Fat Newborns, Infants, and Kids Number 11
My goal has been to reduce Obesity, Prediabetes, and Type 2 diabetes and have have several audiobooks, paperbacks, and eBooks on the subject. We now have 42% of those on the modern wester diet with one of these problems. I have covered the etiology and what to do about this, but these is a gap in this information. The incidence of being overweight or obese for the ages 2-19 is now 33%. Fifty years ago it was 5%. For most of history it has been even less. Fat children are much more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes, and at an early age. I am going to explain to you why this is happening and what can be done about it. To do this I am going to have to teach you about epigenetics. I have an audiobook and paperback on this subject which can be obtained by visiting kellygregg.com. I am also going to review the book through a series of podcast. This is the last one and reviews the maintenance diet. Of course you could always just get the audiobook. I am a retired physician and hence you should not consider anything I tell you to be medical advice. It may be good advice and I count on your common sense to determine that.

Number 19 exercise and hunger
This is a review of a review of an article in Nutrients, 2021:13(2) 347. If you exercise, you get hungry. If you wait a little , you are not quite as hungry. About 40% of the world is fat. People try to lose this fat as most do not like it much. The most common diet is to eat less and exercise more. People are smart enough to figure this out on their own, but it is also the most common diet advised by your health care provider. Obviously this diet does not work as the incidence of obesity continues to rise. Of course you could say how come this doesn't work. I took physics and this has to work or thermodynamics was wrong. This paper told us why. You get hungry. This is the reason this fails. Hunger is a result of your body demanding energy. It would be nice if we could get this energy without eating. Then we could really lose weight. I know some of you have seen the biggest loser where people eat less and exercise 8 hours a day. If you do this, you will lose weight. Of course almost all of these people gained all the weight back within a couple years. Most people have a job and cannot exercise that much. They also get injured. They also just can't stay on the eating less part because they get hungry. Go to kellygregg.com and I discuss this at length. If you want to lose fat, the most effective diet is the ketogenic diet. Even if you want to exercise more, the ketogenic diet does not limit your calories., and thus provides your body with energy and decreases hunger. This is a temporary diet and you then must go on the maintenance diet to keep from getting fat again. I really don't care if you exercise or not, you still will lose weight. Exercise does increase you work capacity and decreases the risk of injury in daily life, but it is not important in losing weight. You have to read the book.

Number 18 Introduction to Stem Cell Therapy
This is a podcast I have made for a job application. It is what it says. Most people do not have good idea what stem cell therapy is. Everyone has heard about it but most are not sure what it is. This is designed for possible clinical research sites or general populations.

Number 17 Lipoproteins
Lipoproteins in diet and health has been a confusing topic for many. Is cholesterol good or bad? Is a low-fat diet good or bad, or maybe neutral. I will at least teach you the lingo so you can understand what is being talked about. Actually, I am going to teach you a lot more than that. Not everyone will agree. I count on your common sense. This is the last chapter in my book Diet and Health. Some of the chapters are reprinted in eBook form because they are easier to understand that way. All the chapters, including this one, can be listened to via podcast on my website k

Number 16 bread and gluten sensitivity
This small article is a combination of two chapters of the book DIET AND HEALTH. I have made podcasts of the chapters of this book but some of the subjects are difficult to visualize and need the written word. This is one of the subjects. We go over some of the biochemistry of gluten and the diseases associated with bread intake. Like many other diseases I have mentioned such as obesity, diabetes, immune disease, and cancer; the incidence of these have increased over the last hundred years and so have diseases related to bread intake. This podcast goes along with the eBook of the same same.

Number 15 Flour Treatment
As some of you know, I sometimes put some of the chapters of my book Diet and Health in eBook form. I do podcasts of the chapters, and sometimes the podcasts are difficult to follow if the book has a list of items or definitions. Sometimes the book more easily displays the content. When this happens, I add a not at the end of the podcast that I will be putting the written chapter in eBook form. This chapter reviews the history of bread making and how modern bread is simply not the same. Part of the problem is all the additives and I list those that you find on the ingredient list of the bread you buy. Sometimes the bread makers are a little sneaky about the additives. Bread for 5000 years has add four ingredients. Flour (usually wheat), salt, water, yeast. These ingredients have not changed except the flour. You will see how the four has changed quite a bit. For thousands of years you could survive on just bread. I really doubt you can do that on modern bread. Now our problem isn't how to survive, but the epidemic of insulin resistance and its subsequent consequences. Historical bread kept us alive. Modern bread is killing us. Well , maybe not killing us, but definitely making us less healthy.

Number 14 Fructose and Soy Engineers
We eat a lot of fructose compared to man's diet in most of history. I estimate at least three times as much over a year's time. Certainly when fruit was ripe, man ate a lot of it. These were valuable sweet calories to be used for energy and perhaps store as fat. Now we can eat fruit three times a day, every day of the year. Government guidelines actually advise you to eat a lot of fruit. Sucrose is half fructose, and we eat a lot of that. High fructose core syrup is about half fructose, and we eat a lot of that. We just eat a lot of fructose. We also have a lot of obesity, diabetes, autoimmune disease, arthritis, and dementia. Believe it or not, there is a relationship. After reading about fructose, you may change your diet a little. Same with Soy. Hardly any used in the US u to about 100 years ago. About when we started the obesity epidemic. If the only thing it caused was obesity, we could handle that. That is not the only thing is causes.

Number 13 Fats and Protein for Food Engineers
I am continuing to talk to the food engineer. The success of my goal to get you healthier depends on this person. Last time we talked about carbs. Now we talk about fats and protein. This includes cholesterol, omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids, and saturated and unsaturated fat. You will finally see what is the deal with grass fed beef.
-
12
Number 12 carb Engineers
I continue to address the food engineer in the maintenance diet. This gives a lot more practical details in how to deal with carbohydrates in the diet. In my book, Diet and Health, I give progressively more information as it goes on such that it is somewhat difficult to jump in the middle of a topic without background. Never the less, most people will be able to understand what I am trying to teach. This will be useful for anyone wanting to get control of their carbs.

11
Number 11 Who is the food engineer
I want you to be on the maintenance diet for the common man to prevent Type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, and obesity; in addition to many diseases of the common man induced by the modern western diet. This is a lifetime diet for the entire family and relies on the food engineer. I will begin giving this person advice on how to construct this diet, and the reason why I advice these actions. This is the main objective of the book Diet and Health.

Number 9 Brain disease and fasting
Most of the time we want to live a long time. Getting dementia is the exception. This episode with talk about Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and how diet affects these diseases; and what you can do about it.
-
9
Number 10 Fat Kids and Fasting
This is a difficult subject as there are not a lot of studies on fasting in children. We do know that often fat kids have fat parents. Why is that? Has there been a world wide mutation such that now 30% of children and 40% adults are overweight? What is going on and what can we do about it?

8
Number 8 Autophagy and AGEs
You may have never heard of autophagy and AGEs, but you will now. These are basic homeostatic mechanisms in your body that you may actually influence. Autophagy is the process by which cells rid themselves of abnormal proteins, DNA, and organelles. It is a key part of allowing you to live a long life and postpone aging somewhat. AGEs are advanced glycated end products. These are compounds formed by the non-enzymatic reaction of sugars with protein and fat. These are difficult for your body to remove. Autophagy is involved in this removal. You should want to encourage autophagy and discourage AGEs being formed. I'll tell you how. There is an eBook of the podcast, and of course the entire subject and much more is contained in my book Diet and Health

7
number 7 Fasting and Disease
We have been talking about fasting and i am almost finished. This will give you and example of using fasting to treat a disease. I will talk a little about rheumatoid arthritis, but mainly give an example of how to treat someone with prediabetes. This may not be a real patient and I may not be a real doctor, or even a real diktor, So do not use this as medical advice.

Number 6 Women Living Longer with Dementia
Women live longer than men in almost every society. This is good news for women, but also bad news. People want to be in good health till they die. People do not want to have dementia, even if they are in good health. Since women live longer, they have a much higher prevalence of dementia. I am going to give you some suggestions on how to avoid this. It will not cost you any money, although I am hoping you buy my book Diet and Health.

Number 5 Angus Fast
This is a chapter in my book Diet and Health and I have found the details of this fast to be very instructive. A case study on this fast was published in a medical journal. The subject started with a weight of 456 pounds, and after not eating any caloric intake for 382 days, ended up at his goal of 180 pounds. He was under medical supervision and the findings are quite instructive. I make these podcast to drive you to but my book, Diet and Health. At the end of this podcast, I will be mentioning the next chapter of this book which is titled The Nerd Fast. I will not make a podcast on this chapter, except in my Diet and Health podcast which goes through all the chapters, so if you are interested you will have to buy my book. Actually you could just listen to the book podcast, but don't tell my wife.

4
Number 4 A2 Milk
Milk is both drunk and used in cheese and butter. I would say almost everyone has drunk cow milk, especially when they were young. It ends up that there are two kinds of milk: that being A1 milk and A2 milk. For most of the last five thousand years if you drank bovine milk you were drinking A2 milk. There was a mutation in the gene responsible for casein protein formation such that A1 milk forms beta-casomorphin-7 when metabolized. This peptide may affect people such that GI side effects occur, as well as other organ systems. I will tell you a little about it.

3
Number 3 Artificial Sweeteners
Everyone is familiar with artificial sweeteners. I now call these noncaloric artificial sweeteners, or NAS. Most people have used these in an effort to cut down on calories as a part of weight loss or to prevent weight gain. By now, most of you know this does not work. Many studies have shown the same thing. This simply does not make any sense. If you take in fewer calories, it seems you must lose weight. What's going on here. I am going to review a scientific article, Artificial sweeteners induce glucose intolerance by altering the gut microbiota, Jotham Suez, Tal Korem, et al.,Nature 514, 181-186(2014) This can also be seen as a YouTube video by the author. Just search Jotham Suez. I will review the article, give my commentary, and discuss my conclusions. After reading this article, I quit drinking Diet Dr. Pepper. This was not easy as I had a mid addiction. Although this sounds crazy, I came to the conclusion that sucrose sweetened pop was better to maintain weight than diet pop. This sounds crazy. If you listen to the podcast, you may not think it's crazy at all. As you know by now, I make these podcasts to try to get you to buy my book, Diet and Health, on amazon or at my website, kellygregg.com. This podcast is essentially just a chapter in this book. I found the article very interesting it answered some of my questions on the gut biome, and bought up many more. If you want to read instead of listen, this is also a small Kindle book (30 minute read) which you can buy (from me), or just buy the big book in paperback.

2
Number 1 Tampons and Cancer
I will explain some of the anatomy of the pelvic cavity, specifically, the peritoneal cavity. There recently was a lawsuit regarding the use of talcum powder and ovarian cancer. At first this may sound ridiculous, but after listening, it may not be so crazy. I discuss tampons, but really this applies to anything that arrives in the vagina.

Number 2 weight loss for Women
This is number two in health topics. It is a brief review for for using the ketogenic diet for fat loss in women. For further information you should consider going to my website, kellygregg.com, and getting the book Ketogenic Diet for Beginners or, as I would prefer Diet and Health. Most have heard of the ketogenic diet and this podcast lets you know what it is. It is an overview and not a detailed guide, but even then if this is all you have you will be able to use your common sense and go on the diet. I do believe it is best fat losing diet. You will need another diet when you lose the weight, and if you go back to your previous diet, you will end up in the same place you are now.
