Episode 57 : Cikgu Emmet Menulis
Hello, friends! This is the first episode for the year 2025!In this special episode, I sit down with Cikgu Ahmad Fayzal / "Cikgu Emmet Menulis", a passionate educator and storyteller, to reflect on his remarkable teaching journey that began in the early '90s when he was posted to SK Lichok, deep in the heart of Sarawak. As a Malay from West Malaysia, Cikgu Emmet shares what it was like being an outsider learning to live and work among the Iban community, and how embracing local culture helped him understand, respect, and eventually become part of the very fabric of the community he served. We also talk about what it means to be a teacher in the 21st century, especially in a world dominated by AI, digital tools, and a shift away from traditional chalk-and-talk methods. Cikgu Emmet emphasizes how teachers today are no longer just providers of knowledge, but facilitators of learning, and shares actionable tips on staying productive and relevant in the classroom. And finally, we dive into a critical issue affecting our students today: the rising obsession with becoming content creators, sometimes even at the cost of completing SPM. We explore how the Ministry of Education can play a role by introducing structured programs like podcast or digital content competitions in schools. This episode is a must-listen for educators, students, and anyone who believes in the power of storytelling, cultural empathy, and educational reform."Real Life Stories, From Real People" - this is the barryanakbarim podcast.

Episode 38: Icebreaker (Deeper Talk) featuring Niven and Emma
Hello, friends! Welcome to the 38th episode of the podcast. It is an impromptu episode whereby I was actually on an audio test for another recording tomorrow and it's a two-guest set up so I brought in Niven and Emma for a sound check, and decided later on to have Icebreaker as our sound-check content but little did we know that it flowed very damn well. No visuals as well cause like I've mentioned, it is all impromptu. Haha. Enjoy the thought-provoking questions that we've had and I hope that some of the answers do resonate with your life, too. That is the essence of the podcast, in bringing something home as a takeaway to your life. What song best defines your lives? Mahal li harga ticket Taylor Swift, dapat beli beer. "In heaven there is no beer~" Meaning of life? Beer is life. Finding own happiness. Live life without regrets. Once you're done exploring is when you die. I'm bad in remembering books that I've read. Episode 36: "Just Saying Podcast" with Natasha Juan & Yusuf Shukri
Hello, friends! Welcome to the podcast! This episode features two interesting guests who were once a radio announcer of Malaysia’s famous purple-coloured radio station based in Sarawak. Introducing Natasha Juan and Yusuf Shukri, former radio jockeys who are now podcasters (like me hehe). This podcast episode talks about their experience in broadcasting, and also about our relationship with our pasts, our family members, and where we're heading towards in the future. This episode is also available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. A hearty lunch I had bro. A very pork person! Radio gave us a playground I was a timid when young Growing up & conscious about my thoughts. I started being outgoing after college. The podcast is a breath of fresh air. The “justsaying” is raw, relatable & with values. The podcast isn’t curated. I’m not an Iban, bro… Shout-out to product China! Afick makes the whole work easier for the podcast What rules were made to be broken as a child? People will wake me up in the bus I wore a pinafore to the cybercafe. I played tiang in school. I go to the cybercafe alone Anything but numbers as career, hence radio. Hard lessons in life bring values in you. I kept my talents hidden. I didn’t like being competitive. The only competition I have is myself. My mum and I didn’t see eye to eye but we fought for the relationship. I started running away from home since young My mum is the water of the volcanic eruption. The dream I had at Wrong Place was indescribable My mum and I vibe well I love my mum, don’t get me wrong Grateful that my parents are still with me I don’t want to work in KL. Conversation with my mum was hard Tasha has the qualities to go above and beyond than staying in Kuching. Leaving Hitz was an impulse decision If I’m not happy, how can I keep on pretending to be one? I felt empty. If you don’t quit now, you wouldn’t know what you’re capable of. I reached the final straw of my career. No TikTok videos. I hate the attention Traumatic experience was when I was sexually abused online. “50 Shades of Natasha” I’ve never done anything for myself I want him with Hitz! The first person I had for the pod is Natasha You don’t have to be mean to make a point. I took a backseat from TikTok & Twitter. I “might” love being a cabin crew You can find money anywhere, anytime but not relationships. Kuching has the talent like those in KL. I’m happy, and I am at that point of life. I need to improve my health tho! Life is too short for people to grow up. And age is just a number. Joachim is another podcaster that we know in Kuching. I don’t want my future child to end up like me. Branded stuff is just bluff. A great life, partner, everything. That is what I want. I wanna see Natasha do news reading. We were both in Mass Comm. I am not a teacher~ I’ve never written a resume before Baiklah, sekian itu sahaja!
