In the Groove with Acey Longley and the B.E.AT.S. Foundation.
This week for my second interview of a double dose of denim, Season 1, Episode 8 Gen X Joe interviews Acey Longley, son of former Great White guitarist Ty Longley. Acey and Gen X Joe discuss his charity called B.E.A.T.S., standing for 'Bringing Everyone A Tremendous Smile'. It’s a gentle pun as Acey’s musical passion is the drums, which he has been playing since he was a toddler. The roots of Acey’s charity grew from the January 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti. LifeSpring, the Christian church that Acey and his mother attended, became involved in relief efforts. After this, he conceived something bigger right around the time of the ninth anniversary of The Station fire. He felt he wanted to help more children, this time in the United States and he wanted to honor his father. As a result, he thought young hospital patients might appreciate gifts of drumsticks, toys, action figures, dolls or gift cards. His mother Heidi reached out to contacts she’d kept in the rock world and soon, donations of drumsticks began arriving from musicians who play for KISS, Fleetwood Mac, 3 Doors Down, REO Speedwagon and other bands. As well Once Bitten (Jack Russell) and Great White themselves. This is a heartfelt interview sure to make the hardest rockers shed a tear and make your mascara run.To donate to this wonderful foundation, please visit the Amazon.com wishlist below filled with ideal donations to be donated that will be sent to P.O. Growing up in a household where melodies drifted through the halls, he discovered that music wasn't just something to listen to—it was something that could save you, define you, and give voice to feelings words alone couldn't capture. He shares the story of his first instrument, the countless hours spent in his bedroom trying to recreate the sounds that moved him, and the teachers and mentors who saw something in him before he could see it in himself. The Industry RollercoasterBut the path from passion to profession is rarely smooth. Tyson opens up about the harsh realities of breaking into the music industry—the rejection letters, the promising opportunities that dissolved into nothing, the financial struggles, and the moments when quitting seemed like the only rational option. He talks candidly about the toll the ups and downs took on his mental health and relationships, the industry gatekeepers who didn't understand his vision, and the feeling of being constantly on the outside looking in. Yet through every setback, something kept pulling him back to the music. We explore what kept the flame alive during the darkest periods and how those struggles ultimately shaped the artist he would become.Finding Home with VixenThe turning point in Tyson's story comes when he connected with Vixen. He describes the moment he knew he'd found his people—artists who understood his creative language, who pushed him to be better while accepting who he already was. Tyson reveals how joining Vixen wasn't just a career move but a homecoming, a place where his music could finally breathe and reach the audience it deserved. He discusses the collaborative process within Vixen, how the collective approach has influenced his songwriting and performance, and what it means to be part of something larger than yourself while maintaining your individual artistic identity.Looking ForwardAs we wrap up, Tyson reflects on the lessons learned from his journey and offers advice for artists still fighting their way through. Corey Eubanks: Thee Dude of Hazard
This week, we're honored to welcome a true Hollywood legend to Gen X Marks The Spot Podcast, a guest who has brought some of our most beloved action sequences to life—three-time Taurus World Stunt Award winner and the real Duke Boy himself, Corey Eubanks. At just 18 years old, Corey became the youngest stuntman in Hollywood, and his very first job was one for the history books: jumping the General Lee on The Dukes of Hazzard. That iconic orange Dodge Charger, soaring through the air every Friday night on CBS wasn't just television magic—it was Corey behind the wheel, the real Duke Boy who made those death-defying jumps look effortless. He launched a career that would span decades and define an era of action entertainment. But if you're expecting stories of celebration and fanfare, think again. Corey pulls back the curtain on what it was really like working as a stunt performer in the 1980s. There were no high fives, no congratulations, no pats on the back for a job well done. You executed the stunt, dusted yourself off, and moved on to the next one. It was a world where you learned to roll with the punches—sometimes literally—and professionalism meant showing up, delivering, and keeping the production moving forward. From those early days as the real Duke Boy on The Dukes of Hazzard, Corey went on to become one of the industry's most sought-after stunt drivers, bringing his expertise to modern blockbusters including #fastandfurious franchise and the #transformers films. His work has thrilled audiences across generations, bridging the practical stunt work of television's golden age with today's high-octane cinema. His contributions to the craft have been recognized with three Taurus World Stunt Awards—the industry's highest honor for stunt performers. Corey also shares stories about his famous father, #bobeubanks—the legendary television host of #newlywedgame and the visionary promoter who discovered @thebeatlesand brought them to the United States for their first concert, forever changing the landscape of American music and culture. So as you tune in, remember: we owe a debt of gratitude to Corey Eubanks for bringing our childhoods to life.

No Bad Blood Between Us
Today, host Joe Augustine becomes a fan boy when he interviews special guest, Ron Freschi, guitarist from the band Babylon A.D. Now, if you remember their debut, you know they could throw down. But it was their sophomore album, 'Nothing Sacred,' that really showed what this band was made of.This record gave us two top-ten metal singles—'Bad Blood' and 'So Savage the Heart'—tracks that should've been spinning in every tape deck and CD player from coast to coast. Heavily influenced by the rock gods we all worshipped—Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, UFO—Babylon A.D. delivered big melodies, bigger riffs, and pure rock 'n' roll swagger.'Nothing Sacred' is what a lot of us call an underappreciated gem. It hit right when the grunge wave was crashing down, but the talent and the songs? They're still undeniable. But here's the thing—Babylon A.D. isn't just living in the past. They're still out there doing what they do best: making music and hitting the road. Their new album, 'When The World Stops,' proves they've still got that fire, delivering the same high-energy rock 'n' roll that made us fall in love with them decades ago.And that's what it's all about, folks—supporting the musicians who've given us the soundtrack to our lives, as Babylon A.D. did for host Joe Augustine during his senior year of high school. Also, our host finally finds out a burning question 35 years in the making, what does the A.D. in Babylon A.D. stand for?
