027: Defined vs Open Mind (Ajna) Centers
In today’s episode, we continue with Human Design centers by diving into the Mind Center, also known as the Ajna. This is where your thoughts take shape, where beliefs are formed, and where your brain works overtime trying to make sense of everything coming in from the world around you.And here’s the twist that most people don’t expect. Your mind is not here to make your decisions. We break down how this center works in real life, and why so many of us have been conditioned to rely on the very thing that keeps us stuck in loops, overthinking, and second guessing. If you have a defined mind, your way of thinking is consistent and reliable. You likely form opinions quickly, see things clearly, and feel confident in your perspective. You might be the one people turn to for clarity or direction. But the shadow side shows up as rigidity, needing to be right, or mentally spinning through decisions trying to logic your way to certainty. The mind keeps going, circling, analyzing, and convincing you it has the answer. If you have an undefined mind, your experience is much more fluid. You can see multiple perspectives, adapt your thinking easily, and stay open to different ideas. But this can also feel confusing when you start questioning yourself. You might feel pressure to sound certain, take on other people’s opinions, or struggle to land on what is actually true for you. What looks like inconsistency is often just openness and depth. This episode brings a grounded and honest look at both sides, showing how each carries its own gifts and challenges. It also highlights how this center shows up in relationships, especially when different thinking styles collide and create tension or misunderstanding.10 Minute Human Design & Mindset Starter Kit:https://kellyanneappleton.myflodesk.com/starterkitDiscover your Human Design: https://humandesignblueprint.com/Connect with Kelly-Anne:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/appletonkellyanne/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kellyanne.appletonConnect with Jacqueline:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jacqueline_sch

026: Defined vs Open Head Centers
In today’s episode, we dive into the Head Center, the very top of your Human Design chart and the place where inspiration, questions, and mental pressure begin. This is where ideas drop in, where curiosity lives, and where that relentless urge to “figure it all out” can take over if you let it.We break down what it actually means to have a defined versus undefined head, and why understanding this one piece can completely shift how you relate to your thoughts. If you have a defined head center, your mind is consistently active. You are wired for ideas, questions, and deep thinking. You might be the one who sparks conversations, challenges perspectives, or wakes up with a flood of inspiration. But the trap here is believing that because the questions exist, you are responsible for answering them right now. That pressure can lead to overthinking, forcing clarity, and spinning in mental loops that never quite land.If you have an open head center, your experience can feel completely different but just as intense. Your mind is highly sensitive to the world around you. You take in other people’s ideas, questions, and excitement and often amplify them. One conversation, one scroll through social media, and suddenly your mind is racing with thoughts that did not even start with you. It can feel scattered, overwhelming, and confusing until you realize you are not meant to chase every idea that enters your awareness.Whether your head is defined or open, the work is not to answer every question or act on every idea. It is to notice what is happening in your mind without letting it run the show. You will start to see how much energy you have been spending trying to solve things that were never yours to carry, and how much freedom exists when you stop treating every thought like an emergency.Because your mind is here to inspire, not to control your life.10 Minute Human Design & Mindset Starter Kit:https://kellyanneappleton.myflodesk.com/starterkitDiscover your Human Design: https://humandesignblueprint.com/Connect with Kelly-Anne:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/appletonkellyanne/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kellyanne.appletonConnect with Jacqueline:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jacqueline_sch

025: What Are Human Design Centers?
In today’s episode, Kelly-Anne and Jacqueline discuss one of the most powerful layers of Human Design: your centers. These energy hubs reveal where you are steady and reliable, and where you are open, sensitive, and influenced by the world around you. For anyone who has ever wondered why certain patterns won’t budge, why some environments drain you, or why relationships can feel so intense, this conversation starts to connect the dots in a real and practical way. This episode also kicks off a deeper series where each center will be explored individually. But before going there, this is about building a baseline understanding so you can actually recognize yourself in your chart instead of just staring at shapes and wondering what the hell it all means. We walk through the difference between defined centers, where your energy shows up consistently, and open centers, where you are more receptive and often amplifying what is happening around you. And here is the part that tends to hit people right in the chest: not everything you feel is yours. That realization alone can start to shift how you see your emotions, your stress, your drive, and even your identity. There is also a deeper look at how your centers connect to conditioning. The places where you are most open are often where you have been the most influenced, shaped, and at times, thrown off course. But instead of labeling those areas as weaknesses, this episode reframes them as places of wisdom, growth, and awareness. We also touch on how centers show up in your relationships and work. Why some people feel calming while others feel activating. Why you might overextend, overthink, or try to prove yourself in certain areas. And how understanding your design can bring you back to your own rhythm instead of constantly reacting to everyone else’s.You will leave this episode with a simple but powerful lens: your centers show you where you are consistent and where you are learning. 023: The Voice of Wisdom: Awakening Your Inner Mentor
In today's episode of Finding True North, the conversation continues from last week’s exploration of the Inner Critic. This time, we meet her quieter, wiser sister: the Inner Mentor.Together, we explore how turning down the harsh, loud voice of self criticism creates space for a deeper, truer form of inner wisdom. The Inner Mentor is described as patient, calm, and steady. She does not shout or demand attention. Instead, she waits for us to slow down, get quiet, and choose to listen. This episode dives into the contrast between the Inner Critic and the Inner Mentor. While the Inner Critic is rooted in fear, learned beliefs, and old conditioning, the Inner Mentor represents our highest self, our fullest potential, and the truth of who we are beneath the noise. Our Inner Mentor is closely connected to the body rather than the mind. She communicates through intuition, gut feelings, emotional clarity, and signs, not through mental chatter. Developing a relationship with her is a practice, not a quick fix, and it starts with awareness and curiosity. You’ll also hear several practical ways to begin strengthening your connection with your Inner Mentor:Turning down the Inner Critic by identifying when the voice becomes harsh, absolute, or unkindVisualizing your highest self and identifying the qualities she embodiesAsking inward-facing questions such as what do I need to know right now or what would my highest self do hereUsing your human design authority as a grounded decision making toolJournaling evidence that challenges old self limiting beliefsGathering reflections from trusted people who see your strengths clearlyThe episode also introduces the idea of naming both your Inner Critic and Inner Mentor as a way to create distance, awareness, and compassion toward your inner dialogue. When you can recognize who is speaking, you regain choice. At its core, this conversation is an invitation to remember that the answers you are seeking are not outside of you. They never were. Learning to trust your Inner Mentor is a gentle but powerful step toward living in alignment with your truth.10 Minute Human Design & Mindset Starter Kit:https://kellyanneappleton.myflodesk.com/starterkitDiscover your Human Design: https://humandesignblueprint.com/Connect with Kelly-Anne:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/appletonkellyanne/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kellyanne.appletonConnect with Jacqueline:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jacqueline_schFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/jacquelineschofield

018: Alone Time or a Coffee Shop? Understanding Definition in Your Human Design
Why do some people feel completely clear on their own, while others need to talk things out to find clarity? Why do certain environments energize one person and overwhelm another? In this episode of Finding True North, Kelly-Anne and Jacqueline unpack one of the most underrated yet powerful layers of Human Design: definition.Definition explains how your energy is wired internally. It reveals how you process information, how you integrate experiences, and why certain relationships or environments feel supportive while others feel draining. This conversation brings language to something many people have felt their whole lives but never knew how to explain. In this episode, you will learn:What “definition” means in Human DesignThe difference between single, split, triple split, quad split, and no definitionWhy single definition individuals often feel self contained and internally clearWhy split definitions process through connection and conversationHow triple splits benefit from movement and varied environmentsWhy quad splits can feel layered, multidimensional, and hard to summarizeWhy Reflectors are deeply impacted by their environmentHow understanding your definition can transform relationships and communicationWhy no definition is better or worse, only differentWhy this mattersDefinition shapes how you:Make sense of your experiencesProcess decisionsInteract in romantic and professional relationshipsFeel clarity or confusionExperience connectionFor some, clarity happens alone. For others, it happens in conversation. For others still, it emerges in motion, in energy, in environment. When you understand your definition, you stop judging yourself for how you process and start honoring it instead.A simple experimentKelly-Anne and Jacqueline also share practical ways to experiment with your definition this week:Single definition: practice patience with those who process differentlySplit definition: schedule a safe conversation to talk something throughTriple split: change environments and get around peopleQuad split: give yourself time and space to integrateReflector: adjust your environment before making big life decisionsHuman Design is not about labeling yourself. Inspired by conversations around Age Like a Girl and their own lived experience, they explore how midlife can feel chaotic, confronting, and deeply disorienting, yet also sacred. This is the season where what once worked no longer fits. 016: How Do I Decide? (Authority Part 2)
In this episode of Finding True North, Kelly-Anne and Jacqueline continue their exploration of inner authority in Human Design, diving into the four least common authorities and the powerful wisdom they carry.Building on last week’s conversation about decision making and self trust, this episode focuses on how clarity shows up differently for each person, especially when it comes to ego authority, self projected authority, environmental authority, and lunar cycle authority. These authorities often challenge the fast paced, logic driven expectations of modern life, yet they offer some of the deepest alignment when honored.Through real life examples and practical explanations, the sisters show how authority lives in the body, not the mind. They explore how understanding your own authority, and the authority of those around you, can radically improve relationships, communication, and confidence in decision making. This episode is an invitation to stop asking what the right answer is and start trusting how you are designed to decide. In this episode, you’ll learn:What ego authority really means and how desire and commitment guide decisionsWhy ego authority is rooted in heart and willpower, not ego as we commonly define itHow self projected authority finds clarity by speaking thoughts out loudWhy self projected people need a sounding board, not adviceHow environmental authority requires the right space for clarity to emergeWhy changing locations can unlock decision making for some peopleHow lunar cycle authority works for ReflectorsWhy Reflectors need time and consistency to reach clarityHow rushing decisions creates misalignment for rare authoritiesWhy slow, embodied decision making is not a flaw but a strengthKey takeaway:There is no single correct way to make decisions. Your clarity comes from honoring how your body is designed to decide, not from meeting someone else’s timeline or expectations.✨ Subscribe, share, and leave a review to continue the journey with Finding True North. 015: How Do I Decide? (Authority Part 1)
In today’s episode, Kelly-Anne and Jacqueline introduce the next foundational layer of Human Design: Inner Authority. If type explains how your energy works and strategy shows you how to engage with life, authority answers the question everyone asks sooner or later: How do I know what decision is right for me?This conversation unpacks why so many of us were taught to look outside ourselves for answers and how Human Design gently guides us back to our own internal wisdom. Rather than relying on logic, urgency, or other people’s opinions, authority teaches you how to make decisions in a way that feels grounded, sustainable, and aligned with your nervous system. The sisters explain what authority is, why it matters, and how learning to trust your own inner signals can radically shift the way you move through relationships, work, and everyday choices. This episode sets the stage for future conversations where each authority will be explored in more depth. In this episode, you’ll learn:What inner authority is and why it matters more than the mindHow authority works alongside type and strategyWhy overthinking often leads to misalignmentHow conditioning disconnects us from our inner knowingThe difference between mental decisions and embodied decisionsWhy learning your authority is a process, not a quick fixHow experimenting with authority builds self trust over timeWhy no one else can make aligned decisions for youYou already have everything you need to make the right decisions for your life. 012: Finding Flow Through Strategy: Human Design for Generators and Manifesting Generators
As we move into a new year, Kelly-Anne and Jacqueline begin the next foundational layer of human design: strategy. While type gives you insight into your energy, strategy shows you how to create aligned opportunities in your everyday life with less resistance and more flow.In this episode of Finding True North, the sisters focus on the two most common energy types, Generators and Manifesting Generators, and explain what it really means to “wait to respond.” Far from being passive, this strategy is about awareness, presence, and trusting the body’s natural yes or no response to what life brings into your orbit.Jacqueline breaks down how generators attract opportunities through magnetism when they are doing what lights them up, while Kelly-Anne shares real life experiences as a Manifesting Generator, including how the added strategy of informing creates smoother relationships and less friction when plans change or pivots happen quickly. This episode invites listeners to stop chasing and start noticing what is already showing up, then responding with clarity and trust. In this episode, you’ll learn:What strategy is and why it is the next key layer after typeWhy Generators and Manifesting Generators are designed to wait to respondWhat “waiting” actually looks like in real lifeHow sacral yes or no responses guide aligned decisionsWhy exposure to new environments creates more opportunities to respondHow Manifesting Generators use informing to reduce resistance and tensionHow this strategy applies to work, relationships, and daily lifeWhy flow increases when you stop forcing outcomesKey takeaway:You are not meant to chase what is not aligned. In this reflective episode of Finding True North, they explore what it means to intentionally close one chapter and step into the next with clarity, compassion, and alignment. They look back on the energy of the past year, a season of shedding, slowing down, and inner transformation, and contrast it with the forward moving energy of the year ahead. Drawing from human design, mindset work, and symbolism, they introduce a fresh and tangible approach to choosing a word of the year. One that is concrete, embodied, and supported by a meaningful symbol. This episode is an invitation to reflect, choose with intention, and move forward in a way that feels grounded rather than rushed. In this episode, you’ll hear:Why January can feel heavy with pressure and expectationsThe importance of reflecting on the year behind you before planning the nextThe energetic themes of shedding and forward momentumHow human design supported deep personal shifts and self compassionA new approach to choosing a word of the year using concrete action wordsWhy pairing your word with a symbol helps you embody it dailyHow visual reminders can anchor intention throughout the yearAn invitation to choose your word in alignment with your inner authorityKey takeaway:You do not need to become someone new this year. 009: What Is The Tape Playing In Your Head?
This week, Kelly-Anne and Jacqueline explore a powerful topic that sits right beside human design: your mindset and the beliefs that have been quietly running your life. While human design helps you understand your energy and your natural tendencies, mindset work helps you understand the stories you inherited, the beliefs you absorbed, and the programming that has shaped how you see yourself.Kelly-Anne breaks down the basics of subconscious programming using the simple and timeless analogy taught by her mentor, Bob Proctor. Together, the sisters explore how childhood conditioning forms your beliefs, how those beliefs turn into the “tape” playing in your mind, and why so many of us carry stories that were never ours to begin with. Jacqueline highlights how human design provides the language we need to replace old beliefs with ones that actually support who we truly are. This episode is a gentle but eye opening introduction to the mindset work that will weave through future episodes. In this episode, they discuss:How your conscious and subconscious mind work togetherWhy most of your beliefs were formed before age sevenCommon examples of conditioning around money, work, rest and successHow old beliefs become the “tape” that runs your daily lifeHow human design gives you the language to replace limiting beliefsWhy awareness is the first step in shifting any patternWhy mindset work is a lifelong process of peeling back layersSo much of what you believe about yourself was programmed into you long before you knew you had a choice. With awareness, you can rewrite the tape and replace old beliefs with ones that truly reflect who you are.Discover your Human Design: https://humandesignblueprint.com/Subscribe, share, and leave a review to join Kelly-Anne and Jacqueline as they continue the journey of Finding True North.Connect with Kelly-Anne:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/appletonkellyanne/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kellyanne.appletonConnect with Jacqueline:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jacqueline_schFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/jacquelineschofield

Finding True North
Here's the truth. No book, no course, no expert can hand you the right path for your life.Because really, the map has been inside you all along. It's written into the way we're designed. Our energy, our choices, our patterns. When you learn how to read the map, you discover how to align with your true direction, your true north, and stop fighting against yourself. We're sisters living in two different countries, but we've been connected for decades by the same thing.Curiosity.We've both been seekers, always searching for meaning, purpose, and direction.I'm Kelly-Anne. For over 20 years, I've been on a mindset journey, challenging beliefs, breaking old patterns, and discovering just how powerful our thoughts can be.Alongside that, I've been walking a soul path, stripping away the layers that never belonged to me and remembering the essence of who I've always been. And I'm Jacqueline. My obsession is human design.A system that I've dived into that reveals a unique blueprint.Strengths and places that we've been conditioned to play small. For me, it was like finding a compassion that finally made sense of everything. And that's why we created Finding True North. In navigation, True North is the fixed point on the map, the direction that never changes. For us, it's the compass inside of you.We believe that clarity comes from combining the map of who you are with the courage to live it.It's about remembering and trusting that compass within you. This podcast is our way of helping ourselves, and you, reconnect with that compass. Each week, in short, less than 30 minute episodes, we'll introduce human design in bite sized pieces.Your type, your strategy, your decision making style, all of it, and show you how it reveals your unique blueprint. And then we'll layer in mindset work and soul shifts that bring it all to life.Because knowing yourself is powerful, but living as your true self is where the real magic happens. These conversations aren't about giving you a rigid plan. They're about sparking something in you. The clarity, the courage, and the confidence to take your next step.So subscribe to Finding True north because it's time to stop drifting and start moving toward your true north.
