121. Has the Online Course Bubble Burst?
Once seen as an easy way to make a passive income, have online courses become a thing of the past with AI? In this episode, I'm digging into how the online course industry has shifted dramatically — and what we can do as creators to adapt.I take you back through the rise of online courses, from my early days of unlisted YouTube videos and PowerPoint walkthroughs to the proliferation of platforms like Teachable, Kajabi, and Thinkific. With course completion rates sitting at just 3–6%, the promise of passive income rarely matched reality for most of us. And then came AI. When tools like ChatGPT can summarise an entire course sales page in seconds for free, the traditional "gated expertise" model just doesn't hold up the way it once did and what your options are in the future. In this episode I cover:Why the classic $997 course with 55 videos and 37 worksheets has had its dayThe growing value of community, personalisation, and accountability over content aloneHow certification-backed courses continue to grow and why I'm still running ads in that spaceUsing tools like Chatbase, Voiceflow, or Botpress to turn your existing course content into an AI-powered botThe platform Skool as a space for community-led learningWhy showing up as yourself is your biggest competitive advantage in an AI-driven worldWant to get in touch? 95. From Frazzled to Fabulous, how this working mama got her groove back
What I've been up to for the past 4.5 months... Selling, buying, moving, holidays, starting school, extra dance classes and being away 4 weeks in a row, I realised I had to stop. I don't often talk too much about being a mum in business, that's because many of my clients don't have kids, or they have older kids, or step kids. I don't see it as part of my cornerstone of my brand, it's just who I am. Sometimes it comes up, sometimes it doesn't. I hope that this might help you in a time management sense so that if you've been feeling out of sorts, whether you're a "full time worker, part time hustler" or "working carer" you can get your groove back too!
