He completed the majority of his higher medical and surgical training in the UK before being invited to Australia to undertake a Robotic Surgical Fellowship at Fiona Stanley Hospital under the supervision of Professor Hayne and Associate Professor Brown. Upon completing his fellowship, he was appointed as a Consultant at the same institution.Beyond his clinical practice, Dominic has undertaken humanitarian medical work in Tanzania, Zambia, and Ethiopia through various surgical charities. He is passionate about the continued advancement of robotic surgery, particularly its potential applications in clinical, remote, and space medicine.Outside his medical profession, he enjoys climbing, ski-touring, kitesurfing, and learning to fly — pursuits that reflect his spirit of exploration both inside and outside the operating theatre.

In 2007, he entered Melbourne’s food industry with "Tiffins," a venture that appeared successful but faced hidden financial challenges. Learning from this, Mikhil transitioned into the cleaning industry, founding "High Clean" in 2013, which evolved into "FAMASO" in 2019. Today, FAMASO stands as one of Australia's leading periodical services companies, known for its innovative approach to maintenance and cleaning across high-profile sites nationwide. Its success stems from a commitment to unique health and safety processes, cutting-edge technology, and an unwavering dedication to professionalism. In 2022, KTV Working Drone Norway launched the world’s first drone cleaning technology, revolutionizing the high-risk cleaning industry much like Uber did for transportation. Mikhil secured the rights to bring KTV Working Drones to Australia, making it one of the first countries outside Norway to adopt this groundbreaking technology. In July 2023, he further expanded the venture by securing the rights for KTV Working Drones in India. The introduction of this technology in Australia marks a significant milestone, as KTV Working Drones has become the first company to successfully commercialize drone cleaning across multiple industries. Looking ahead, KTV Working Drones India is set to launch in 2025, bringing this technology to the world's largest democracy with a vision to make a substantial impact.

Dr. Michael Lucas is an accomplished inventor with several patents to his name, spanning agricultural products, beverage trays, software, robotics, materials handling, and oil processing. Holding a PhD in Mechatronics Engineering, with a focus on modular mobile robotics and the anthropology of designers, he also possesses an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering specializing in product and systems design and manufacture. His academic background is complemented by diplomas in computer graphics, animation, and IT. As a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of Engineers Australia, Dr. Lucas brings a wealth of expertise to his field. Dr. Lucas has made significant contributions to various industries. Most recently, he has been instrumental in accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy at Tesla, where he played a key role in building the machines that build the machines. His earlier career highlights include contributing to Woolworths' landmark MSRDC automated grocery distribution center, leading Hydrodec’s global engineering team, and developing cutting-edge robotics, computer vision, and AI systems for CHEP/Brambles. Additionally, he has worked with manufacturing industry clients at Dematic on a variety of bespoke projects. Beyond his technical achievements, Dr. Lucas has demonstrated leadership in professional circles. He has chaired professional bodies, including one with over 27,000 members, and has been recognized for his early career contributions, including chairing the inaugural International Young Professionals Summit. His accolades include being named Australian Young Professional Engineer of the Year and three-time finalist for Young Australian of the Year. My guest today is Joseph Kenrick! (Episode 159)
Joseph Kenrick is Technical Director of the ELO2 Consortium and heads up the Lunar Outpost Oceania office, based in Melbourne, Australia. He holds a Master's Degree in Space Resources and a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering with a Minor in Economics from the Colorado School of Mines. Joseph worked as Reservoir and Production Engineer in the oil and gas industry for several years before transitioning to the space industry. During his master’s studies, Joseph conducted research on mining water and regolith on the lunar surface. At Lunar Outpost, he played a vital role in various projects, including NASA’s Break the Ice Challenge, the Autonomous Site Preparation: Excavation, Compaction and Testing Rover, and the Cislunar Logistics Center (a partnered project with the United States Air Force). Currently, Joseph is spearheading the ELO2 Consortium’s technical and project efforts to develop an autonomous lunar excavator for the Australian Space Agency's Moon to Mars Trailblazer Program, which will be the country's first mission to the Moon. Joseph also leads the commercialisation of the company’s space robotic systems for use in extreme environments on Earth.

My guest today is Peter Milani! (Episode 158)
Peter Milani is the founder and managing director of Ichor Autonomy. He has a Masters in Engineering and is a veteran roboticist. He has been developing robots in industry and research institutions for over 12 years. He was an original member of Emesent Pty Ltd, a CSIRO spinout, specialising in UAV GPS-denied autonomy, mapping and perception. He was a member of the CSIRO Data61 DARPA SubTerranean Challenge Team, developing UAV perception and autonomy inputs. He was also the first Lead Engineer of Swarmfarm Robotics, an agricultural robotics startup, and automated their first two UGV prototypes. Peter also served full-time as a General Service Officer in the Australian Army for 13 years, as both a Combat and Logistics Officer before separating and working in heavy mining with BMA in the Bowen Basin.

Dawid Croucamp, the Director and founder of DCNETWORX Robotics Automation Company, a seasoned Robotics Engineer with 24 years of experience. He studied electronic engineering and completed a 5-year Instrument Mechanician trade. Dawid spent a decade overseas working on large-scale projects, installing robotic systems for prominent clients such as BMW in Germany, Jaguar in England, VW in Italy, and projects in China and Detroit, Michigan. After installing hundreds of robot systems worldwide, he moved to Australia in 2006, where he worked as a Robotics integrator and developer in Sydney for nine years. In 2019, he established DCNETWORX as a PTY company.

My guest today is Jason Hampton-Taylor! (Episode 154)
Jason Hampton-Taylor is the Sales Manager for LYRO Robotics. LYRO is a Brisbane-based tech startup and award-winning pioneer in the world of robotic vision, specialising in the field of AI-powered pick-and-pack solutions. Jason has been involved with technical business development for over 30 years. He worked in London for 12 years facilitating colour management for proofing systems in the advertising industry then returned to Australia in 2002 to start a giclee printing Art Gallery in Byron Bay. Jason has worked with Autodesk and SolidWorks dealerships and helped launch both the Ultimaker and Markforged 3D printer brands to the Australian market. In 2019 Jason travelled to Las Vegas to help the start-up Haddington Dynamics launch their 3D-printed cobot arm by initiating a strategy of distributed manufacturing via microfactories. The first microfactory was set up in Toowoomba by DCISIV Technologies and four more were subsequently set up across the US and Mexico. Haddington Dynamics was acquired for US$25 million in late 2020 by Ocado Technology. More recently Jason has been working with DCISIV to market their cobot welding solutions in Australia before joining LYRO Robotics.

Tony is a Business Development and Commercialisation Manager in CSIRO’s Data 61. He currently leads development of several strategic industry relationships / projects, and the commercialisation of various CSIRO technologies. Tony has lead BD & C initiatives and major bids in Australian universities for a decade including with University of Queensland, James Cook University, University of Technology Sydney, and Western Sydney University. Before joining CSIRO in April 2023, Tony was Associate Director Enterprise Partnerships at the University of Queensland, also holding role of Innovation Broker. In 2021, Tony lead industry engagement and business development for UQ's Protected Cropping and Sustainable Future Cities collaborative research initiatives. In 2022, he established a university wide Business Development Community of Practice, chairing the CoP until his departure. In 2019, while with James Cook University, Tony received a Vice Chancellors award of achievement, in Innovation & Change, for outstanding contribution to JCU’s strategic intent. In 2016/17, while at University Technology Sydney, Tony led planning and negotiations, with multiple parties including NSW Office of Premier & Cabinet and Defence Science and Technology Group, for the successful establishment of the NSW Defence Innovation Network (NSW DIN).Prior to employment in universities Tony worked as audio engineer including as research engineer with Dolby Laboratories and part of the team that designed and delivered Dolby’s first voice conference phone. At Dolby, Tony individually designed and led various research experiments, for the Dolby Chief Scientist and other research groups, building equipment and delivering data sets crucial to the design of valuable company technologies. Tony has a Master of Audio and Acoustics, from Sydney University and spent an earlier decade as a broadcast technician in Australian television and radio, building and managing outside broadcast audio systems and RF links.
