The four pillars in old age beyond spouses’ children and friends

Today’s episode is for my old friends who are on their own and feel the burden of oldage.Yes, againwe are going deep into an interesting episode entitled ‘The four pillars inold age beyond spouses’ children and friends.’ At thisjuncture of my life, I have realized something profound.  Yes, I am old, old age is inevitable.  I want to think a little out of the box aboutthis juncture of my life.  What do wereally need in old age? In old age, what truly matters isn’t how many friends you have, or even the presence of aspouse or even the presence of children or grandchildren, which may not bepossible.  It’ssomething deeper and simpler.  I thought of4 pillars apart from these.   These 4essential aspects keep me grounded, peaceful and to a certain level fulfilledalso. First is embracingsolitude positively.  How to be alonewithout seeing it as a punishment, conscious solitude doesn’t mean rejectingothers, but rather it’s an emotional independence. It is toughto be alone.  But learning to enjoy one’sown company, with a cup of coffee, a book or some yoga, transforms silence intofulfilment.  True calmness or peacearrives only when we stop constant needing the presence of others to feelcomplete.Alone-nessin itself a joyful companion.  I havelearnt this very quickly so much so that I embrace solitude not as lonelinessbut as a joyful companion.Next aspectis to have an organized and simple home. Even thoughmy own life is cluttered not just with stuff, but with so much of chaosweighing down on my spirit, I have started simplifying my space, letting go ofthings that no longer is serving me and with this my mind is also slowlyclearing.  I want to make my home into a sanctuarywhere only peace and tranquillity prevails. I have already made a few cosy corners which is really,  really making a difference in my life.  Thirdly let’snot depend on the opinions of others when we can think. My dearfriend Prabha, who lives alone by choice, once told me, “I am not everyone’scup of tea, and that is fully okay for me”That honestyfreed her to live authentically and she is enjoying life to the maximum.  We all deserve that life not defined byothers, but by who we truly are.  I amsure over some period of time; we all will learn to value authenticity morethan external approval.  What othersthink about us loses its power, when we understand that everyone carries theirown burdens, with all their joys and sorrows. True freedom arrives only when we stop justifying ourselves to others.Lastly andperhaps most importantly is learning to be necessary and useful to one’s  own self. When one ofmy elderly Aunt recovered after her illness, she found strength everyday indoing in small small rituals, like preparing her own tea, journalling memories, doing a little bit of gardening, going for small walks or listening to her favouritesongs and of course visiting nearby temples. I remember all these rituals had made her feel needed, to herself aboveall and she remains very healthy and positive till now.Organizeyour little world in a way that fills you up not drain you.The love wereceive from our spouses, children and friends is a beautiful bonus, not thefoundation of our happiness.  Let’sembrace our own lives fully while allowing them the freedom to live theirs. So, friends,in old age what truly keeps us going is not just the people around us, but thestrengths we cultivate within us, peace with solitude, determination, anorderly home and cultivating self-love.  So, let’stry and embrace these four essentials and watch how our lives becomepurposeful, peaceful and positive. So dear oldfriends, please, please share this podcast with anyone who might need theseinsights, to embrace happiness and to live a fuller meaningful life. So, withthese insights its your host Leena Madan signing off with lots and lots of loveand positivity.Until next,Bye-Bye andthank you.

Timeless Resilience. How our generation the (Baby – boomers) masters change

Welcome again to my new episode,‘TimelessResilience. How our generation the (Baby – boomers) masters change’So,sit back, as I take you, quietly through a few stories from my life thathighlight how we have grown, adapted and thrived through six decades, 2different centuries, and 2 millennia. Iremember the days when making a long distance, call to a relative stayingabroad was a very big event for us and our families.   Booking an STD call …..Mailingin the Queue for hours …… and of course paying a lot for the same.  These days it is a common thing to see ourgrand kids, Stream movies in 4K, and make face time chats.Thischange, I believe, exemplifies how our generation have learnt to adapt frompatience to embracing instant communication, and from physical distance tovirtual closeness. Growingup, bicycles were the main mode of transport. I remember the freedom of ridingin a bicycle around my neighbourhood, cooly feeling the wind in my hair andface.  Then came the motorbike, cars andnow the latest marvel the driverless cars.Theday has come when I can sit back and let my car do the driving.  It’s a testament to how our new generation isand how we embrace innovation, even when it challenges our comfort zones. Inschool, I used floppy disks to save my work. They were tiny, fragile and held just a few megabytes.  Today I carry flash drives with terabytes ofdata and stream my favourite music and movies online. Whata dramatic change.  We have transitionedfrom writing letters to sending e-mails and instant texts.Nowa little about this generation.Thisgeneration often referred as the “baby boomers”!,  was a remarkable and influential cohort thatleft an indelible mark on  history, knownfor their revolutionary spirit, they spearheaded major social, cultural andpolitical changes, advocating for civil rights, peace and freedom. Theirgreatness was in their resilience, innovation and dedication to shaping abetter world, as seen in the rise of counter cultural movements, advancementsin technology and significant contributions to arts and sciences. Todayalso, many of these individuals continue to inspire through their wisdom, experience and leadership, maintaining their legacy of courage and progress invarious spheres of life.Thisgeneration face challenges related to aging, health issues and adapting torapid technological changes. Lookingback, I realise that being born in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s has given our generationa front-row seat to history’s most exciting pages and of course changes.  We are witnesses to the world transformingfrom the analogue to the digital, from physical to virtual an from traditionalto cutting edge. Ourgeneration has faced these shifts head-on, constantly learning, evolving andthriving.  It’s this resilience andopenness to change which make Ourgeneration truly is special, teaching the present generation that strength liesin embracing challenges with grace. Theseserve as timeless lessons.Thankyou for listening to my stories.  Ifthere is one thing, I want you to take away from this episode it is this.Ifeel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for having been a part of thisincredible journey.Nomatter how fast the world changes, our ability to adapt to what kept ourgeneration relevant and resilient. So,friends, stay curious, stay adaptable and keep moving forward.  Have the perseverance, flexibility and thecourage to reinvent yourself amidst an ever-evolving world. No matter how fast the world is evolving, your ability toadapt and stay true to your self is what will define you. Thanks for being with me.With the words it is your host Leena Madan signing offpromising to get back with another great episode.Until then its tata bye-bye from me.

Print the future! 3D magic from Garage to Galaxy

I would like to share the latest buzz, real-world uses, and a few experiences. I have seen my cousin brother using the 3D Printing for custom prototypes in his workshops, from light weight drone parts to personalized tools that traditional factories cannot match quickly. Industries love it for on-demand medical implants, automotive spares and even edible chocolate printers. It slashes waste by building layer-by-layer, perfect for sustainable manufacturing. Printing a model of a spider-inspired house using new-large-format tech in 12 hours by my cousin was in indeed great. This can solve housing shortages. 3D Printing offers versatile applications across industries, even for small shops, thanks to affordable Printers and of course the free design software. 3D Printing builds objects layer by layer from digital models; all guided by CAD software. This beats subtractive machining by adding only needed material, reducing waste by upto90%. Some of the free tools like Tinker cad allows beginners to design in minutes. One of my friends also had designed and printed a prosthetic hand for a neighbour’s kid using flexible polymers, scanned his arm, tweaked in free software, and printed overnight. That kid was gripping a ball for the first time in months and matching his smile made him realize 3D Printings human impact! Here are a few uses of 3D Printing.  Prototyping custom parts for inventors, speeding up ideas from sketch to reality overnight.  Medical implants like Patient-Specific Prosthetics, fitting perfectly without the waste.  Aerospace components, creating light weight, complex shapes for rockets and drones.  Construction of homes via giant Printers, layering concrete, cutting the construction time by 50%.  Food printing, crafting personalized chocolates or pizzas layer by layer for fun eateries. So friends, that’s a wrap on our 3D Printing adventure from the garage prototypes to the life-changing prosthetics, this technology is catching up and empowering creators like you all and me to build the future, one layer at a time. I have shared my stories, now grab a good printer, dive into the tinker cad and print your first idea, what’s it Gona be? Hope you enjoyed this small session. Don’t forget to share your wins. Soon I’ll catch up in the next episode making magic happen. Till then it’s your host Leena Madan signing off. Thanks, and bye.

Solo-Sparks’ – How India is learning that Art of being happy alone

Welcome to ‘Solo-sparks’,Where we are going to explo4re how India is mastering the art of living alone, not in isolation, but as a powerful path to self- discovery and fulfilment. From “log kya kahenge”?  to solo freedom, millennials and GenZ are already rewriting the script that once stifledsolitude. Nilima a 32-year-old software engineer from Bangalore wasraised in a joint family, where her dinner table overflowed with 15 relatives, solitude felt like failure.  But after anagonizing break-up last Diwali as advised by her friends, she booked a solotrek Solang Valley in Kullu-Manali.  Upthere Nilima was mesmerised.  Shejournaled her fears, abandoned and unworthiness and became one with theplace.  And as stars shone up the sky,she realized ‘alone’ didn’t mean empty. She danced to Bollywood songs in her tent, cooked instant food over afire and listened to lovely music.  Itgave her immense strength and courage. She felt so free, back home, not only that she wanted other women likeher to continue their life.  She launched‘Solo Wanderlust India’, a community of about 50,000 Indians sharing tips onhappy aloneness.  Nilima’s story showssolitude, rebellion and rebirth. It is travel, perhaps more than anything else in the worldthat captures the new solo spirit.   Postpandemic there is a steady growth in ’solo travelling’ especially among GenZtravellers.  They are in fact redefiningwhat travel means, seeking independence, cultural immersion and personalgrowth.  Among Solo Indian travellers, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesiaand Sri Lanka top the international list, and of course Solo Women travel hasrisen by more than 130% in two years. There are also solo travellers in their 40’s, 50’s and even in their60’s.  Many are choosingMono-destinations and experiences.  it’sa move from transactional to transformational travel.  It is not about budget anymore, it's aboutcomfort and control.Another data says 470,000 fans travelled outside their homecities to attend concerts this year, and mind you most of them were alone. Here are 5 notable Solo Achievers from India, who rose from humble beginnings to transformative impact through personal gritand vision. ·       Narendra Modi rose Solofrom a tea seller in Gujarat to India’s PM reshaping the Nation through boldreforms and infrastructure leaps.·       APJ Abdul Kalam the “Missile-Man”,who achieved greatness alone as a self-taught engineer, leadingIndia’s space and defence programs before becoming he President of our country.·       Ratan Tata built a global empire Single-handedlyin solitude focus.·       Indira Nooyi climbed Soloto CEO of PepsiCo redefining corporate strategy.·       Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw started Biocon alonein a garage, turning it into India’s biotech giant through relentless Soloinnovation.   And as wewrap up today’s “Solo Sparks’, let’s us linger on that smallest change with thebiggest meaning transforming alone time from loneliness into a profound senseof wholeness.  Across India, frombustling metros to quiet corners, we’re rewriting the story of solitude, turning it into a canvas for creativity, resilience and unfiltered joy.  Howabout trying to embrace your Solo journey this week …. All can try this out…….. Savour a quiet coffee,Journal your thoughts in solitude orSimply breathe in the freedom of your own company orHum a latest tune alone. And of course do let me know how you felt …..Till then it is your host Leena Madan signingoff to come back with an equally interesting episode in the next. Thanking you,Bye-bye

YOUR BRAIN-THE STAGE, THE SCRIPT AND THE STORY TELLER

In this episode, I want to share how our brain works in daily life, how it stores ourmemories, what IQ really means, and what science suggest we can do, to protectour brain and delay cognitive decline as we age. Now let’s take a simple practical tour of the brain:Let us seehow some of our ordinary day to day works are linked to the brain, also  Let’s take the example of a simpleconversation, which involves multiple areas.Languageregions decode words, emotional centres, colour, the tone, and memory systemscompare with what I am hearing now and with what I have experienced before. Most of this happens below conscious awareness, which is why the brainhas been compared to a supercomputer summing millions of parallel processes.  When youwant to catch a ball, dance, type or even scroll in your mobile, yu can do so smoothly, because the Cerebellum fine tunes it.The ‘gut-brain’connection allows what you eat, and even the bacteria in your intestines, toinfluence your mood energy and thinking speed. Supposing you feel stressed before a big meeting, it is again your brain which signals your adrenal glands to release stress hormones. There is no clear line between ‘Mental’ and ‘Physical’ health.Taking care of all aspects of the body is one of the most powerful ways to protect and enhance the brain. I have oftenheard that the left brain is logical and the right brain is creative.  Soon, I learnt this interesting fact, formost right-handed people, the left side handles language details, grammar, wordchoice and step-by-step reasoning. The rightside is more tuned to big-picture patterns, tone of voice, facial expressions, music and spatial awareness.Rather thanthinking ‘left’ or ‘right’ it is more accurate to say ‘left and right’,together. 100 is anaverage IQ for any population.  IQ can be influencedby education, Health, Environment and event test, anxiety. Friends,Brain care is not only for older adults or people with problems, it is a lifelongproject. For childrenand teenagers out there limiting excessive screen time, ensuring sleep, goodnutrition, play, and offering emotional safety can shape stronger attention andresilience and a great brain. When I stepback and look at all of this, one message stands out, the brain is not fixed.  From childhood to old age, it responds to howwe live, how we move, what we eat, how we sleep, what we think and how we treatone another. So, friends, caring for the brain is not an extra task on a long to to-do list, it is the foundationthat makes every other task possible. This is the crux. Want todevelop a sharp brain.  Here are a fewsimple exercises for you.1.    Daily brisk walk with any mental tasklike recalling a list or counting backwards.2.    Doing a short puzzle for 10-15 min.3.    Practicing 5-10 minute of mindfulbreathing.4.    Learning or practicing some newskills or learning a few words of a language every day.5.    Using your non-dominant hand forsimple tasks like brushing teeth, eating or opening doors to challenge yourusual brain pathways. Did youknow that,1.    Your brain generates enoughelectrical activity to power a small bulb.2.    Your brain uses 20% of your body’stotal energy though it weighs only 2 % of your body.3.    About 95% of the decisions your makeevery day happen sub consciously even without you realizing it?  Isn’t it great?4.     If there isone take away from this episode, it is this;Love yourbrain enough to give it good fuel, geed rest, good challenges and of coursegood company, because the quality of your brain shapes the quality of yourlife. So friends, before your brain lets this episode fade, let us remember one thing, everythought you choose and every habit you repeat, is quietly wiring the person youwake up tomorrow. So dearstake care of your brain. With thesewords it is your Host Leena Madan signing off till next. Love youall, Bye-bye.

As India prepares to celebrate its 77th RepublicDay, let’s reminisce about this great Nation then and now.  I’ve witnessed India’s remarkable growth, mirroring my own journey over six decades from my childhood to today.I am a proud child of India, From the ashes of 1947 totoday’s global power house, I’ve walked hand-in-hand with my Nations’s ascent, economically, socially, digitally and beyond. As a PhD Holder shaped by this soil, my growth echoes hers.  I want to feel the emotion, the pride, theunbreakable spirit …. welcoming again to myshort podcast India @77 “A Nation’s journey parallel to mine”.  Where I would like to journey through thosemost transformative years together.Digital India has changed our daily lives drastically.  Recently under an old banyan tree in my village, I could see a young boy, selling fruits pointing to the QR Code forpayments. In small stalls, in that small village, I could see people usingUPI, G Pay and what not?No more changes, No carrying notes.  Just a beep and lo your payment is done!!!That young boy may not have many degrees but he is digitallysmart.  This is the digitally smartIndia. This new confidence even in the under privileged, comes fromstrong digital systems.  Adhar, UPI, Cheapdata, and the push for ‘Digital India’ the money goes straight into the BankAccounts. Our economy has grown, our defence is stronger, our yoga andancient wisdom now reach the whole world. Of course, we are still not now that perfect.  We still fight inequality, fear and gaps inhealth and education. Here is a survey for you all ……India in 1947 dawned with a fractured economy, GDP growthunder 1%, begging for food aid.  By 2026we’re the world’s 5th largest economy at $4.2 trillion, clocking7.5% growth last year, eyeing $ 5 trillion soon.Mumbai’s skyline rivals New York,140,000 Km of highways connect villages to cities since 2014,Bullet trains and 1.2 million mobile users power UPI’s 15 billion monthlytransactions. We have exported $780 billion in goods last year.  Poverty plunged to 5%, 800 million with bankaccounts.   Solar-powered grids light100% of homes.India’s digital leap to 900 million users.200m defences and cloud labs have helped us to collaborate worldwide.  We have grown because India grew.  Our Bengaluru has given 2 million techjobs.  We have conquered pandemics withhome gown vaccines, feeding 1.4 billion via tech-Agri drones.  Not every woman is safe, not every child hasequal chances.  But when I compare theIndia of Ration Queues with the Novel India of QR codes, there is an ocean ofdifference, and there is something powerful. It is nothing but ‘Hope’.Hope in our farmers and coders.   In our soldiers and shopkeepers In our mothers who silently worked and our daughters who refuse to stop dreaming.  When I look at all of these my eyes fill with tears.  Not of pain but of gratitude.

BUILDING A HABIT OVER 30 DAYS

Welcome to my Podcast ‘HEART BEATS OF CHANGE’Thank you all for all your love and supportToday we are going deep into an interesting episode entitled, “BUILDING A HABIT OVER 30 DAYS”I was a deeply personal journey, an experiment of building a gratitude habit in 30 days.  It has been eye-opening, emotional and truly transformative.  This is about how a simple act can change everything.A few months ago, I was feeling overwhelmed with  Work stress, personal struggles and a feeling that totally I was missing out on happiness. One night as I was scrolling, I stumbled upon a quote,“Gratitude turns what we have into enough and more”This resonated deeply.I thought, why don’t I start a gratitude journal.Write down 5 things I was grateful for each day.  At first, it was cumbersome. I also felt too silly listing small things like a good cup of coffee or an encouraging word from a friend.  But I made it a point to somehow do it as I had started it.But slowly in two or three days, I noticed something, every day, my focus shifted. I began appreciating even very little moments like a warm sunshine on my face, a smile from a stranger, a calm moment etc., that shift started to lift my spirits and change my outlook. First let me tell you why this habit matters.Building this habit isn’t just about listing good things.  It’s about rewiring our brains to focus on abundance instead of scarcity.  It helps us to see the good among the chaos, reduce stress unknowingly and cultivate a mindset of gratitude and resilience.   I tell you friends, gratitude isn’t just a feeling, it’s a practice that rewires our brains for happiness. Midway through my 30 days, something unexpected happened, I was feeling down about a missed opportunity and I almost skipped my gratitude journal for about 3 days. But at the end of third day, I pushed through. That evening, I wrote about being grateful for the lessons learnt from failure. Surprisingly the next morning, I received a message from an old friend, one I hadn’t spoken to for quite some time, offering support and encouragement.  That moment made me realize how powerful this habit is.  It opened by eyes to the abundance around me and how my mindset impacts reality.Friends, gratitude can be expressed in countless ways, even for the smallest moments like appreciating the aroma of your morning coffee, the sound of birds chirping in the morning hours, or the simple act of stretching after wake up. Even appreciating the smooth flow of traffic or a helpful colleague’s smile can make a difference, only when we become mindful of these tiny moments, we realise how much beauty and kindness surround us every day.For those interested here is a list of 10 habits related to expressing gratitude for the small aspects of life, you can learn and cultivate in a month.- Morning Reflections.-Mindful Observation.-Gratitude journaling-Expressing Thanks.-Pause and Breaks.-Compliment others.-Limit complaints- Appreciate your Body.-Enjoy small pleasures.-Reflect before bed. In the first weekLay the foundation. In the second weekDeepen your Awareness. In the third weekIt’s about building consistency. In the fourth weekTry and make it your lifestyle.A few optional tips- Use remainder alarms to prompt habits.- Keep a dedicated gratitude journal or an app.- Be gentle with yourself if some days are missed. So, here I am, 30 days later, feeling more grounded, more grateful, and more hopeful. This simple habit has changed my lifein ways I never expected.  If you are considering startingsomething similar, I encourage you, just don’t wait, make a beginning and writedown your gratitude no matter how small. THE ART OF BEING CHARMING

‘THE ART OF BEING CHARMING’What do you understand by the term‘charm’?Charm’ is a quality that makes someone or something attractive, pleasing or likeable.’Charm isn’t about superficial tricksor flashy moves.  Charm is aboutconnection, warmth and making others feel genuinely seen and valued.  Now let’s unpack how genuine charm cantransform lives, including your own. Psychologically charm works because it activates a deep human desire to feel understood and appreciated when we sense real attention, our brains release feel-good chemicals like dopamine and oxytocin, fostering connection and trust. So, charm isn’t just surface level: it’s biologically powerful.  I was a teacher for about 3 decades, and charm wasn’t something I consciously aimed to ‘perform’, but it wasessential’.   I often say that almost about five hundredstudents still connect with me years later, not just because I taught them well, but because I made an earnest effort to make them feel important , heard and cared for.I remember an incident where a shy student who was coming from an ordinary family, once told me that my smallgestures like remembering his favourite book or even asking about his family, gave him enormous confidence.  I had alsoevolved various techniques for the brighter students to interact with the average ones to make them feel important by teaming them together.  This built their confidence and I could also see the colossal improvement in their studies and their day-to-day activities. This kind of charm builds lasting bonds.  As a teacher, ‘charm’ means being genuinely present and making each student feel like the most important person in the classroom. When we talk of the charm of an air-hostess, in just a few moments, she creates comfort, calm and positivityfor dozens of passengers who are strangers to each other. Her charm lies in attentiveness, patience and a warm smile that says, “you’re safe here and I care about your experience”.It’s a remainder that charm can be professional and yet completely authentic. Here I would like to add, parents too, have a beautiful opportunity to be charming in unique ways.  When parents show charm towards theirchildren, it teaches them to feel loved and confident.Simple loving acts like listening patiently to their endless stories, celebrating their little wins with enthusiasm, or offering comfort with a kind word are all forms of charm.  This builds emotional safety and shapes how children relate to others as they grow. I know of a parent who would alwayskneel down to the level to his children when talking, making eye contact, laughing with them, playing with them and truly tuning in.  this simple behaviour will make the childfeel respected and understood, creating a life-long bond of trust.  Charm here becomes an expression of love. Now friends how can we bring morecharm into our own life?Start with simple presence.  Charm isn’t about being fully there, it isn’tabout the moment or about being perfect. Practice active listening.Ask questions that show you care.  Use genuine smiles and maintain warm eyecontact.Remember names and details that areimportant to others.Charm lifts others up.It’s a gentle and amazing art of making people feel like they belong And that they are worthy of attention and kindness.Thank you all so much for joining me today on this journey exploring the art of being charming.Whether you’re a teacher, a parent, aprofessional like an air hostess, or simply someone who wants a better connection, charm is within your reach. It’s about authenticity, kindness and the simple yet profound act of making others feel seen and appreciated.I hope these stories and insights inspire you to practice charm in your everyday life.Until next time, keep shining your light and spreading warmth everywhere you go. Take care! It’s your host Leena Madan signing offtill next. Thanks, and bye-bye.

THE EYES BEFORE THE HAND SHAKE

Hey friendsNow I want to ask you something.  How many times have you trusted someone only to realize later their intentions weren’t what your thought?  I am sorry tostate that we live in a world where smiles are easy, words are available and sadly loyalty is rare. There is something deeply human about wanting to see the best in others.  Our parents taught us to trust, to givepeople a chance.  But the truth is not everyone really deserve that chance.  And I tell you this is not cynicism but wisdom. In this generation of filters, likes and instant connections, it’s getting harder to see what’s real.  People can pretendwarmth with a well-curated feed, pretend to be emphathetic with a perfectlytimed emoji, with a few inspiring quotes even. But energy?   This is the one wecan never ever pretend. My grandmother once told me “Never trust someone who’s only nice when people are watching.  That really hit me differently as I grew up.  Because the real ones, the ones worth trusting stay consistent in the quiet moments.  They show kindness when there is nothing to gain.  They tell you the truth even when it is uncomfortable.  They protect your name when are not in the I’n the room. You know the older generation learned to read people by time; by observing patterns, the new generation? You have got to do it faster, through intuition.  Both the paths lead to the same wisdom.  Protect your peace.  Not everyone, who smiles at you wants to see you win and be happy. May be you have been hurt by someone, you trusted too soon.  Maybe you saw their true colours when it was already too late. Don’t feel bad for caring.  That’s your heart’s proof of humanity.  But from nowon, let every lesson strengthen your boundaries, not harden your heart.  Learn the art of watching quietly, listen not only to what people say, but what they avoid saying.  Notice if these actionsalign with their promises, because one honest moment of observation can save you years of disappointment.  And here’s the thing.  Friends, reading people isn’tabout judging them.  It’s about protectingyour emotional energy so you can still love fearlessly but wisely.Your peaceis too expensive to jumble on the wrong path.So as your walk into you next friendship, relationship or a business meeting, remember this, Seek the truth, not titles.Energy, not image. and Consistency not charm. The real ones will never need to convince you, you’ll just feel peace and tranquillity around them.  Please, please test before you trust. Thank youfor tuning in to the ‘THE EYES BEFORE THE HAND SHAKE’.  If this resonated with you, please share it with someone who gives too much, trusts too soon and loves too hard.  They may really, really need these words tonight. And until next time- keep your hearts open, but your eyes wide And with this dictum, this is your host, Leena Madan. Signing off.  Love you alland Bye-bye.Concise form of the Podcast1.    This podcast explores the psychology of trust, body language, and hidden intentions to help you spot authenticity and protect your peace.2.    In today’s world, smiles are easy and loyalty is rare — trust must be earned, not given.3.    Not everyone who appears kind has pure intentions; wisdom lies in seeing beyond appearances.4.    Social media can fake warmth, but true energy and intentions can never be pretended.5.   Observe tone, pauses, and consistency — real character shows in quiet moments.6.    The wise learn to read people — through time or intuition — to guard their emotional energy.7.    Don’t regret caring; instead, let each lesson strengthen your boundaries, not harden your heart.8.    Watch patterns, not promises — actions always reveal the truth.9.    Protectyour peace by seeking energy, not image; consistency, not charm.10.  The real ones make you feel calm and safe — always test before you trust.

Silent Signals- understanding the Body Language

PODCAST 12Hello everyone,Hearty welcome to my Podcast “Heart Beats of Change” There is a saying,‘Your body talks even when you don’t’.Ready to unlock the secrets behind every move? Welcome to Silent Signals- understanding the Body Language. The Podcast where every gesture speaks louder than words.  I’m Leena Madan your guide to decoding the hidden language that shapes how we understand, connect and influences each other.  Get ready to uncover the secrets your body has been telling all along.Let’s decode what’s really being said-without a word. Have your ever noticed someone’s crossed arms during a conversation or caught a glance that seemed to reveal more than words ever could? That’s the power of body language the silent signals we send and receive every day. Isn’t it amazing? Now what is the importance of body language? Body language accounts for a significant portion of our communication. Estimates suggest up to 93% of our interactions are non-verbal.  In can reinforce what we say, or sometimes, completely contradict it.  For example, say “I am fine” with a clenched jaw or avoiding eye contact often reveals distress or discomfort. Now let’s us move on to some common signals in our day-to-day life and what they might mean. ·      EYE CONTACTMaintaining eye contact can indicate confidence and engagement and emotion during interaction while avoiding it may suggest discomfort, evasiveness or disinterest.  Shifting gaze can be interpreted as nervousness or even dishonesty.  Eye contact has different interpretation in different cultures.Your eyes tend to follow what you are interested.  People tend to move their eyes down or to one side wheno   Working through a problemo   Recalling memorieso   Thinking about something difficult. ·      FACIAL EXPRESSIONSA genuine smile involves the eyes whereas a fake smile might only involve the mouth.   Facial expressions often reveal true feelings beneath spoken words. They help signal friendliness, openness, discomfort or deception, some facial cues such as pupil dilation, blushing and micro-expressions are beyond conscious control.  Sometimes some states like threat or approachability, co-operation etc., can also be understood by body language.Compressed or narrowed lips can suggest uneasiness.Quivering lips can suggest fear or sadness.Pursed lips can indicate anger. ·      POSTUREAn open posture, with arms uncrossed and facing the person, signals openness and attentiveness.  Conversely, crossed arms and turned-away bodies can suggest defensiveness or disinterest.  Posture can also reflect states like eagerness, boredom or nervousness. Understanding posture helps interpret the unspoken messages people send to us during daily interactions, improving communication and relationship dynamics.  It is important to keep in mind that body language isn’t  universal. ·      GESTURESHand movements, nodding, or leaning forward demonstrate interest.  Fidgeting, or repeated gestures might indicate nervousness or impatience.  The meaning of gestures can vary culturally, for e.g., a thumbs-up is positive in some countries but offensive in others. ·      PROXIMITYPersonal space varies by culture and individual performance and generally, closer proximity can suggest familiarity or comfort while distance may indicate formality or discomfort.  Postures also reflects cultural differences; some cultures are comfortable with closer d

    ‘HIGH VIBE AND HEALTH’

PODCAST 11Hi friends, Hearty welcome to my Podcast ‘HEART BEATS OF CHANGE’Hope you all are doing good.  This time we are having a very interesting episode entitled ‘HIGH VIBE AND HEALTH’: ‘ELEVATE YOUR LIFE IN THE MODERN AGE’, where we go into the latest ways to boost your energy, elevate your mood, and stay thriving in today’s fast-paced world. I am really really excited to share some of the freshest ideas that can help you feel your best, no matter, your age or life-style. First let’s talk about tech wellness.  We live in an era where our smart phones are almost an extension of ourselves. But constant scrolling drain our energy and create stress.  The latest trend?  You all may be knowing Digital detoxes and mindful tech habits. I recently started implementing a ‘tech-free hour’ before bed, replacing my screen time with journaling, meditation, reciting affirmations and listening to calming music.  It’s amazing how much more relaxed, I feel when I wake up.Irrespective of any age, this is a simple, effective may to reset your mind and boost your energy.  If you all are not following this you can try it out . . . . .Its quite rewarding.  Now let’s talk about movement not just any workout, but mindful movement, like the latest trend of virtual reality (VR) fitness.  Yes, VR is transforming how we stay active, making exercise immersive and fit.  I have heard my younger friends trying VR dance classes.  It’s a total vibe of a different kind!  When they told me about that I really felt energized and connected, even though I was just hearing about it.  So, for those with an interest to go, ‘gaga’ and dance don’t miss to try this out.But for my older friends just try moving from one place to another, taking small walks and trying to climb stairs. Whether you are young or old integrating movement that feels good and sparks joy is the key. It’s not about punishing yourself, its about elevating yourself, its about elevating your mood and health.  Even doing yoga for about an hour or a brisk walk with a podcast in your ears will be sufficient. Now let’s move into nutrition.  The latest trend?  ‘Adaptive eating’ is listening to your body’s signals and eating intuitively.  Also, friends, plant-based and super foods are everywhere, making it easier to nourish your body with vibrant, health boosting foods. I remember staying with my grandma during my childhood.  She used to incorporate more plant-based meals and may be that’s what contributed to her brain health and longevity.   I remember the way she used to move and work and lived well into her nineties. At this juncture, let’s all remember that its never too late to upgrade our diet.  I have incorporated soaked chia seeds and basil seeds into my breakfast cereal, which really keeps me energetic and full till my lunch time.  Try it friends, your cells will thank you! Next is the secret sauce: connection. The latest trend; virtual social clubs and interest groups.  Whether you are in a yoga club, book club, an online meditation circle, or hobby group, or staying in a group for mindful living, staying connected boosts your high vibe and keeps you cool. Recently I joined a Yoga Club, and the shared positivity is contagious.  Remember a supportive vibe isn’t just for the young, it’s a lifelong boost. And, finally the most important, practicing breath work and Meditation for Elevated Energy. Techniques like conscious breathing, pranayama and mindful Meditation helps regulate the nervous system, reduce stress and boost your energetic state.&nbsp

Hey friends, welcome back to ‘HEART BEATS OF CHANGE’,Today’s episode is about,‘LIVING FULLY WITH MINIMALISM’What do we exactly understand the term minimalism?   Minimalism is a design and lifestyle philosophy that empathizes simplicity, clarity and functionality by only allowing the essential aspects to manifests.Today I want to share an honest reflection about living fully with minimalism.  It’s something I learnt from my beloved Dad, Uncle and Aunt, about the beauty of simplicity.   This is about letting go as we reach the wint4er of our lives. Talking about my Dad, even though he was highly educated with a profound knowledge of English and of course holding a job as an officer in a Government Concern, he chose to live in a minimalist way; and taught us the value of minimalism.2 This encourages intentionality and mindfulness by reducing distractions and only emphasize what truly matters. Growing up I watched my Uncle and Aunt, who are really really affluent, possess only the Minimum things needed for a household.  Their home was simple, elegant and their belongings few but meaningful. This made me understand that possessions don’t define happiness.  That true wealth lies in expressions, relationships and giving what truly matters is love, kindness and4Friends here are a few tips to live minimally,-       Focus on quality not quantity.-       Clear out what you don’t need.-       Be thankful for what you have.-       Keep your schedule simple.-       Let go of material things. Here are some great people amongst us who valued simplicity and love and, lived a minimal life but gave in plenty to all . . . . . .Mahatma Gandhi – Led India to Independence through non violent resistance and lived minimally. Mother Terasa – Dedicated her life to serving the poor and sick with a minimal life. Leonardo da vinci – Achieved greatness in art, science and inventtio  lived minimally while only valuing curiosity. Albert Schneitzer – Lived minimally in Africa, known for his humanitarian work and reverence or life.3A     4When someone we love so much leaves us, their possessions and memories remain, filling out hearts with both love and longing.  But true grace lies inletting go, releasing the material ties and accepting that their spirit lives on beyond the things they left behind. I believe that we must learn to let go of possessions and embrace the profound truth; love and memories are eternal, but possessions are fleeting.  It’s ins-------------- that we find healing, peace and the freedom to carry the essence forward in our hearts; in our actions, our gratitude and our memories.   5Continuing our journey of letting go and cherishing love.   Totally we explore how embracing minimation can bring more peace, purpose and joy into our lives especially for the  ------. Teach your kids to value things that truly matter like a meaningful toy or a special book, rather than accumulating many items. Involve them in shopping decisions, fostering awareness of wants Vs needs.Use minimalistic designs in this room to promote calm and focus.   6Plan activities that help in connection, creativity and learning.  Teach them to appreciate what they have and find joy in simple pleasures.EducationalUse stories, books or videos about minimation and mindful living. PracticalCreate family challenges, like

‘WHAT SHOULD I READ NEXT’ ?

PODCAST 9Hey friends, welcome back to my podcast ‘HEART BEATS OF CHANGE’ and to my new episode‘WHAT SHOULD I READ NEXT’ ?A little space where I share my journey through words, stories and ideas what have transformed me challenged me and helped me to see the world in a totally different perspective.‘READING MAKETH A MAN’If you are like me who believes in the power of a good book, then this episode is for you.Stay with me.Today I want to highlight how reading shapes us,  how it helps us, how it heals us and most importantly, how to decide which book to pick up next.Friends, I make it a point to read at least one book a week.  I believe reading is gateway to knowledge, imagination, and empathy and it enriches our lives also. Some weeks it’s two books also. I believe it’s my ritual,A way of staying connected to new ideas, new perspectives and new emotions.  But I always get a doubt, with so many books out there, how do we choose what to read next?  That’s the question I ponder, each time I finish a book. So, how do I decide what to read next?  For me, it’s a mix of instinct, curiosity and sometimes a voice from the universe.  I love stories that resonate with my mindset, whether they challenge my beliefs or expand my horizons.  Here are some books I’ve loved that I think you may consider.·      “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, as who doesn’t want to master the habits and unlock their potential memoir which was raw, inspiring and very much human.·      “Becoming” by Michelle Obama is a powerful memoir which was raw, inspiring and much human. ·      “Daring Greatly” by Brene Brown was about vulnerability and courage and how they can transform our lives. At a time when you are feeling stuck, - mentally exhausted, or emotionally drained, a book like “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho is really apt.  This book with its simple yet profound message of listening to our hearts and following dreams, can change one’s entire outlook.  It will reawaken’s one’s desire to pursue what truly matters.  That’s the power of a good book; it can shift your perspective in an instant.Sharing something more personal ….Recently I was overwhelmed with lot of uncertainty and drained out emotionally that’s when I remembered a quote from“Man’s search for meaning” by Viktor Frank”, when we are no longer able to change a situation, we ae challenged to change ourselves. That resonated deeply with me.  I realized I was trying to control everything, which were beyond control, the real power was in changing my response.  That’s the beauty and magic of books, they can give us the tools to negative life’s storms. And here’s the thing, reading isn’t just about escaping reality, its about engaging with it more realistically and  thoughtfully, it’s about finding stories that challenge us, inspire us and sometime heal us. So, dear friends, my challenge to you today is next time when you finish a book, you’ve got to ask yourself?  Do I need inspiration? Comfort?  Some affection?  Or a new perspective? And then, pick up that next book that calls you, because each book is a doorway to a better, wiser, and a more so compassionate version of yourself. They transport us to different worlds, inspire our imagination and offer profound insights into the human experience. And when it comes to my student friends, I feel they should choose a book that aligns with their academic interests or future career goals, and can select a book that is appropriate for your current reading level, challenging enough to promote growth but not so difficult that it becomes frustrating. And my kid friendsshould b

    The Gift of Now!

Hello everyone.Welcome to my episode entitled ‘the Gift of now’,  a space where we pause, breathe and reflect on the most precious gift life offers us – the present moment.   I am your host, Leena Madan and today I want to remind you of something simple, yet deeply powerful, ‘the gift of now’. In our busy lives, whether we’re young or old, chasing dreams or facing challenges, it is easy to forget that life is unfolding right here,  right now. But what if we truly embraced that? What if we learned to live each moment with open hearts,  free from regrets of the past or worries about the future? Today, I invite you to reconnect with that timeless truth – that life is a series of now moments, and within each one lies the potential for peace, love, and renewal. Think about it -  every heartbeat, every breath, every smile, every tear, every victory – all are part of this beautiful, fleeting moment called now.   Friends, It’s the only time we truly have.  The past is gone; the future is uncertain.  But this moment – this one right here – is ours.     Let’s choose to anchor ourselves in the present and experience the miracle of life happening right now. Living in the now isn’t about ignoring responsibilities or challenges, its about meeting them with presence and compassion.  Its about realizing that even in hardship, there is a lesson, a chance to grow, and a moment to cherish. Imagine the peace that comes when you stop rushing, and listen to your own breath. Feel the warmth of the sunshine on your face, the laughter of a loved one, the simple taste of your favorite food    Living fully in the present is a gentle surrender, a conscious choice to accept life as it is, with all its beauty and imperfections.  And in that acceptance, mind you friends, there is freedom. Freedom from regret, from anxiety, from the endless chase for more.  Instead, we find contentment deep, abiding and real. Now let’s see how we can carry this gift into our daily lives?  Here are a few gentle reminders.·      Pause and breathe.·      Be fully present.·      Practice gratitude.·      See nature unfolding.·      Embrace impermanence.·      Connect deeply.Remember, living in the now is a gentle art – One that requires patience, kindness and practice.  But each small step rewires our hearts to find joy in what is, rather than what isn’t. Friends,As you listen to me today,  I want you to carry this truth with you, you are alive in this moment.  That’s all you truly ever have  -  ‘The gift of Now’. No matter your age, your circumstances, or your fears, this moment is a doorway to peace, to love, to renew.  It’s never too late to start again, to live more fully. And I invite you to make a promise to your self; to return to this gift of now, everyday,  to pause, breathe and truly be present.  Because in doing so, you will find a mine  of strength, joy and purpose that never runs dry. T Until we meet again, I’m Leena Madan signing of encouraging you to live fully, and cherish the gift of  ‘NOW’.
