500,000 kids per DAY are targeted by sexual predators on Instagram and Facebook. Let that fact sink in. Stadiums and stadiums could be filled with these children. If we could truly picture it, we would recognize this as a national emergency. Worse? Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, knows this fact. The stat came from one of the company’s own researchers, who raised it to the attention of the company’s leadership in an internal email. Yet still, Meta refuses to meaningfully address the problem.Instead, they pour millions of dollars—money that they could be spending on making their products safer—into trying to shut down child protection legislation.
