The passage shows that while earthly leaders chase control and provision, God is actively seeking to restore hearts—calling His people to bold faith even in difficult circumstances.

Dr. Mika Edmondson. In 1 Kings 17:1–6, we see that no king or system defines reality—only God’s Word reigns. While Ahab trusted in control and resources, Elijah trusted in the authority of God’s Word, which also refines us through seasons of vulnerability and dependence. In the end, the Word that reigns and refines is the same Word that redeems and faithfully provides for His people. 

A Living Hope: What Jesus Gives, Nobody Can Take Away. Today’s sermon is based on Christ’s resurrection. Our scripture reading comes from 1 Peter 1:3–5, given by Rev. Dr. Mika Edmondson. Life has a way of stripping away what we thought was secure, but as 1 Peter 1:3–5 reminds us, through the resurrection of Jesus we are given a living hope that cannot be taken away. Peter wrote to believers facing death, yet their hope endured because it was rooted in a living Savior—we are tethered to Christ, so as long as He lives, we live. This hope secures a lasting inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. Everything in this world fades, but what Jesus gives does not—our hope is alive, our future is secure, and in Him, we have what can never be taken away. 

Won't You Be My Neighbor, a complimentary sermon based on John 12:12-19 given by Rev. Dr. Mika Edmondson. John 12:12–19 reveals Jesus as the Heralded King, praised by the crowds as the giver of life who conquers death. Yet He is also the Hidden King, whose purpose is not fully understood—His timing, methods, and fulfillment of Scripture unfolding beyond human insight. At the same time, He is the Hated King, opposed by the Pharisees who cannot stop His rising influence. This passage presents an unstoppable King and asks: how do you see Him?

To Live a Beautiful Life, a  sermon based on Proverbs 4:1-9 given by Professor of Theology & Religion, Steve Guthrie.Proverbs 4:1–9 is a father’s call to listen closely to wise instruction and to treasure wisdom above everything else, because it leads to protection, honor, and a flourishing life. The passage also guides us to ask three important questions that move us toward a beautiful life: Are you listening? To whom are you listening? And what do you want? As we pursue wisdom with intention, it shapes our direction and ultimately the kind of life we live.

Don't Envy the wicked, a  sermon based on Proverbs 3:31-35 given by  Dir. of Family Life, Cody Balfour.In Proverbs 3:31–35, we’re reminded that God’s boundaries are an expression of His love, leading us toward wisdom and away from harm. We should not envy the wicked, because while their lives may seem appealing, affliction is better than wickedness—it draws us closer to God. Affliction attracts His grace, while wickedness invites His judgment, and those who walk in humility experience His favor.

Won't You Be My Neighbor, a complimentary sermon based on Proverbs 3:27-30 given by Rev. Dr. Mika Edmondson. Since God has been the best neighbor to us by generously pouring out His goodness, we are called to do the same for others—without delay, with intentional care, and in ways that promote peace and success for our neighbors.

This sermon is given by   Dr. Christina Edmondson, based on Matthew 7:24-29.In Gospel of Matthew 7:24–29, Jesus Christ teaches that the wise person hears His words and obeys, building on the rock so they stand firm in life’s storms. The foolish person hears but does not act, building on sand and collapsing under pressure. The storm reveals the foundation, and Jesus is the true authority and the Rock.
