+++"Be Positive" with Shannon Marie and John +++
Shannon Marie Hilbert & I are happy to announce our line-up for the first two hours of tonight's Be Positive! blogtalk radio show! (Simply call 424-243-9540 between 9 pm & midnight Central to hear the show!) Rodney L Barnes will tell us his incredibly inspiring story, the role that faith has played in his recovery, what led him to write his well-received book, and the status of the screenplay that was due to start shooting! (On the Be Positive! show we operate under the assumption that nothing is impossible and that it ain't over until Shannon & I say it's over, and we want to see your movie!) Dr Curtis Kuhn will rivet us all by sharing just a fraction of the life he has led these 62 years! Death has been turned away downcast from his door empty-handed too many times for It to consider. For example, for years he was a private investigator in Las Vegas -- a PI, a gumshoe, Humphrey Bogart, basically an American icon -- a colorful city if ever there was one. His unique approach to healthy recoveries from many conditions will be our major topic of discussion. Be + & Tune in!!

Be Positive with Shannon Marie and John
Join us tonight from 9:00 to midnight Central time on the Be Positive show with me & Shannon Marie Hilbert as your hosts! See call-in number on picture. Joining us in the 1st hour will be TBI survivor & advocate Tracey Fauquier Truby who will share her brave story of recovering her brain & her life after a nasty car crash about 6 years ago involving the violent intrusion of a deer through her windshield. She has big plans for paying it forward to the brain-injury community in the new year, and she's going to tell us all about it! Next up we will play an interview we recorded earlier today with the inimitable Robert Brazzale who will talk with us about lessons he has learned along the way after fighting his way through a number of potentially devastating & fatal conditions. He & his wife Jaye Brazzale are very active in creating & leading support groups & mentoring programs in NJ. Shannon will be interviewing someone who has some interesting perspectives to share on advocacy, and then we complete the final hour with the always informative & insighful Robert Lee who will summarize highlights of this past year, and some treatments for TBI that we can look forward to in 2017! We will also be featuring Angie Schulke whose passion runs deep as a victim advocate in the legal world. Join us, and we will give you all kinds of reasons to feel hopeful as each of us prepared to step into our Destinies, without fear ... and full of optimism! Be sure you have a safe New Years Eve!!! The Matt Duffin Show - "So This Is Christmas..."
Christmas Day. I hope yours was gifting, recieving and loving. And if you sat alone, there isn't any thing wrong with getting yourself a treasure. Maybe you forgot about buying it, and Santa DID bring it! Misunderstandings, TBI folks and misunderstandings. Focus turns to frustrations, which turns into anger. Then we forget what we are mad about, just know we are mad. Can't explain why, or even try - just mad. Also, we laugh, we cry, we're human beings, for pete's sake. And not every human has PBA. Unless, of course, you are a Professional Bowler Association member (laugh! it's Sunday). Then again, not every human has survived a TBI. Why cry, laugh, avoid or ignore? Brain Lobe crossings. No big word, just simple science. PART OF YOUR BRAIN IS DEAD, gone, never to return. Let's recover, let's be aware of brain injury. Build neurons back in a proper and correct way. Is it hard? OMG - I thought you've met me before! Ho! Ho! Ho! (424) 243-9540. Call, chat, request Christmas ROCK. 10 pm Eastern to, oh, 1 a.m, maybe 2...

"Mess With M.S." The Holiday Party with host and illuminous guests!
During the holiday season many people with MS, Brain Injury, TBI, Autoimmune diseases, depression, addictions, and mental disorders feel alone. They can feel hopeless, scared, unsure of how they got to that point in their lives or where they are going from there. I want to have this broadcast of, "Mess With M.S.," to be a Holiday Party for anyone who is feeling disinfranchised this Holiday Season. Let us talk about what we most love, like and dislike about the Holidays in the Past and Present. Let's Talk! Those that are to come, and why! PERHAPS we should focus both on living in the moment (while) dreaming about what can positively happen in the future! That is right! The Holiday Season is a MAGICAL time of year and I said that you should give yourself permission to be POSITIVE! Tonight I will be explaining the roots of the holidays we celebrate, talking to anyone who cares to call in, speaking of my best and worst holiday's, sharing tips and tricks from others, AND since I have fully accepted being sick and realizing what the confines of my life within being sick are....I have changed the expectations of myself. But, there is still SO MUCH that I can do as a “sick person,” and that involves reaching out to others in my community. The #sickkid community. We are people who live on the edges, in some ways. This includes on the HOLIDAYS. When I was a little girl, there was nothing greater for me than this time of year. Do I still feel that way? Do any of us still feel that way? I would love the focus to be on our community and how it needs such Holiday Tidings! Giving gives YOU the most and most often doesn't cost a dime. Let's Celebrate our Uniqueness!

What the Hell? Wake Up America!
Host Craig Sicilia will be discussing the impact of the continued whining about the results of the election. As Americans, we can disagree .. But the results of the election call for us to fall in and hope for a smooth transition. We need to support our new President and his staffers, and accept reality without projecting negative things that may never come to fruition. We ALL want "A Better America" .. To build on the good, and refine the not so good. In that we are United. The division comes in what the best way to get that job done is. Somewhere we have to meet in between. Electoral College members began casting their ballets in state capitals across the nation today, results expected by the time this show airs. Trump was still leading without threat of change in the late afternoon.

The Matt Duffin Show - Is it Winter, yet?
Sing it with me Jennifer, "Merry Christmas - Ho Ho Ho!" Before the Russians kick me off the air waves, on my 'wish list' is a Hacky-Sak and a good leg. Does, anyone have a sack they can hack into? This tremendously UGLY election is over, yes. That won't unite a Nation. What's forward? Any agenda for Brain Injury Survivors on the slate? How about a Ball at the inaugural - anything set up for the mentally disabled? No reports at this time. The reason's our community has been (almost) totally against a Trump presidency is founded on just that - he's no president. A tax-avoiding liar who makes fun of handicapped people, for starters. Except his son, the Trump family tries try to keep him hidden. NOT a GOOD insight to our futures, is it? I am NOT WISHY-WASHY on this subject, as many have relayed to me, BIRN hosts swing back and forth. HEY! It's hard to make up a BI mind, given choices. So callers, please don't make them sway! I do not care for the situation, and it's not who's been choosen as President-neglect, opps, President-SELECT as much the fact I am gravely concerned about the future of TBI Study, Recovery and Coping, Social and Couples Ability. Grants for humanity, not grants to go into China. We, as a society make NO MONEY TO CONTRIBUTE to the American efforts. Most pay as much tax as The Don. Can't win an election on SSDI income. I know, it will take some time for recovery, though we want it now, it won't happen that way. Baby Steps. We learn, relearn, fail, do so with undertanding that we will fail again while we learn again. You have 'that sight', that 'look' as if from another world; because you are. Navidah, y'all.

Another Fork in the Road - Survivor/Artist Freya Perry
Is your home safe? We like to think ours is. Most folks do feel safe in their own homes. It's familiar and they don't expect anything bad to happen, but do you know that according to WebMD tens of thousands of folks die from injuries sustained in their own homes. Another seven million are left with injuries that leave them disabled. Falls are the biggest culprit of death and injury followed by poisonings, fire, suffocation, and drowning. Tonight’s guest, Freya Perry, will talk about how her life changed, in her own home, when a sculpture fell out of the sky – hitting her on the head. Well, it didn’t really fall out of the sky, but it did topple off a high kitchen shelf and it did land on her head causing her brain injury, which has altered her life tremendously. Tune in to find out how she has reinvented her life through art. Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Life is all about choices! To learn more about me, please visit my blogs. Surviving Traumatic Brain Injury Blog: survivingtraumaticbraininjury.com Donna's Blog: donnaodonnellfigurski.wordpress.com

So tonight let’s talk about holiday safety and injury prevention!

The Matt Duffin Show - Snow, Santa & STRESS
Jeffifer Goodman is staying with me as Co-host; so far. Tonight we wish to discuss the Holiday Season - Ho Ho Ho! and all the STRESSORS associated with it. The moods, the mood swings, the laughter, the tears, the grins and growls. Then, us with a TBI get to be included too! "Wait until we trim THAT tree. Got the tree, just waiting to trim it. Where? With what? With who? Oh - ARE THEY coming over too?" Never ending stress Christmas brings many TBI survivors. So regardless, my fellow survivors, that if wrong present was bought or given, the wrong size selected, the wrong person is around or a wrong time seems appropriate for The Season this season - cool down (inside, not outside) in a calm manner, and be ever so pleased you can be involved with the seasonal process. You have a brain injury. Possibly traumatic. Squeezed, poked, pop or stroke - you have a brain injury. Relax and take it all in. Folks this time of the year are WAY to busy to be concerned of you, again. Except me, and I know Jennifer isn't either. (424) 243-9540 or Skype TMDS from the Set. Or, I just may drop by anyway if you are online FB.. Call and talk, discuss, share, care to share. Us? She's coming prepared for the show, I'm coming to Rock Christmas!

Transitioning with Lisa Dryer - Brain Injury Communication w/Host Michael Idell
Transitioning into the community after a brain injury has enough personal bouts of their own with physical and/or neurological impairments. Getting assistance is very dificult where we can go, who to talk to, and finding people who understand. Family and friends many times don't have the patience. Government offices don't have much to offer to people with cognitive disabilities. State brain injury centers have a limited amount of resources to offer or don't communicate well with many individuals. Lisa Dryer and Michael Idell have both lived in different parts of the country since having their brain injuries. They have found a number of people in their support groups nationally who have had all of these problems and more. They advocate for change and would like to get the word out to medical professionals by survivors, caregivers and the public who are knowledgable with the disabled community. Please join us and speak together in a positive, uplifting atmosphere to share and tell our stories. We are alive and have accomplished so much. Let's start educating the public that we do exist and to keep an open mind this could be anyone we know at any given moment.

How Do I Move Forward? Brain Injury Communication with Host Michael Idell
Life is not falling to pieces unless we let things get the best of us.Those of us who do not see the positive side of situations, need motivation and friends to pick each other up in this community. We must stand together! Drugs don't fix anything but create a temporary fix. A pharmaceutical "bandaids" are only temporary but can lead to a permanent problem. Chemical dependencies, prescriptions, and doctors pharmaceutical coping strategies do not permanently fix problems we encounter. Coping strategies within groups and individual counseling services help individuals work past dilemmas. This weeks show is going to address how far we have come, where we have been and paying attemntion to the accomplishments we made to get there, not cry in our sorrows but rejoice what we do have.

We Deserve Better with Dorrin Rosenfeld
Vincent Pampanin lives by the motto of "If they can do it, I can do it too." He models optimism, self-awareness, and love for his job. He exudes an air of a successful business man excited to be alive. Upon meeting him, you don't even notice neither of his arms/hands work normally. (I certainly didn't...) He makes such good use of his working parts, it's often not obvious that certain anatomical features are non-functional. After his traumatic accident in 2013, which effected his brain and physical body, he got back up on his feet again with a successful business. Vincent is the guy to call when your computer breaks down and you have no idea why. He has been interested in computers since he was a small child and he didn't let a serious motorcycle accident deter him. Immediately after his accident, he was very depressed, but he found effective alternative ways to do things and now goes 100 mph. He is 29, and has learned and incorporated many life lessons into his business. He had to take stock of what he could and could not do, and if it was in the latter category, he searched for a tool or a device to allow him to do it. One of the truly remarkable things about him is that he still avidly rides a motorcycle.

Being Radically Real - The Empowerment Zone with LesPaul Morgan
Being a survivor of multiple Brain Injuries and aneurisms and several radical Brain Surgeries I used to feel like my life had no meaning, purpose, hope, or chance of living a bold and empowered life again but I am here to tell you that everyone including myself was wrong!!! You can do all of this and much, much more if you stop doubting yourself and start believing in the real transformation of I Can’t INTO I CAN!!! Stop waiting for a hero and become the hero you have been waiting for for all of your life! I used to say disability can kick your ass but in reality it’s really up to us us the survivors doing that not the disability and in fact if we as a people don’t stand up and start fighting for our rights in reality it will be we the people with disabilities who didn’t dare to reach out and catch our drams and goals of inclusion for all that failed so I am here tonight say be strong , be brave, be bold and never give up and you will be on your way to starting a whole new life!!!! Topics, 1. Searching without restriction’s 2. To thine own self be true 3. I have a disability- So what- Now start Living again 4. Being Radically Real about myself 5. Getting nay Sayers out of my life 6. A Community of survivors 7. Disability agencies 8. A bold me taking back control 9. A future full of hope and greatness awaits you! 10. Lively talk, Chat, and commentary and call in as well at 1-424-243-9540 and press the number #1 if you would like to speak.

The Matt Duffin Show - Happy, Joyful, Merry & Chipper Holiday's...
The freedom of America, means the coping with the freedoms of Holiday's. Mid-week, long weekend, week off, just drag me where you need me to be. And the people, don't it make you feel like you are supposed to smile and wave? And the PEOPLE, the caring but not so understanding PEOPLE you find yourself around. I know, it's tough. Baby step practice makes ya miss your chair. Just rather not get involved. Now, some I'm told want to be center stage. See, us with TBI are MUCH like our 'normals', even smarter during holiday gatherings. As much as I love to talk, around others, I quiet down, afraid to step on another's conversation, or look "stupid". The drawback of being social. It's just an unpracticed lesson and gap. Let's work on it. 424 243-9540 If you can catch me between my Christmas songs with Bing and the Boys.

Mess With M.S., Susan Plummer :-)
This is about how M.S. changed my life and my guests. I was born a premmie. Shortly after my birth, I had a cardiac arrest, which led to my brain injury. This incident gave me a life of learning disabilities and health complications. When I turned 32-years old, I was diagnosed with M.S. M.S. is the most debilitating neurological disease. When I was diagnosed with it, it changed my life. I continued to approach life as I always had: as a survivor! That does not imply that I do not make mistakes along the way. All people do . . . when the road they are taking turns into a new one. Through friendship, family, spirituality, and the many M.S. role models I have, I am beating back the monster of this disease. Jake Overstreet - Your Life in your Hands - Dream Catchers LesPaul Morgan
Jake Overeet Noticed the gun had been sitting beside him this whole time still moving around, I had shifted weight on the bed accidently making the gun fall off the bed. I tried to catch it before it hit the ground but too late the gun had landed on the ground and landed on its hammer and fired a round off into my head. Things we will talk about: What life was like before my accident and what changed when it happened, religious life, What are my long term goals, words of inspiration for those with brain injuries, and how my accident impacted my life. Summary of accident: I was cleaning a revolver and once I was finished, I had it sitting beside me to put it away for later after loading it back up because I got caught up into a program on TV. I was laying on the bed and I shifted positions I was sitting on the end of my bed at this point) and the gun happened to be sitting at the edge too and I had forgotten about it. After sitting in the same position for about thirty minutes or so I decided to change positions. I moved and I noticed the gun had been sitting beside me this whole time still moving around, I had shifted weight on the bed accidently making the gun fall off the bed. I tried to catch it before it hit the ground but too late the gun had landed on the ground and landed on its hammer and fired a round off into my head. Things we could talk about: How life was before my accident and what changed when it happened- religious life - and long term goals- words of inspiration for those with brain injuries- how my accident impacted my life

WORLD GONE CRAZY - WITH CRAIG SICILIA (THANKFULNESS)
A WORLD GONE CRAZY – WITH CRAIG SICILIA Weather we want it to or not everything changed in a flash for most of us. But on the realm of things the world has changed, I don’t know if I have been to brain damaged or self-loathing, but the last 10 years things are happening on a epic rate. The last 100 years more so than all the past years combined. So what is going on, are we cursing to the end or oblivion, Our brain injuries took us out of the time line or story board of the world and if you pay attention you’ll see things and notice things that we didn’t see before. You’ll understand or sympathize with all around you. You’ll take stands that you might not have taken before. You either become a kinder gentler understanding person. Or it does seem we become evil and cold killers. I think it can go either way. Let’s explore the world since your brain injury things you notice well and bad and how you’re different in this world on auto piolet. What happened when you got out of the ship, everyone think you lost it, yep same here, but guess what my there is we already lost it and reality took us in for a new view, a new hope an new world. Maybe we are the last chance for a world gone crazy. Where the evil grows and the meek try to stay out of the way. Greed, power, money, lust all control people. Tonight’s main question what controls you now and in before and what controls those around you. THANKSGIVING MAYBE WE TRULY HAVE MORE TO BE THANKFUL THAN ANYONE REALIZES

The Matt Duffin Show - My Recent Brain Injury Conference Notes...
Good plans, bad afternoon. I fell into what once was a floor chair at Market Square Arena, now it's Studio seating. I just fell out of no where; been doing that a lot. I'm hoping to go over some updated information of both the Indiana and Illinios Brain Injury Associations, and our trip to Chicago for the BIG CONFERENCE. I got to stop bleeding first, probably nap so if one of the other hosts wanna get this going, I will be back... This has been a bitch. Double bitch. Be strong, fight it, fight yourself too. Survive. There are good decision's in bad choices - make 'em...

Another Fork in the Road: Survivor & Freeskier, Jamie Crane-Mauzy
Survivor & Freeskier, Jamie Crane-Mauzy was doing what she loved best - skiing the World Skiing Invitational/AFP World Tour Finals in Whistler, B.C, when she had an accident that changed her life. Jamie will talk about her life as a professional freeskier, how her life changed instantly because of an accident causing her brain injury, and how she is adjusting to her new life and helping others.

Because of this I get to see and hear a lot of the latest disability news and as an advocate get to see and be involved first hand in the Americans with disabilities movement. Join me LesPaul Morgan tonight on Dream Catchers. (Special note Due to the large wild fires in the USA effecting the air quality in my area I may have to do a shorter show. It all depends on the constantly changing winds and how it effects my vocal cords)

The Matt Duffin Show - Late; but let's Rock & Talk Coping Skills
(424) 243-9540 and say Hi Matt, or Trump Won Matt, or "How do I get out of this corner I sit in, every day Matt." We can talk Stuttering, Wobbeling, Hobbeling and all issues caused by Brain Injury, even to the core the brain. People don't live with shots directly an totaly through the middle - I did; twice. No reason, no medical theory - as my Trauma Surgeon said "sometimes even I can see God's work. I did all that could be done, by your brothers and sister's choice, I had to pull your plug and then by God, you looked at me, real smug. It got more and more miraculous from there....once you decided to wake up. Oh the wait. You're a stubbern man Matt Duffin." No, just determined. With a Goal. My Goal. God's Goal. Dori Call, then Joni Goins began the path to that goal, after of course I agreed with God's suggustion. It was either that, or turn over, go to back to sleep and do it with a memory of my daughter and father in tears. Nope. What is your goal, your personal reach in which you have became so determined, work so much towards that your TBI takes second fiddle? Uh, sometimes it is a mistake - we drive too much and in my case; fall down and go boom. A lot. Welcome to the Super Moon days, and the last days of a Presidency that we understand...
