Can You Explain and Defend the Faith?
From the 4pm Mass on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Sixth Sunday of Easter, Year A at St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens. In my homily today I highlighted one of my favorite lines in the Bible: "Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope" (1 Peter 3:15). My three points: "A Reason for Your Hope" The "Information" Age? Love Seeks Understanding Here is some material I referenced: Books: Beginning Apologetics (this set of books played a big part in my intellectual conversion) Catechism of the Catholic Church (Every Catholic should have this book!) Sheen's Life of Christ (one of the best books ever written on Our Lord) (I am intending on making a list of my favorite books and making it available, but until that happens, perhaps my Goodreads account can give you some ideas.) Podcasts: Anything from Fr. Mike Schmitz is great. Check out his "Bible in a Year" or "Catechism in a Year" Radio: Check out Ave Maria Radio or ETWN Radio TV: EWTN

What Are You Doing for the Easter Season?
From the noon Mass on Sunday, April 19, 2026, the Third Sunday of Easter at St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens. I didn't really like how my prepared homily turned out, so I was kind of winging it. The main point I was trying to get across was: We live Lent so well, but what do we do for the Easter Season? The Apostles walked with Jesus before He died (Lent), but it wasn't until they met the Risen Lord (Easter) that they were really set on fire. Catholic tend to live Lent well, but what are we doing for Easter? What are we doing to meet the Resurrected Christ? The 10am Mass was livestreamed (found here, homily starts at 18:18). At the beginning of the homily I call up a couple of our first graders and we have a whole lot of fun.
