Science says, take the damn vacation!
Happy Holi...I want a day off! But seriously...This week we're sipping on the unrealistic social narrative that people actually get to take a holiday during the holidays. And while it would be great if that was the reality, we'll come back to earth a bit and discuss the benefits of taking vacation time. Including tips and science-based suggestions on how how to optimize that time, whether you have 24 hours or 24 days of Christmas. And, regardless of when you actually get to take some time off, these tips can help you both optimize and extend the health and wellness benefits that come from taking some time for ourselves. *Dislaimer: I apologize for not including the breadth of end-of-year holidays. I am always interested to learn about new cultural celebrations and would love to hear about any important holidays that I missed or I should be attentive to during this time of year!

Happy Virtue Signaling *Excuse me... Holidays
Have you seen influencers posting those cringe videos of them sticking their camera in someone's face to record the person's "Thank you" for their "good deed" or service? Maybe it bugs me more than anyone else... but I couldn't keep my mouth shut this week about this one. *Disclaimer: this is not a jab at those who are doing good deeds and want to spread the feeling of joy throughout the holidays and show how heart-warming it can be to give to others, this is directed at those acting gratuitously with the PRIMARY goal of receiving likes and social praise or status as a result of their behavior. Gratitude Studies: For anyone wanting some ideas on how to give back this holiday/any time of the season, I've listed some great organizations to get involved with. Feel free to share and I will be sure to give any that you humans feel strongly about a (quick look-over) and shout out :) https://www.charitywatch.org
