150: Building Dreams And Empowering Young Women With Nour Hachem - Fawaz

from MUVE Forward · host Michelle Wolfe

On today’s episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Nour Hachem-Fawaz. Nour is the President and Founder of “Build a Dream,” which is a not-for-profit organization that aims to empower young women to consider a career in male-dominated industries such as skilled trades, science/ technology engineering, and math, emergency response, and entrepreneurship. Nour is also a wife and a mama and has chosen a path that not only fulfills her desires as a mother but as a successful career woman as well. She is on a mission to empower women all around the world to do the same because you don’t have to choose - you can have it all. Nour had this to say, “Once you show a woman her potential, that power can never be undone. Women should be able to reach any level of success they desire, in any industry.” This is a truly inspiring episode! On this episode we dive into: Barriers that stop women from considering male-dominated industries as career options. The power of infinite choice and infinite potential. Recognizing that the labour market is changing and children are not going to take linear pathways anymore. Exposing children to all options instead of just gender-specific options.Empowering parents to help their daughters navigate the various career pathways available to them.Building habits in young women to help serve them better and build their confidence in their future. Helping women learn that it’s okay to talk about money - and that it’s okay to desire an abundance of money and being financially independent. Not having to decide between motherhood and your career - you can have it all (if that’s what you want). Feeling proud of being a successful career woman and mother. Speaking to Mother’s differently so that the mom-guilt isn’t as intensified.Finding what drives you to feel the most alive.Determining your non-negotiables to fill your soul so that you can feel happy and content in your day to day life. The take-home: If you’re ready to take a leap of faith but aren’t sure exactly which pathway is right for you, start by asking yourself these questions: Who’s story inspires you? What resonates with you about their story? What have you always wanted to do but never thought it was possible? If you’re then doubting how to get started on that path, start with tapping into the strengths you know to be true about yourself. Begin reaching out to the people who’s stories you are resonating with and ask them how they got started or what they love about that pathway - people are more often than not more than willing and excited to share about their success and journey with you!
