What is the major problem in racial division in the church? It is not CRT, BLM Christian Nationalism. Nor is it what side of the aisle one lands.  These things are contributing factors but not causal. So what is the major hindrance to racial unity in the church: DELIGHT!We don’t have primarily a race problem or a division problem. Those flow out of a DELIGHT problem. Our unwillingness to live out of a delight in the finished work of Jesus Christ.For some this will sound far too reductionistic or dismissive. With roles of leadership come responsibilities. The is true for every kind of leadership but especially moral leadership. In the last episode, Sherard discussed the prophetic role of the black church in leading the church in unity.  Now, in provocative and challenging ways, he calls the black church to the prophetic responsibilities required for such leadership. Stop using the term "racism" NOW!  It has too much historical baggage and, too often, it is a label attached exclusively to the white culture. What if the division in the church today was perpetuated by all sides? What if the real challenges to unity were not merely the historical factors of American history, but were rooted in actions and passions and feelings that are true for people in every culture?  The reason this issue of division has been discussed for so long with very little movement is due, in large part, to our varying and often antithetical understanding of the term racism.
