tour Dateshttps://linktr.ee/alxllyd Alex Lloyd – Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/1aVud1rCHS8xrpDjI7zEUy?si=MVlLoV52SJSjb18oNnP1VAMinor language warning in this episode.
