Taking A Closer Look

Have you ever felt tired or perhaps more tired than usual?  What about achy or sore or like you just cannot bounce back feeling overrun and weak?  If so, then you might not be sick or battling some kind of illness, no, the culprit might be something your body needs but is no longer getting.  Vitamin D is responsible for a great deal of the processes found within the human body ranging from our mood to our muscles then to our mental sharpness as well too and still many others, but when we are not producing this critical vitamin, we suffer in many ways.  Our modern society that has made wonderful strides forward in terms of advancements, while enjoying these, at the same time due to those "improvements," is struggling to get enough of this crucial component to life that comes directly from the sun primarily.  We are witnessing a growing global epidemic centered around our lack of vitamin d today being a worldwide phenomenon.  This episode is going to address this hoping to bring about some awareness and also seek to provide some helpful tips on how to obtain more of this ever-crucial vitamin.  

This episode will focus on the fact that numbers do not lie as we commonly hear in the world today.  We can trust numbers and know that 1+1 will always equal 2.  This is comforting for us and lets us know we can have confidence in them, but when it comes to the miracles of Jesus, we can actually apply the same principle to show how He was able to do the impossible because numbers do not lie.  John 11 details specific facts that reveal what was taking place but with the help of physics, physiology and some calculations we are shown the unmistakable reality of what happened on that day.  Jesus displayed a power that no other human being has ever displayed revealing to us exactly who He was and is even to this day.  The people came to believe in Him, but His enemies were even more opposed to Him after this point where this miracle serves as the tipping point that would eventually result in the crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday.  We hope you enjoy this show!!!

Today's show is going to introduce the topic and principle of Cause and Effect.  This is a foundational issue, but one that far too many people are not aware of or do not give enough thought to leading to negative issues here and now.  Those can be cleared up and more when we start to think along the lines of cause and effect.  It can help us in our day to day lives by solving problems through this way of thinking.  This is one benefit but perhaps more importantly when we get to our lives of faith it can help to ground us in what is true seeing that in order for there to be something, it had to be created and caused by a Being that has infinite power and wisdom due to the complexity of what has been created.  This topic can be challenging but we try to keep things clear and simple.  We hope you enjoy!!!

In the 5th chapter of Genesis we are presented with an interesting concept and idea being one that sparks the imagination!  Enoch was a man that lived a blessed life and became someone that was committed to not only listening to God but also following His ways being an example of what it means to be devoted.  He wasn't someone that just went through the motions, no, his devotion went deeper than that and this is what we are going to focus on today by examining what happened to him as a result of his faithfulness.  It is such an encouraging account, we hope you enjoy!!!

With what is happening around the world we are going to try and provide some insight into what has taken place throughout history resulting in what we are seeing today.  Our world is not new, and these nations are not either, no they have a long, long storied history that takes us all the way through history but also the Bible bringing us to the book of Genesis.  Interestingly enough the beginning can be found there so long ago coming from a family.  In this episode we introduce some of these matters hoping to provide some helpful information.  

When we set out to read the Bible do we know the main message it contains and the overall theme that it is presenting to us?  While many might, there is also a large percentage of us that do not know and because of that we struggle with understanding and gaining that confidence as a result.  This episode will help by identifying this for our audience showing how everything comes together once we see this one overarching truth that is laid out for us in the pages of Scripture.  We hope you enjoy!!!

This episode is going to address something that we are rarely taught or encouraged to do and offer in this life giving someone a 2nd chance.  No, we are shown that we should have "no mercy," offer "no compassion," give no "2nd chances," and forgiveness.  It is a sad reality that we all too often experience but that is not what the Bible teaches and that is seen in many places but also in a section we would not expect to find it because it is seen with Cain from the story of Cain and Abel.  He is given a 2nd chance by God and that is something we certainly need to Take A Closer Look at and will do so in this show.  Enjoy!!!

In this episode we are going to emphasize something we all struggle with as human beings feeling the pull to be drawn to drama but specifically drama resulting in conflict.  For some reason we all are drawn to this and must become aware that this is the case and is found all the way back at the beginning of our story.  The account dealing with Cain and Abel shows how strong this desire is, but we must master it just like God said revealing the kind of power we all possess.  We cover that and much more in this episode.  

We are going to focus on two areas that present us with challenges and issues in our lives focusing on our thoughts and emotions and how those many times impact us in very negative ways.  In the story of Cain and Abel these are addressed where we are shown the trouble that comes to Cain because of these but also the way to deal with them and overcome through the actions we take, not allowing our thoughts and emotions to rule over our lives.  We can learn how to practice self-control through the help that the Lord provides for us.  This is in no way an exhaustive look into these issues but simply hopes to introduce them as a starting point so we can begin to move forward.  

In this episode we try to shine some light on the topic of success and how it can be achieved in our lives.  Are there quick methods that produce it, are there short cuts we can take in order to speed up our ability to acquire success?  The answer should not shock us but many times it does just that and in the process might produce some resistance too.  That is one of the questions we try to tackle and much more as we take a look into this very pressing issue.

With it being Christmas time we have been focusing on the promises that were made to Mary and Joseph about the Child that was to be born.  Both of them were told that they would be the parents of the Son of the Most High being Emmanuel and they listened and accepted the Word of God being wonderful examples of faith for us, but we also looked at where the beginning of this story found its start and that takes us back.  Back in time all the way back to the very beginning itself being found in the book of Genesis.  It is here that the original promise was made and it has everything to do with Christmas.  Enjoy!!!

In this episode we provide some helpful tips and information that will help people begin reading their Bibles in the upcoming year.  Many of us are intimidated when we think about actually reading through Scripture, but when we break it down and use the tools that we have access to today that daunting task becomes a real possibility.  

We are beginning to focus on the holiday of Christmas trying to highlight why it is so special.  God provides the world with the greatest gift it could ever hope to receive and that is stated in multiple places within the Bible.  The strange part is that even though we hear it and can understand what it is saying, we still find it difficult to accept because it sounds too good to be true.  I think we have all felt that feeling before but that is where the idea of a gift comes into view.  When someone gives us gifts, we all know that means and the same is true with God too.  

Our attitude matters and that is especially true with Thanksgiving coming up.  In this episode we used the story of Cain and Abel to help us see just how important this is not only in our day to day lives but also with how we view God.  We all have so much to be thankful for and must see it and offer God heartfelt thanks and gratitude during this holiday season and beyond.  

In this episode we are going to take a closer look at the closing verse in Genesis chapter 3 which contains a reference to something that we might have heard before and seen through many different portrayals and depictions not all of which are accurate though and that can create problems.  It will require us mentioning a little something about angels today with this being a fun topic and one that sparks our imaginations too but at the same time we must strive for accuracy.  The term cherubim, is one that we might be somewhat familiar with but is what we know about them Biblically sound?  That is what we are going to focus on today among other things.  

In this episode we take a closer look at what is described in the 105th Psalm.  Control is an issue we all contend with in our lives, but we must reach the point where we understand the One that is actually in control.  This is a scary thought but when we begin to understand then we begin to feel a sense of calm come to us knowing that this One is more than capable and that is wonderful news.  

In this episode we continue with what we have been covering dealing with the Fallout after the man and woman fell from a state of innocence and grace.  They would go on to experience consequences but even in the midst of these difficulties they would also receive incredible blessings and with that we are taught an amazing lesson.  We deal with pain and suffering throughout our lives but if we stay the course and go through it then on the other side when it is said and done, we receive the gift in the form of a wonderful blessing being.  It is worth it and that will come through this show.  

In this episode we will pick up where we left off in Episode 9 seeing how we all face adversity and trouble here in this life.  It is not out of the ordinary and we can face it and even overcome those trials, but there are times where we might not know what to do and reach the place where we need help.  This is something we all encounter sometimes and that is ok.  There is nothing wrong with needing help.  In fact, we are in luck because God has given us help in the form of His Word.  Today we are going to try to offer some insight into where we can turn in order to receive this most amazing wisdom that is meant for our own good.  

A we live our lives we must understand that we are not living in the world spoken of in Genesis 1 & 2, which was a time of perfection where nothing bad could happen.  No, we are living in what happened in Genesis 3 which shows how the man and woman fell and once that happened it ushered in the time that we now know even though we still want to live as if we are in chapters 1 & 2.  This becomes a problem because when we have an idea or expectations and preconceived notions of how things should be or go, when we come to the reality it is much different.  Many times, we dream of things going right and never do entertain the possibility of something going wrong, but we need to know that adversity is built into the life we now live and it will find us no matter what we think and that needs to be accepted so we can begin to learn how to deal with it and much more.  

We are going to spend a little time focusing on "needs," vs. "wants," in this episode which is not a fun topic to address but is a crucial one.  So many times, in our lives chaos is either unleashed upon us or it is not far away strictly because we have already chosen to do what we "want," rather than first tackling what we "need," to do and because of that we experience trouble.  Once the "need," is finished and crossed off the list then we can start having some fun doing the things we "want," to do, but it all happens once we get started.  Don't wait!!!

In today's episode we are going to talk about the importance for us to be social practicing social skills because it is not good for man to be alone and yet that seems to be on the rise today.  People are experiencing isolation and loneliness perhaps more so now than ever before.  That is not a good development but there are things that we can do in order to help and even fight back against this trend, but it begins with awareness.  

We are going to focus on what it means to cultivate something in this episode.  We live in a fast-paced society that seems to be moving faster and faster where the concept of taking the time to cultivate something is all but lost and that is not a positive.  We must learn what it means to work toward something, a goal or even a friendship practicing patience as we do and if we can stay the course then we will be better as a result.   

We are going to be taking a closer look at an emotion we all experience and feel in our lives, but the complexities and difficulties arise and come our way when we set out to express this all too often misunderstood emotion. We are talking about anger.  Anger is something that many times is misconstrued and misrepresented in the world, we are hoping to clear some of that up.  This is a topic that requires a great deal of care.  We understand which is why we have handled it responsibly for our listeners.  

In this episode we are going to focus on the nervous system and how our grip strength and balance become increasingly more important as we age and get older.  By addressing these two things we are helping to improve out quality of life and will have confidence to be able to live and live a more fulfilling and dynamic life even well into old age.  

We are going to focus on a region in the world that is known as the Fertile Crescent.  Many nations have arisen from this area some of which were massive like the ancient Egyptian Empire that gave us the pyramids and many other treasures.  This would not have been possible if it were not for the abundance due to the fertility of the land.  Other things will be discussed along the way too!!!

I wanted to focus on the Bible in Episode 2 but not providing my point of view as to why this is an important book, instead look to other people.  I wanted to show how 3 different men who are different ages and from different walks of life and professions have all begun to reach the same conclusion about the Bible.  They have all begun to publicly say that this is an essential Book that everyone should not only read but study because the things that it shares are for our good.  When we read it and begin to follow what it says, the blessings flow.  

This first episode is dedicated to explaining the format for our show but also providing the reason for why I decided to create this podcast in the first place.  We lay out different reasons and possible pathways forward all in the name of clarity and hoping to provide accurate information in an entertaining way.
