Two Baptists and a Mormon Walk Into a Pentecostal Church

Two Baptists and a Mormon Walk Into a Pentecostal Church isn’t a joke—it’s our real story. Three friends from different faith backgrounds share how we ended up in the same Spirit-filled church. We wrestle with theology, healing, and the wild work of the Holy Spirit—with humor, honesty, and hope. From speaking in tongues to church hurt, we’re not experts—we’re just trying to follow Jesus together. If you’ve ever felt too weird for church or too churchy for the world… you’ll fit right in.

    Episode 28: Baptisim

Sprinkled or immersed. Infant or believer. Symbol or sacrament. Trinitarian formula or Jesus name only. Baptism is the one practice every Christian tradition holds in common and almost none of them agree on. This episode takes all four debates seriously. We walk through the key texts, the strongest arguments on every side, and the places where each tradition in this room has the clearest footing and the weakest ground. We also give full treatment to the Oneness Pentecostal formula question and the LDS theology of baptism as an essential priesthood ordinance, including the practice of baptism for the dead from 1 Corinthians 15:29 that most of Christianity has never sat with long enough to understand. Whatever you believe about the water, you will leave this conversation knowing why you believe it and what the person across the aisle believes and why.

Episode 27 -Marketplace Ministry: Finding your purpose outside the 4 walls of the church

Most Christians have been handed a version of faith that puts Sunday at the center and everything else at the edges. Church is sacred. Work is secular. Ministry is what pastors and missionaries do. Monday through Friday is just how you pay for the weekend. This episode challenges that framework at its root. We loop our kiddos in on this one! Your job is not a distraction from your calling. It might be your calling. The Bible does not divide life into sacred and secular categories. It does not design the church to be the primary location of Kingdom activity. It designs His people to be carriers of the Kingdom into every space they occupy, including and especially their places of work, business, and daily life. We dig into what Scripture actually says about vocation, stewardship, and the theology of work. We look at the Hebrew word for tending the garden in Genesis 2, which turns out to be the same word used for worship throughout the Old Testament. We walk through the biblical figures God used most powerfully, and almost none of them were priests. Joseph ran a government. Nehemiah managed a construction project. Esther navigated a royal court. Lydia ran a textile business. Aquila and Priscilla made tents. We also ask the harder question: what does it actually look like to live as a Kingdom representative in spaces that are not religious? Not as a program. Not as a church initiative. But as a way of being present, excellent, honest, and genuinely human in the places where most of life actually happens. If you have ever felt guilty for not being in full time ministry, this episode is for you. If you have ever wondered whether what you do Monday through Friday actually matters to God, this episode is for you. If you have ever sat in a church service and felt like your real life was somewhere else, this episode is for you. Your workplace is not where you wait until your real life begins. It is your assignment.

Episode 26: Accountability vs. Legalism: When Church Discipline Goes Wrong

Accountability is biblical. Legalism is dangerous. And the line between them is thinner than most churches want to admit. In this episode we dig into Matthew 18, the process Jesus gave for handling sin in the church, and ask the hard question: how did something so clearly designed for restoration become one of the primary sources of church hurt in people's lives? We talk about what healthy correction actually looks like, what spiritual abuse actually is, and how to recognize the difference when you are in the middle of it and your emotions are loud and your leadership is confident and you are not sure who to trust. We bring our three different church backgrounds into the conversation and we do not pretend any of our traditions has a clean record on this.  We just love digging into the Word and seeing what He says.

  4. 28

Episode 25 - Generational Curses: Are believers still subject to generational curses, or did the cross settle it?

Is a generational curse real — or is it one of the most misused concepts in the modern church? In this episode, a Baptist, another Baptist, and a guy who used to be Mormon walk into the most controversial topic we have tackled yet. We dig into the Old Testament texts that started this whole conversation, the New Testament texts that seem to shut it down, and the real-life patterns that make everyone unsure what to believe. We talk about Exodus 20, Ezekiel 18, Galatians 3, and the moment Jesus was asked directly whether a man's suffering was caused by his parents' sin — and what He said will surprise you. We also look at Abraham, his son, and his grandson all telling the same lie about their wives — and ask the hard question: is that a curse, or is that just what happens when sin gets modeled and nobody deals with it? We sort of all land in the same place. But stay with us to the end, because where we end might be the most important thing you hear.

Episode 24: The Bible and the Holy Spirit Working together

The Bible and the Holy Spirit Working Together Some people lean only on the Bible. Others lean only on spiritual experiences. In this episode we talk about why both approaches fall short and how Scripture and the Holy Spirit were always meant to work together. The Word without the Spirit can become rigid and lifeless. The Spirit without the Word can drift into confusion. We explore how the Holy Spirit inspired Scripture, how He illuminates it today, and how He guides believers into truth without ever contradicting what God has already spoken. We talk about discernment obedience and how to stay anchored in truth while remaining open to the Spirit’s leading. This conversation is about balance, maturity, and confidence. God has not asked us to choose between His Word and His Spirit. He has given us both to lead us into truth and transformation. If you desire a faith that is grounded, alive, and guided by God, this episode is for you. Listen and share with someone seeking clarity and spiritual balance.

Episode 23: How to apply the Bible without misusing it

How to Apply the Bible Without Misusing It Reading the Bible is one thing. Living it faithfully is another. In this episode we talk about how to apply Scripture without twisting it, weaponizing it, or using it to support ideas it was never meant to carry. We explore the difference between interpretation and application and why context matters more than convenience. We walk through common passages that are often misunderstood or misused and show how cultural setting audience and purpose shape proper application today. We also talk about the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding obedience and why Scripture was given to transform us, not to win arguments. If you have ever struggled to know what a verse really means for your life or felt hurt by Scripture being used carelessly, this episode will bring clarity and balance. The Bible is not a tool to control others. It is an invitation to be shaped by God. Listen and share with someone learning how to live the Word with humility and wisdom.

  7. 25

Episode 22: How to Study the Bible

How to Study the Bible Many people read the Bible, but fewer know how to truly study it. In this episode we slow down and walk through what it means to approach Scripture with intention, humility, and depth. Using the story of the wedding at Cana in John chapter 2, we model how to observe context, culture, language, and purpose rather than rushing to application or assumptions. We talk about how to ask better questions of the text, why details matter, and how Scripture reveals more when we take time to listen instead of skim. This episode is not about shortcuts or formulas. It is about learning to sit with the Word and let it shape how we see God, ourselves, and the story He is telling. If you have ever felt intimidated by the Bible or unsure how to move beyond surface level reading, this conversation will give you practical tools and renewed confidence. The Bible is not meant to be rushed. It is meant to be studied. Listen and share with someone who wants to go deeper in the Word.

Episode 21: Discernment in a Noisy World

There has never been more Christian content available and there has never been more confusion. In this episode we talk about discernment in a world full of opinions platforms algorithms and spiritual noise. We explore how to test what we hear without becoming cynical fearful or closed off to the Holy Spirit. We walk through Scripture to understand what biblical discernment actually is and why it is rooted in wisdom humility and truth rather than suspicion or arrogance. We talk about how social media shapes theology how influence can replace intimacy and why not every spiritual sounding message is spiritually healthy. This conversation is about learning to recognize what is from God what is from people and what is simply noise. Discernment is not about tearing others down. It is about staying anchored in truth and growing in spiritual maturity. If you want clarity in a crowded faith space this episode is for you. Listen and share with someone navigating the noise.

  9. 23

Episode 20: Hearing the Voice of God

How does God speak today and how can we know when it is really Him. In this episode we talk about what Scripture teaches about hearing the voice of God and how believers grow in spiritual sensitivity without drifting into confusion or emotionalism. We explore how God speaks through His Word the Holy Spirit and godly counsel and why familiarity with God’s character matters more than chasing spiritual experiences. We also talk about common ways people get off track and how to discern God’s voice from their own thoughts fear or outside pressure. If you have ever wondered whether God is speaking to you or struggled to trust what you are hearing this conversation will bring clarity and peace. God is not trying to hide His voice from His children. He wants to be known. Listen and share with someone who is learning to listen.

  10. 22

Episode 19: The Dirty 'S' Word: Authority, Submission & Servant Leadership

Episode 19 explores biblical authority and submission: what true submission means (voluntary yielding under God‑ordained authority for order and flourishing), how Christ models servant leadership, and the different spheres of authority in home, church, and workplace. The hosts discuss how to spot abusive or illegitimate authority, when it’s right to resist, and practical steps for leaders and those under authority—emphasizing heart posture, accountability, humility, and knowing Scripture as the ultimate guide.

  11. 21

    Episode 18: Honor vs. Worship

This episode explores the biblical difference between honor and worship, using scripture and language-root studies to show how worship is reserved for God while honor is due to people in God-given roles. The hosts discuss real-life examples—pastors, family, celebrity worship, and traditions—offering practical takeaways: test teachings against Scripture, honor without dependence, and guard your heart posture so worship stays directed to God alone.

Episode 17: Godly Parenting - Raising Children Who Know God in a Culture That Does Not

Parenting is one of the greatest gifts God gives us and one of the greatest responsibilities. In this episode we talk honestly about what it means to raise children who know God, love God, and choose God in a world that constantly pulls them in the opposite direction. We look at Scripture, share our own parenting wins and failures, and talk through the pressures families face today. We open up about discipline, discipleship, boundaries, social media, cultural influence, and how to build a home where faith is lived not just taught. We also dive into some of the tougher parenting conversations including rebellion, adult children, and how to parent together when you and your spouse have different strengths. If you are a parent, a grandparent, a future parent, or someone who wants to create a Christ centered home, this episode will encourage you and challenge you. Godly parenting is not about perfection. It is about consistency, surrender, and inviting God into the center of your family life. Listen and share with someone who is walking the parenting journey.

Episode 16 - Marriage, Ministry, and Staying Healthy in the Spotlight

Marriage is beautiful, but marriage in ministry carries unique pressure. In this episode we sit down with our wives to talk honestly about what it looks like to protect our homes while serving God publicly. We open up about the challenges of visibility, the weight of expectations, and the spiritual battles that try to come against unity in marriage. We talk about boundaries, communication, connection, and the daily choices that keep a marriage strong when life and ministry get busy. Our wives share their experiences, their struggles, and the things that help them feel supported in seasons when the spotlight gets bright and the pressure gets real. If you are married, dating, engaged, or simply wanting to build a strong future home, this conversation is for you. Marriage is not a distraction from ministry. Marriage is ministry. And when we honor what God has joined together, everything else becomes stronger. Listen and share with someone who needs encouragement today.

Episode 15 - But Even if He doesn't: Faith When God Doesn't Meet Our Expectations

This is a very real and raw episode. Get ready! Faith is easy when God answers our prayers the way we hoped. Faith becomes real when He does not. In this episode we talk about the kind of faith that stands in the fire. We look at the story of Shadrach Meshach and Abednego in Daniel chapter 3 and what it means to believe that God is able and that He will move yet still remain steadfast if He does not. We also walk through Hebrews chapter 11 Second Corinthians chapter 12 and the story of Lazarus in John chapter 11. Each of these moments shows that true faith is not tied to an outcome. It is anchored to the character of God. This episode speaks to disappointment delay and those seasons where God stays silent. If you are in the middle of unanswered prayers this conversation will remind you that your faith is not wasted and God is still working even when you cannot see it. Even if He does not He is still good He is still faithful

  15. 17

Episode 14: Spiritual Warfare-When the Battle Gets Real

Most people imagine spiritual warfare as dramatic moments or intense encounters. Scripture shows the real battle is far quieter and far closer. It happens in the mind in your identity and in what you agree with. In this episode we talk about what spiritual warfare actually is. It is not fighting people. It is not chasing the devil. It is not blaming him for everything that goes wrong. Spiritual warfare is standing in the victory Jesus already won. We explore Ephesians 6 Second Corinthians and Daniel 10 and discover that prayer obedience and truth activate movement in the unseen realm. The enemy has power but believers have authority. And authority always outranks power. You do not fight for victory You fight from it

  16. 16

Episode 13 – Stewardship & Tithing: Heart Before Hands

Is giving just an Old Testament rule—or a New Testament rhythm of worship? In this episode, we explore biblical stewardship, why God calls us to give, and how generosity reveals the posture of our heart far more than the balance of our bank account.

Episode 9 - Charismatic Worship: Wild or Wonderful

In this episode the hosts unpack charismatic worship—its bold expressions, surprising moments, and why some call it wild while others call it wonderful. They share personal stories from worship teams, altars, and fire tunnels, and discuss tongues, falling out, and the role of excellence and order. Episode 8 - Tongues, Prophecy and the Weird Stuff

A personal and biblical conversation about the spiritual gifts that often cause the most tension in the modern Church: tongues, prophecy, and unusual manifestations. Disarming fear and confusion by exploring Scripture and sharing our own stories. Encouraging believers to seek the Spirit, not just comfort or tradition.

  22. 10

Episode 7: The gifts...Ceased or Still active

In this episode, we step into one of the most debated topics in the Church—are the gifts of the Spirit still active today, or did they cease after the time of the apostles? We unpack both sides of the conversation: cessationism, which argues that tongues, prophecy, and healing were only for the early Church, and continuationism, which believes those gifts are still for today. We walk through key Scriptures used on both sides and share how our own experiences with the Holy Spirit shifted our perspectives. This isn’t just a theological debate for us—it’s personal. We've seen the gifts in action, felt the tension, and wrestled with the questions. In the end, we talk about where we landed and why we believe the gifts still matter for the Church right now. If you’ve ever been confused, skeptical, or just curious about the spiritual gifts, this episode is a great place to start the conversation.

  23. 9

    Episode 6 - Indwelling & Infilling

The Holy Spirit does more than give us moments of inspiration. He takes up residence within every believer. But what is the difference between being indwelt by the Spirit and being filled with the Spirit? In this episode, we explore what the Bible says about the Spirit's role at salvation and what it means to be filled continually as we grow in our walk with God. We share how our understanding has shifted, what we have experienced personally, and why this difference matters. If you are hungry for more of God and want to live with power and purpose, this conversation will speak to you.

  24. 8

Episode 5 - Then the Spirit Moved

Before the wind rushed through an upper room… before tongues of fire fell… the Spirit of God was already moving. From hovering over the waters in Genesis to igniting hearts in the book of Acts, the Spirit has always been active—calling, filling, leading, and transforming. In this episode, we reflect on the timeless movement of the Holy Spirit and the very personal ways we've experienced Him in our own lives. Each of us shares the moment when the Spirit broke through our religious expectations and lit something inside us that we couldn’t explain—but couldn’t ignore. This isn’t just about emotional experiences—it’s about encountering the same Spirit who’s been moving since the beginning of time. If you’ve ever wondered if there’s more to this life with God... this episode is your invitation to find out.
