Why Your Obstacles Multiply When You're Ready to Cross
The Threshold Crossing Guide: pamelasylvan.comSummaryIn this conversation, Pamela Sylvan discusses the metaphor of the Hydra as a representation of the fears and doubts that arise when one is on the verge of significant personal transformation. She emphasizes that these challenges are not signs to turn back but rather indicators that one is close to crossing a threshold. By identifying the various 'heads' of the Hydra, such as timing, competence, and safety, listeners are encouraged to recognize and confront their fears. Sylvan provides strategies for moving forward despite these challenges, ultimately framing the Hydra as a guardian of the threshold that tests one's commitment to change.TakeawaysThe Hydra appears when you're about to complete something important.Resistance is a natural part of crossing thresholds. You can't defeat the Hydra by addressing every fear individually. The battle is with your willingness to keep moving forward. The appearance of the Hydra is evidence of proximity to crossing.Identifying the heads of the Hydra helps in recognizing fears. You can move while afraid and still achieve your goals. The Hydra is not your enemy; it's a guardian of the threshold.Crossing the threshold is a transformative experience. The version of you waiting on the other side is worth the struggle.

How to Trigger The Freedom In Your 2nd & 3rd Half Of Life
Jay Joseph Duncan, is a first generation West Indian. She was born in Vancouver BC to her Trinidadian parents. Teaching brought her father to Canada and the family settled in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island when she was 3 years old. In 1981, Jay moved to Victoria to obtain a psychology education then a business certificate specializing in marketing. Jay has been passionate about supporting people through emotionally vulnerable events and for the past 21 years has worked as a Birth Doula and Childbirth educator in the Greater Victoria area. She is proud to have served over 500 families during the births of their babies. It was a job you never got bored of because each person, family and birthing experience was so unique. Jay remains a staunch advocate for the diversity of birthing families and has begun her journey of a Community Herbalist in order to use her knowledge to benefit those going through their birthing and postpartum journeys. She has been married to her Calgary born husband, Nick for the past 27 years and have brought two amazing children into this world who are now young adults. Jay rounds out her life pursuing art, hiking with her dog, cycling, skiing, going to movies, enjoying good food and belly laughs with family and friends and being greatful that she’s able to wake up in a gorgeous place like Victoria everyday.
